i went to gamestop, i bought a triple pack and at the cashier gave me a choice of all, i chose and: he said that'll be $1,021.93. so i was like what the he**.the price set to $999.99. i don't know how to post pictures though, (i think you need an account for somewhere, if so then i can just tell you) *he still charges me $21.93*

I believe it. To try prevent them from selling the sidekicks seperatly (something that was a problem last time around), they are registered in the system as costing $999.99 each. Sounds like the guy at the register tried to ring up the sidekick instead of just giving it to you.

I believe you... I've heard stories from last time about how some cashiers didn't realize they aren't supposed to SELL the Sidekicks, that they're free gifts with purchase, and how some people managed to simply buy them for $2 each or something. So they solved that by setting the prices to $999 each to put up EVERYBODY'S red flag when they see the totals, LOL! I've also heard somebody say outright that they did this.

Personally, I'd rather buy them for $2 rather than find enough Skylanders merch that I want to earn the free Sidekicks. Especially now that I'm at a stage where there aren't any other Skylanders I'm interested in getting. I have a vague interest in a couple (like Lightcore Hex), but none that I feel I need.

I still need Royal Double Trouble so I may just buy the Battlegrounds starter and sell any sidekicks I get and the extras in the pack to split the difference.

They ring up for 999.99 to prevent them from being sold separately. I can vouch for that. But right now, they are supposed to auto promo down to 0 when 19.98 of skylanders stuff is scanned into the register.

That happens to me all the time, when the price is messed up after a sale. So yeah, I do believe you.

You honestly should tell him that the sidekicks are supposed to be free and that a small object for nearly one thousand dollars when more valuable things are less money.

Stop complaining about the purchase requirement...or go on eBay and buy the set for $80.

Usually I would also say "shut up about the requirement", except this late in the game I'm sure many people are in this same predicament, LOL! Especially as recently releases have pretty much dried up.

And you SERIOUSLY don't see anything wrong with getting 4 figures from eBay for $80 when they (reportedly) don't actually DO anything in the game???!?!? Their value is something like $2 to $5 each, much more than that is extreme.

I had heard that the McDonald's coupon would work on that. And given the price has dropped you will probably only get one. Unfortunately, most stores only had one in stock since it wasn't a huge seller, you might have to go online for it (I'm not sure sidekicks are available online).

As far as the purchase requirement goes, well the window of opportunity has closed for getting them for $2 so it is hard to claim they are only worth $2. They are now "collectibles", therefore you can expect to pay a premium. Gamestop offers the option to get them without resorting to EBay scalping, so at least be thankful for that. It's better than Volcanic Vault, Ebay is your only option for that.

I agree what you get isn't worth much, I rarely use them - they are mostly just annoying and take up space on the portal. And in the 3DS version, they only appear in the hub areas. If you aren't a collector, forget about them. If you are, then you know the deal - you can pay an EBayer $20+ each, or buy $20 of Skylanders stuff and get them for free, then you can resell the stuff if you don't need it.

Hmmm, I picked "$2" out of the air, is that really what you had to pay? For the Lays thing I assume?

And that window was never open, at least not for me, that promotion never showed its face around here, I'm in Canada. I never even HEARD of them until reading about them in these forums back in January or so. In fact, I've never heard of them OUTSIDE of these forums, LOL!

No, I'm not a collector, not exactly. Too much effort and WAY too much money to get serious about collecting them all. It's just that I feel gyped that Canada was so completely neglected on Sidekicks, until the current rumour that they're FINALLY coming here. Especially as the $30 promotion was at GameStop, a chain we HAVE HERE, in the form of EBGames. For most things, we get what the States gets, we have close ties. Also, if this was back in January or so, I would have laughed at a $20 (or even $30) promotion, it would have been easy. Jeez, in February or so I bought 4 Giants at once, a $60 value plus tax. Now, I have nothing left to buy, but I want Sidekicks, if just to see them operating first hand! *sigh*

Bah, I'm about to receive a spare Scarlet Ninjini to release into the wild, I guess I can sell other new figures at the same time.

$40 total for the Lays chips, plus the bags.

I actually only got started with Skylanders in Janurary, so I'm still missing quite a few. I went down to GameStop after work and picked up S2 Whirlwind (yes, I still had yet to get Whirlwind until today.) and S2 Flameslinger (that I am so nicknaming Flameshlinger.) to get a Whisper Elf. Yeah, she's pointless in game, but I'm happy with her. I'll probably go back on Thursday and grab the Empire of ice they've had for forever and a Terrabite.

I still have yet to get a Flashwing. I'll be getting her triple at some point...
