They do a lot of fake stuff, I wouldn't really trust them as a source. Glitter Hot Head is available on eBay and similar sites, and LightCore Chill is readily online in a few places. But who knows? They've been pretty popular lately

The skylander kids are cool!

But really...

All I need to finish off giants is S2 smilie, smilie, smilie, LC smilie, and gnarly, punch, and royal.

The reason I don't want Lightcore hex is because... Erm....

(Only open spoiler if you are 11 or older)

Lightcore *******.

But yeah. Maybe if I send an email, I might get answers in the form of rare skylanders.

Are you guys really going to attack them for something rare? C'mon lets be mature about it. There story does bring about questions, but who knows. Just because they are "brats" and don't deserve it, or whatever is being said is just assumption and greed. You don't have to just say those things just because they have two skylanders, they are just figures, not something valuable. This isn't directed at one person, it's directed at those who are attacking them, fake or real.

My comment wasn't involving them being "brats". Mine was more a bit of jealousy (yeah, I'll admit it.) Honestly, I'm not interested in either figure. It's just why should they be getting mailed figures just because they've got a youtube channel?

He could have gotten those from someone in Australia, seeing as LC Chill is out there in American packaging.

Activision doesn't have the means to send regular figures out, since they themselves have to buy or win figures in raffles. They definitely don't have access to chase variants.

I have always questioned this dude based on his videos. He always reminds me of some guy who is a few tools short of a toolbox. He just goes even lower by getting onto his kids (look at his daughters face) for not letting them open the Glitter Hot Head he surprised them with. What a failure of a dad. All of this is in my opinion anyway. It would be different if he bought Hot Head for himself to keep, but he surprised his kids with something, only to tell them what they can and can't do with it.

I really feel sorry for his kids, especially after that stunt. I'd never do that to my kids... ever.

The dude's a hack in my opinion. Something's always off about him, and honestly, I don't trust any of his videos, as he's always doing stupid things in them.

I just don't think Activision sent him anything. All that Activision address is, is another red Thumpback if you ask me... if you're tracking like a VCR.

I personally don't like the bandwagon of people trying to become e-famous by spamming unoriginal videos as an attempt to get freebies/likes/subscribers/etc.
Companies see it and think they should give stuff to some of them since they are free advertising and it's good PR for the company, but then other people see these free handouts and copy them like a flock of seagulls. The cycle will keep going as long as it's rewarded.

Oh well. I refuse to give them a view, but it sounds like bologna.

Well, from the talks I've had with people at TFB, they don't have access to any figures. They have to buy figures if they want them, and in certain cases, they will hold raffles for more obscure characters.

I just don't trust this dude. I'm not knocking anyone with ADD, or ADHD, but this dude seems to have a super form of it. He's just everywhere. After this video, I can honestly say his parenting skills are lacking, too. I can still see the sad look on his daughter's eyes as they were surprised with something, only to be dictated about how to use it, and that's after I watched Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Pathetic, in my eyes. That's why I don't buy variants for my kids, unless I know for sure I want to let them open them. If I surprise my kids with something, I'm not going to tell them they have to keep it sealed, and then threaten them because I am making them do something with a figure I am surprising them with.

This dude is wrong. He values materials over his kids' happiness. Don't surprise your kids with something, only to destroy said happiness due to the rarity of the item you surprised them with. What a failure. I pity him, and I feel sorry for his kids.

]Why are they little brats?
It's a fun channel imo, don't watch it if you don't like it....

They're little brats because they're acting like little brats. Dad says unequivocably "No, we're not opening Hot Head", even making it clear he's not goofing around, that SERIOUSLY, no, they're not opening Hot Head, and they're still whining "Nooooooooo", and both tried to grab Hot Head to rip him open, despite th firm "No" they got. It seems quite clear that each time they grabbed it, if he didn't manage to immediately get it back that in a flash it would have been ripped open.

Those are brats. Period.

Time was, Dad's word was law. He declared something, that's how it was. Now it seems like all kids everywhere have adopted the philosophy "It's easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission", doing what they want then trying to duck the repercussions. That leads to unruly screaming out of control brats.

As for people saying he's a bad dad for giving them a surprise they can't open, well they might as well be introduced to the concept of valuable rare collectibles one day, and seeing as there are Skylanders like that, what better way? It would be one thing if they didn't have Chill to open, or if he hadn't have said they could play him in the box, but they can open Chill and play with Hot Head, that should be good enough.

I was REALLY disappointed not to see Hot Head on the portal, lit up, I want to see what he looks like!

(Oh, and I find their antics incredibly annoying and time-wasting, so I clicked the YouTube button to see it on YouTube. On YouTube, when you hover over the timeline, it gives you a picture of the video at that spot. I jumped to where they were opening the box. Which was STILL annoying, SkylanderDad doesn't know how you need a knife to open packages, LOL!)

Well, it's Activision's right who they give the figures they create to, but still, after seeing this video of a dad surprising their kids with a figure, but then being stern and getting onto them because he won't allow them to open it (valuing money and materials over his kids' happiness), shows where his priorities lie.

I disagree on the priorities thing. Just because a parent treats themselves to something does not make them selfish or mean. His issue was that he gave it to them then told them they essentially couldn't have it. That part is mean, particularly if they have not been told about collectibles and value.

