gamestop exclusive? [CLOSED]

i went to gamestop and they said next week buy $20 DOLLars of skylanders and get a sidekick. he said it's new so we might see the new sidekicks, or it's the old.

They did this back in Janurary. Unless they're doing it again... I think I'll wait for more proof before spending trying to buy a bunch of stuff for a sidekick. Though this weekend I'll likely pick up a Giants starter pack.

EDIT: I can confirm this. Just went ot GameStop and saw an in-store ad. If you spend $19.98 on Skylanders you get a free Sidekick (Whisper Elf, Trigger Snappy, Terrabite, & Gill Runt). Offer from 5/1-5/31/13. Limit of 1 per transaction, 4 per customer.

That's stupid! They had the SAME promotion a few months ago, for the same Sidekicks, except $30 of merch. For a second promotion it should be the Giants Sidekicks (Barkley et al), especially as they haven't been out yet (to my knowledge).

Not that it affects me, I'm in Canada, but it still seems dumb. LOL!

Maybe jsut a ton of overstock? idk, it may be stupid, but it works for me. I ended up missing the last two promotions for the sidekicks and wouldn't mind picking up Whisper Elf.

As far as I've seen, no, the sidekicks can not be directly purchased at GameStop.

However ....
depending on how devious you're feeling, it is possible to buy some Skylanders at GameStop, to meet the minimum purchase to earn the promotional sidekicks item .... then a week or so later, return the Skylanders to another GameStop for a refund ... but keep the sidekicks item. Depending on how astute the store clerk is where you make your return (and let's face, the clerks aren't usually very astute), you could possibly keep the sidekicks item for basically free.

Not saying I condone this method, but I may or may not have had experience successfully using this method in the past. :-)

SOME lucky souls bought them, but then the system bumped up their price to $999, so no one would.
It was an error in the price system.

I'm hoping the Giants Sidekicks aren't done through GameStop and have a similar process as last year with the Frito Lay mail in offer!! Hopefully we'll be hearing about their release info in the next few months!! smilie
