I don't see the problem with mods currently having the ability to edit our posts. They do this to take out any disruptive content.

No not a guy can change your post.

They aren't constantly editing our posts and adding random content. They are simply removing suggestive content without deleting the post. I don't see the problem.

don't be stupid and your posts won't need to be edited by any mod

Really. Just don't say anything against the rules or that are strongly offending others.
I for one welcome their powers to alter our message.

Editing a post like you mentioned would only occur if their was content in the post that was disruptive, insulting or otherwise in violation of site rules but the post still had redeemable value and content worth keeping. In this case it should just be a matter of altering the post to retain good information while eliminating the bad.

As far as I know this is not a common occurrence and most cases do not fall in this field. A post is either good or bad few are both. I personally use this method about once a month as I do not like altering users post unless their is a need.

The alternative here is to delete the whole post.

Also, we have the ability to merge consecutive posts by 1 user. So when we do that, it still appears as "This post was edited by a mod." The editing thing is really meant for 2 different circumstances. The first being cleanup, like if someone spams the same line of text 100 times to get their point across. The second being getting rid of something small that's inappropriate as opposed to just deleting the post entirely. <.<;

I don't believe it should be done in April Fools. I don't believe an edit like that should be done at all. That's an ability to the Mods to help the Forum stay in order, it shouldn't ever be used as a joke.

The only time that I have seen it as kinda acceptable is when the user is asking for it. Like that one time someone called out the Mods on Stuff and Nonsense and got their post edited with a typical "Mod was here".

I guess the jist of the OP's concern is that a mod might abuse his/her powers. The sensible answer then is to first PM the mod in question, and then if he/she doesn't cooperate, contact dark52. Of course, we trust mods enough to hope they won't cause a conflict of interest.

Well I don't trust some mods 100% but, yeah you have a point.

Well, the moderators (Hunters) are here to give more order in ds.net, I do not think some of them begins to abuse the power they were granted. Also, were chosen by a good cause, no? From 179 forms or entries to be moderator ( I can not remember the exact number), these 10 users, um, I say, 9 users were chosen for their good performance with this. I do not think dark52 was chosen randomly.

Now with posts: post correctly, logical sense, and following the rules, and also with the Private Messages.

Here's a simple solution. Don't be terrified of a mods power of editing posts. They defintley know what they are doing and won't change your posts unless it contains too suggestive content.

Trust me when I say the effort needed to think up the right thing to put into someone's post to mess with them is just not worth it. You can make your own funny post MUCH quicker. >.>
