When skylanders are made do they make the same amount of Chill as they do of Hot Head? Or is each figure produced in their own numbers making some more rare than others? I am just curious about standard figures, not variants as it is obvious they are limited.

They're all mass produced, but they take time to ship.
They usually sit in a warehouse for a month or two.

I know that. What I am asking is do they make the same amount of each figure? For example if they make 100,000 chill figures do they make 100,000 of every other figure as well?

They probably do, but they make X amount, and they separate them into different runs.

I don't know if there's any official word on that. I think there's always subjective discussion based on what's currently available and what not. You'd probably need Activision to say officially. My guess is No. To create equal amounts of everything would mean that they think there will be an equal demand for every character, and I doubt that's the case. There's probably less single Jet Vac and Cynder produced because they come with the game. They assume that the more popular Spyro versions would sell more Giants versions as well.
When they place the orders, they are putting out millions of dollars, so I bet they have a lot more thought going into them then just make the same amount for all. |

This question reminds me of the answer to the question "How Many Licks Does It Take to Get to the Center of a Tootsie Pop?"

I would say no. While yes, they are all (the regular figures anyway) produced in mass quantities; some figures seem to appear more than others. Considering some figures are in more packs than others, that is already evidence that those figures appear more often. If we were to look at what figures are included in the shipments of what waves we will most likely see some figures appearing in more wave shipments than others. Like how (it at least seems) like S2 Slam Bam was only shipped with 1 wave while Shroomboom has been in every one.
As for the Chrome Spyro question, though I don't know, I would probably figure that it, the blue Chrome Chop Chop, and definatly the Employee Prism Break had only a certain number of each made.

I would also think that the answer is no. In my experience with collecting Star Wars figures, the companies always claim to have done research on which characters are more popular than others so that they can cater to specific demands. That being said it was always frustrating to open a case of SW figs when a new wave came out to find that out of 16 figures, 4 were the same old Luke, 4 were the same old Han, 3 were R2 and 3 were Vader and the last 2 were the new figure that everyone wanted and was waiting for.
Whenever anyone was able to corner a Hasbro rep they always replied that they had to keep the main characters on the shelves because that's who the kid's identified with the most. I'd say that's probably the sentiment throughout the toy industry. -Grishnaar |

Only 2,000 of the Toy Fair/E3 variants exist.
Apparently, 10,000 Silvers were made, but I don't believe it. More like 1,000. 7, 334 S1 Flocked Stump Smashes were made. 7, 000 Blue Bashes were made, I think. Over 10,000 Red Drill Sergeants were made.

The short answer is nope there is a separate number of each type of figure in existence. The more complicated answer is only the company knows for sure the exact number of any figure and they will likely never reveal these numbers. Each figure is distributed in waves and each figure type (giant, LC, core, battlepacks, triples) is distributed separately. Each wave for each type of figure is distributed separately for a set but unknown number of prints. When this number is up the company starts producing and shipping out the next wave. Figures can be distributed in multiple wave for example S2 Terrafin appeared in both wave 1 and wave 3 of the core figure distribution. Certain figures have also carried higher distribution weight in a single case for example one can find 2 Thumpbacks in a Wave 3 Giants case but only 1 Crusher. There are also exclusive skylanders that are shipped to stores in case quantities inclusive of only that figure. An example of this would be cases Granite Crusher shipped 6 to a case back in October. |