I don't collect packaged figures or chase variants, but if I did I wouldn't give it to my son as a gift then tell him he couldn't play with it. I might explain to him about collectibles and that I purchased it for myself and while he may see it, it is not a present for him. My boys understand "mine" and yours", and while we are a family not everything is free for all to use however they want. For example, I have some M rated games, and those are completely off limits. I'm not hiding the games, they just know to not touch them (they don't really care, but we have had a neighbor kid try to con him into playing one then telling his Dad I said it was ok after I mentioned it to him - that kid is banned from our house now for that and other reasons).

GM, I believe you would agree on this one, I doubt you would be too happy if your son went into your room and started opening Skylanders off your wall because he may think it would make him happy. Those figures are "yours" and the ones you got him are "his". It isn't about happiness or priorities, you can treat yourself and balance it with providing for your family.

Even then, he said the kids could play with Hot Head, just not open it. It's not like he was giving them something then saying they couldn't have it. Though I will admit him treatening them was uncalled for.

I don't collect packaged things unless I happen upon something special that I feel I should leave packaged. The only packaged thing I have is a japanese Surfing Pikachu figure, which may not be rare or valueable, but still something I choose to leave in package.

I did watch the video and found it quite annoying. As niceguy said, their whinning and constant attempts at trying to open Hot Head despite being told no is rather bratty behavior. I've seen much better videos out there. I truly don't understand why Activision would see this as good publicity warranting figures being mailed to them. I even chose to skip through parts of the video to see the more important points and try to skip the more stupid parts.

I think its pretty sad when an adults collect toys that are meant for children the age skylanders are meant for. I used them to introduce my son to collecting, I may enjoy the hunt, but they are recommended for age 7-12 not 20-40.
To show it to your kid, then keep it from them is even worse.

Stop and look at yourself through your childs eyes.

Sad thing about it is.. After activision runs the franchise into the ground, no one is going to care about these bits of plastic, and that rare piece he kept from his children will be worthless, but this episode capturing his pettiness is recorded for his children to remember.

Oh stop it with the "you are too old for this" crap. I stopped worrying about that when I was 12, and am much happier as a result. You know, back when I was younger ALL video games were thought of as "meant for kids". Young kids worry about "oh Mario is for kids", "Zelda needs to be realistic with blood!" and other stupid stuff. That idiot mentality sent one two of the best games of the Gamecube generation into obscurity (Viewtiful Joe and Wind Waker, which is only just now re-gaining support).

Like I said, I don't collect chase variants, but if I did I don't see the problem with collecting them as an adult, particularly if I get my sons a regular version of the character. I collected and played Mario games, Legos, Star Wars figures, etc. long before I even had kids. And now that I do have them, I can have a great time bonding with my sons with them. I'm sorry that you consider an arbitrary number on a box as the deciding factor as to whether you can enjoy something or not.

If I were to look at myself through my child's eyes, I would see someone that understands how to have fun like they do. Someone that spent the evening last night playing Luigi's Mansion and Skylanders with them after they did their homework. Much better than seeing someone that spends the weekend laying on the couch guzzling beer and complaining about how some football team isn't doing well and other "age appropriate" things.

I gotta agree with defpally. So long as toy collecting as a parent is kept on a healthy level, I think its one of the best ways to bond with your kids. So many adults I talk to at work see their child's interests as a second language and I am the translator between them. I feel like if parents just sat down with their child and tried to watch one of their favorite shows just once a week, they'd all get along better. Outside of MAYBE sports (I know I never liked sports as a kid) there aren't a whole lot of topics for kids and parents to be on equal terms. I've noticed that with 80's and even some 90's children becoming parents the idea of playing video games with your kids is becoming much more popular.

Activision doesn't send out figures. PR people that work for them do. And rarely do they ever send out random figures for no reason. No offense to their channel, but with 10k subscribers they aren't really a high profile channel like coinoptv for example. So Activision wouldn't just send them something for no reason unless they won a contest or something like that. I will say though that the address is the same as the one that was on my package when I won a Toy Fair chop Chop. But the format and font is not the same. Also, they didn't ship my package with packing peanuts.

Yeah, I didn't want to question the packaging lable, until someone else who might have received from them had.

I noticed it, too. I still have both boxes they sent me stuff in, and it was a little off.

Honestly, I find his channel annoying and uninformative. He's just everywhere. I definitely won't be checking out his vids after he basically gave his kids the finger by showing them, "HEY, kids, look at this surprise I got ya. Oh, by the way, you can't ever open it."

I still feel sorry for his girl, and the only thing people - who probably don't have kids - around here are saying, is that they're acting like brats. I hope those types don't have kids, because I will feel for those kids, too.

I'm a bit to young to plan my 21-60 years. But do you agree with me?

I agree. Kids get excited at various things, particularly when they get gifts. I think a lot of the "brat" comments equate to "I'm jealous they got something I want and are excited about it". To young kids, getting a new toy is a big deal. Kids ask for stuff, over and over. They whine from time to time. They haven't learned to temper their emotions like adults, or be exposed to the really important things in life and that isn't a bad thing. When we grow up we become more jaded and cannot appreciate the simple joy of something like that, and that is a shame. They have plenty of time to be a grown up later.

I gave my son Lightcore Pop Fizz and Chill last night and he was super excited, like bouncing off the walls. Lots of hugs abound. I wish I could still have the little things in life shine like that. But, I can still appreciate it.
