I have seen them about the forums at times but also some of the stuff on their channel. While it might be more interesting for those closer to the normal age for skylanders for the games to like their channel, they have given out skylanders in the past.

While I can somewhat agree with how others might see how the dad is acting, it's also in the moment and he was trying to perhaps calm them on the fact of as some have said here, he might have been trying to get them to see that one as a collectible, but at every turn they tried to open it. I think that much would need to be addressed to them. It's great how they got excited for it, but at the same time it seems for the most part most of the figures were basically handed to them while someone else footed the bill. It's a perfect time for them to understand some value in keeping something sealed for now. Maybe later on they will get to open it, and I did see they talked on atleast opening the chill.

Little brats they do not deserve anything from them HOW EVER CoinopTV deserves them not those little brats.
I think this might be much for anyone to say here, as much as you might not like if this was real and they did get these from activision, it's nothing more than envy and some jealousy going on to an extent by some of the posts. I think if anyone else got one here, showed it off on you tube it would probably draw about the same attention. I'd rather see kids get to enjoy them (which I hope they do sometime)

Though as nice put it I would have to agree partially on it from how many kids tend to act these days and get spur of the moment in something they see and lay claim to it. Scrolling through much of the video I did just about as others did in only getting to the parts of them showing the address and getting the two out of the box. Not much else was worth watching.

I'll give you the simple answer. Because you show respect to other members. I may not have posted much here but I can let you know I have bounced on these forums and watched them over the years, and to anyone it's not exactly a good thing to do in too much discussion on a subject like this. It's bound to happen though and for what it's worth if you fall under congratulating them or not, show respect in either way you post.

But, Tiger, that's a problem with humanity as a whole... especially in America. Everyone loves money more than anything else, even to the point a father would surprise - flaunt - glitter Hot Head, but tell them they can't open it because it might be worth money.

My variants are my own, but when my son and I found a Gold Chop Chop (the only variant I found at a store), and he talked me into buying it for him, we both knew it was worth money, but he wanted to open it. I didn't hesitate in telling him that there is more to life than money to fill the emptiness in peoples' lives. I told him to tear that sucker open, even though I could have gotten 200 for it.

Kids > money. Life > money. Greed has no place in my house, and I pity greedy people who only care about the monetary worth of a product.

So, this dude should teach his kids that money isn't everything. He should be teaching them that if it's their collectors item, it's theirs to do whatever they want with it. He should tell them that if they want to save it, they can... IN HOPES it will retain value later on. However - and most importantly - he should have told them that if they want to open it and enjoy it out of the box, that's their right, since he surprised them with it (that's supposed to mean he bought it for them, not for them, but secretly for his own agendas).

We can only hope such a discussion happened after the camera was rolling from this, but being caught in the moment sometimes we can only get certain words across. In this case watching him trying to keep them from opening it. I do agree with how you handled it with your own kid and that's a hat's off to you. It's an important message from anything you collect on what might have value to others and be hard to find. You want to teach good values and these toys are a good source of that, and it shouldn't be lost on the fact it's for a game and they are meant to be enjoyed.

Yeah, it would be cool if he allowed his kids to open it and enjoy it how they saw fit, seeing as it was a surprise for them.

I thought it was cool that my son put his enjoyment of Gold Chop Chop over the money he could have had. Sometimes, it's the little things people can enjoy more than money, which sometimes has the habbit of bringing the worst out in people.

Activision doesn't send out figures. PR people that work for them do. And rarely do they ever send out random figures for no reason. No offense to their channel, but with 10k subscribers they aren't really a high profile channel like coinoptv for example. So Activision wouldn't just send them something for no reason unless they won a contest or something like that. I will say though that the address is the same as the one that was on my package when I won a Toy Fair chop Chop. But the format and font is not the same. Also, they didn't ship my package with packing peanuts.

Yeah, I didn't want to question the packaging lable, until someone else who might have received from them had.

I noticed it, too. I still have both boxes they sent me stuff in, and it was a little off.

Honestly, I find his channel annoying and uninformative. He's just everywhere. I definitely won't be checking out his vids after he basically gave his kids the finger by showing them, "HEY, kids, look at this surprise I got ya. Oh, by the way, you can't ever open it."

I still feel sorry for his girl, and the only thing people - who probably don't have kids - around here are saying, is that they're acting like brats. I hope those types don't have kids, because I will feel for those kids, too.

Did they happen to include packing peanuts when they sent yours?

Well--we got a package of Skylanders--including variants from activision--and yes, the person that was the contact was a PR person. But it did come full of packing peanuts and with a typed--probably letter they send out regularly--that started "to Portal Master."
The package was sent because of a letter written by my 9 year old with my help. It wasn't only a fan letter but more personal. I don't know who these people are that are being discussed and won't go look at the videos. But I can confirm that packages are sent, ours was from a PR person, and there were packing peanuts.

But most collectors don't sit there and pull the surprise move on their kids, only to then throw their hopes under the bus because something may be worth some money.

That's what this dude did. He meant to surprise his kids, they got super excited, and then he crushed their dreams by telling them they had to play with Hot Head through the box.

So much fail. If those were my kids, and I pulled that stunt, I am obligated to give them their surprise and they can do whatever they want with it. Now, had I wanted to keep the Hot Head sealed, because money is on my mind, I wouldn't have put him in that box, but instead removed it and surprised them with the LC Chill.

Kinda surprised it's been allowed to go on this long without someone with authority closing it.

Took the words out of my mouth. It's really sad, that the guy put monetary value of a product over his kids.

Bahamut, it's called an opinion. Not all opinions are sunshine and rainbows. One of my biggest pet peeves in life, is seeing kids saddened when they don't really have to be. Now, if kids get saddened over something beyond their control, or in a manner that isn't deemed cruel, that's one thing. That isn't the case here. He got his kids hopes up, only to say "this is staying in a box."

Makes me think, "dude, get a job. If you're so hard up for money, that you feel you need to save a Skylander for 20 years, that's just pathetic." I never bought my variants for the purpose of cashing in later on. If I get rid of them, because I am starting to realize my collection will look fine without them, it's going to be for slightly less than what I paid for them. I never bought them thinking, "oh, man, I own the next Family Fun Fitness Stadium Events."

Its pretty sad that the dad will not let them open Glitter but let them play with it in the box. The point I want to make is this:
The only reason you would keep it in the box is to later cash out bigggg. If he allows his kids to keep playing with it in the box it could get bent/dent/scruffed/torn which in turn would not be mint condition for a big cash day. If you watch the video above you can see Hot Head go flying when the boy is opening LC chill, a few more of those crashes I would hope that the dad changes his mind. As for me, you can check out my pics that I have posted and all mine (Including variants) are open for my son to play with.
