Maybe... a dollar a question? smilie

What's your take on their support? I wasn't terribly impressed but it sounds like they aren't getting much information from neither marketing nor development. I'm kinda asking the question why they're there.

They need tutoring on where/when/how/if figures will be released.

They should be given a sheet with images of all the packs on it, all varants, all release dates, all "end" production dates.

Oh I don't blame the people...I'm a bit disgusted they don't have a customer service line for that stuff...I also get that part of their marketing strategy is to not communicate release dates of figures etc....my main problem is why they are flooding (for both series) certain characters and not others---and to confirm their intent to produce them. I'd like for them to answer WHY I've paid them for a game that I can't buy characters for--and why I have to resort to spending 6x or more for these on eBay...reasonable don't you think?

For the actual technical problem I called about, the answer was "if it hurts when you do that...DON'T do that!" Well no kidding. No availability of patches for the product given its revenue is disgusting too. RE 6 has had at least 4 patches that I know about---I've lost count. Their response to me was "the game was meant to play offline"---so I guess that means even if our game systems CAN connect online---we don't need bug fixes to this stuff, huh? I'm still a bit irritated at the screen tearing on the PS3 version, and some of the bugs reported here.

Maybe I need to take a break from this, cause the more I look at Activision, the less I'm liking.

Yeah, that would make too much sense. I'm guessing they dont give this out because it's against their marketing plan---however communicating END DATES makes a bunch of sense but I'm guessing would anger their customers if they outright admit they don't produce something anymore---just admit nothing---claim ignorance...and maybe they'll go away. GREAT strategy.

I think we can all agree that Activision has room for improvement. As my old job core values where never be satisfied I totally understand where you are coming from.

I just hate it when people go off on the workers. The people that are answering the phones and what not. I have worked retail or some sort of customer service job for over half of my life. I will be 29 in a few days so it has been awhile. (I started working the day I turned 14.) A lot of people (not saying anyone on here) forget that the person answering the phone, taking their order, or checking them out is not doing that job because they love it. They are doing it just to pay the bills until something better comes to them. If the person on the other end of the phone is nice and trying to do what they can then there is no reason for that person to get all crazy on them.

I'll give you an example. I work for a large insurance company in the personal home and auto service center. People who pay their bills late EVERY month call when they get a two month bill and are mad and yelling at me, calling me all sorts of names when it is really their own fault because they can not pay their bill on time. I have been called things that would get me arrested if I called a police officer the same things. Then when you try and tell them that they need to pay their bill on time, and do it in nice words, they get all mad like it is not your business in trying to help them. That is my biggest pet peeve probably of all time. The person you are talking too, the "front line" people, are not the ones making money left and right. So don't call and yell at people or go to a fast food restaurant and expect the person taking your order to be dumb and them to get everything right at the same time. Either they are dumb or you want everything right. smilie Soap box over!

Nope I get it---and I want to be clear I wasn't talking about the front line...I'm talking about management decisions that the guys on the front line are having to live with.

Yep--I've been working since I've been 14 and I've worked 28 years. I've had all sorts of jobs that require customer interfacing. Even in my current job I have to listen to customer complaints...never take it personally but I totally understand how it can be grating.

My frustration is with management and corporate. Those decisions have led me to question why support is there given the limited information they've been given.

Yeah, I knew you got it. I know some people on here don't. Usually it is the younger kids that don't work or never had to work with John Q. Public before.

Anyways..... Got myself a pearl Sonic Boom from ebay for 85 dollars. :V

To add to your rant... You mostly talked about people not paying on time then calling to complain. This also applies when there IS something wrong. I always forcably remind myself, when I have a legitimate gripe (the complany messed up), the front line people aren't the ones who messed up - usually. Want to complain about the distribution of Skylanders? The person you're talking to didn't decide how to distribute them. Want to complain about things being overpriced? They didn't set the price. Etc. Think about the nature of the problem you're having, and who is responsible for it. The person you're talking to about it, how responsible for it are they? On the phone, not at all ever. In person, depends.

And always remember: You catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Remember that when you decide HOW you gripe and how you word it. smilie

why do people think there are "release dates" for Skylander toys like they are a new DVD or Stephen King novel?

I would have hated to see you people collecting the original Kenner Star Wars figures or GI Joes or Transformers.

Skylanders are toys and toys don't have release dates. New ones just show up when the show up. That's the way toys are released.

That is not totally true. TRU had boxes that had S2 Prism Break and Eruptor that were actually street dated for the 23rd of December. I'm sure if you were to dig back far enough we could find some pictures.

street date =/= release date.

street date is on an already shipped box. release date is something announced in advance telling you when to expect the box

Trust me, when people use the words "release date" on here, by your definitions they mean the street date, the date they're "released" to the public, when we can buy them. That's the only date anybody cares about on here. After all, who cares when the store gets a box, if we can't buy the figures for another week after that?

no what people here want is a release date, like they get for games and DVDs and books. They want Activision to tell us when each figure will be coming out months in advance, and that is just not going to happen.

Pretty sure they have it all planned out. THEY know the dates, people just want Activision to share the info. smilie Maybe they haven't planned EVERYTHING, but way too much has to be organized and co-ordinated, they have to have a schedule.

Sure, they're toys, but they're also collectibles, collectibles with staggered releases. So it's not the rules of games that applies, it's the rules of collectibles. Which do indeed have release dates.

And the release date we get for games and DVDs and books is the date we can buy these things - or are supposed to be able to. Which for Skylanders is called the Street Date.
