could it be possible that the reason Royal is being delayed in other countrys is because they plan to release him in his series 2 mold as a single?

everyones all hoping that Giants ends with a surprise, and thats the biggest surprise they could actully pull off. (remember that data for all skylanders is in the games programing and that makes it impossible to come out with a surprise that works differently in game) Royal's "data" would be the same so gameplay would not change, but this would make Battlegrounds Royal the "varient" since he would be the oddball.

and because of my OCD i would much rather have him be in his series 2 mold, and im sure others feel the same way, thus making him a good seller. other reasons i think he would sell well is because most people dont have him to begin with since they cant afford the starter pack, and on top of being a fan favorite, hes extremly good is both pvp and story mode, making him in my opinion the best skylander all the way around. it dos seem like they were planing this for Royal since the begining

I AM leaning towards "Yeah, you're thinking too much", LOL! But I gotta say, it all sounds like valie theories.

And maybe Royal is CURRENTLY an American exclusive, but that's the kind of thing that could change. After all, look at Scarlet. Exclusive to German Amazon (and Swedish TRU). I haven't heard of anyone else having her. But everyone is quite convinced she'll be here eventually. Ninjini came out in the States a couple of weeks, maybe a month, before coming to Canada. It's quite often that stuff comes out in other countries later, and are just in the States until then.

Conversely, it really feels like an accident that Royal was in a Series 1 pose. It doesn't fit in with how everything else is. If it's unplanned, then they couldn't plan to release a S2 pose in another format, unless they made that entire decision later, to fix the mistake. And your theories somewhat hinge on this decision being made in the first place, to reignite interest with a late surprise. (Now I'm thinking too much) Also it seems like many people on this site, especially the site itself, knows WAY too much for anything to be truly a surprise. Every variant I could think of was listed on here months before anybody could get it. In this day and age, news like that leaks.

I don't think it was a mistake to put Royal in the series 1 pose, as it allowed them to have DT in series 1 pose in the non-exclusive battleground boxs, to give other people a reason to buy them (spoilers-that didn't work)
I imagine they thought it was worth playing around with the idea of making old poses special in some way. Why his stats arn't increased at all like every other variant in giants i'll never know.

I really like Royal in Series 1 pose, it makes his variant even more special. The colors they chose, especially for his staff really pop. I like the ball at the end (which wouldn't be there with the Series 2 pose since the staff is different.

I kinda like his S1 pose with an orange base. Makes him unique. RDT is an exclusive only sold at GameStop so he is harder to find than Punch Pop Fizz in the US. I am not aware what other contry he was released in. That would be a surprise release for sure, but haven't heard any rumors circulating about an S2 pose RDT. He is one of my favorite characters to use on the console games. And the iOS games aren't that bad either.

You mean Scarlet Ninjini? She was released in the States as a Target exclusive, too.

It seems to me that it's the existence of the variants that was listed here months before people could get them (thanks to their data being on the game disc). That ship has long since sailed, though.

The actual release plans were generally held closer to the vest I thought.

Uhh, you might want to check that. I live i nthe US and bought my Scarlet at GameStop. I've also seen her at WalMart.

Scarlet was pretty much everywhere in the US. Gnarly too thou target as far as I can tell has yet to sell there share of them.

I can see non-us getting royal as a single prob like dark spyro.

Next time you might want to check the date on the message you're replying to... Scarlet (yes, Ninjini) was released in North America in mid to late May, my comment was written at the beginning of May. Also, as has been pointed out, what was so surprising about Scarlet is that she WASN'T exclusive. I think within days of my message, news came out that she would be available everywhere, that she wasn't exclusive. And she WAS everywhere. The first (as far as I know) in-game variant without an exclusive.

Yes, actual release details, like dates, are kept secret, but my point is... Ahhhh, I don't remember my original point, this was months ago! LOL! And in this window I don't have the thread handy to re-read everything.
