I am not trying to say for sure that wave 5 is out, but something odd happened today.

So, I went to Walmart, and I checked the Skylanders section. When I walked up to the figures, I see a Series 2 Slam Bam sitting there. I started looking for other wave 1 figures, just incase they might have found a straggler wave 1 box in the back. However, I see no Terrafin, Fright Rider, Ignitor, Zook, or Whirlwind.

Could wave 5 have hit the US? The characters I did on the shelf along with this lone Slam Bam, was Sprocket, Flashwing, Chill, Lightning Rod, Cynder, Shroomboom, Stump Smash, Trigger Happy, and Stealth Elf.

It just doesn't make sense for a lone Slam Bam to show up but no wave 1 characters. Could wave 5 be out, and someone cleared the rest of the figures out?

I have to go with either someone returned a Slam Bam or they had an odd box of W1. I was at my Wal-Mart this morning and they had a box of W2. So I don't know if they are getting old stock or what but, I think that your Wal-Mart may have had an old W1 box show up.

It could've been returned. Or it may have been siting in the back. I remember a guy pulling out a lone Rock Zook from the back of Walmart. No box, just sitting there with a Rock Whirlwind.

Street Dates are usually broken for Skylanders.

Wasn't the release date April 30th?We're approaching that, maybe you 'Muricanos will be getting Wave 5 soon.

Did you ask employees if they had a Wave 5 box? I have a feeling he'll be restocked in a "W5" box, with S2 Spyro and Wrecking Ball. Drobot will probably be in "W6" boxes..

I don't think the skylanders usually have a street date. TRU will usually get them a few days to a week before the rest of the stores.

You're over-reacting...someone probably found a straggler somewhere and put him out. A single piece of merchandise doesn't cut it...but if a few others start saying it...then we might be onto something.

I would normally say no its old, but i did find today in a TRU a bash and 4 flameslingers. At a target I found a slam bam and flameslinger. It could be possible I just found two shops that had returns or a box in each never opened but idk. On a side note the TRU farthur out had 16 ninjinis come today as my wifes friend works at this one and she put them out in the AM she had hid them behind others and some at customer service because she knows how ebay and skylanders work as she and her bf and kid play too. We rarely visit that tru thou as its over an hr away.

I still think that the stores are getting older boxes. I saw a box today at a wal-mart sitting behind a counter today that was W2. I got the Bash out of it for my nephews. Or it could have been returns.

Street dates usually only apply to the initial release of a game. Individual waves can be put out whenever they are received.

I'm gonna go with "no" on a Wave 5 release at this point.
I visited 2 Targets, 1 Best Buy, 1 BJ's, 1 Kmart, 1 GameStop, and 1 WalMart during the past 48 hours, and for the most part: Flashwing, Sprocket, Cynder, Swarm, Crusher, Shroomboom, Whirlwind, Stump Smash.

If they got slam bam out again the I'm happy, I just hope Zook is on his way too.

Given that Wave 5 doesn't automatically mean S2 Drobot, yes, it's totally possible. Note that boxes of Giants that are just another random Ninjini assortment without anything new are showing up with "W5" on them in stores as we speak. It could totally be happening with singles, too. Just because we want Drobot doesn't mean we've got him, it's up to Activision when and how they're going to do that.

Why is it that if there's a single Slam Bam that the only option is a wave 5 box was put out and the rest were cleared out, rather than a wave 1 box was put out and the rest were cleared out? I still see random Slam Bams here and there.

I can fill in the rest of my want list for Giants with one order. One variant away in Giants from being done (not including the remaining cast)--and 20% done with SSA variants. Going to give my wallet a break.

Maybe cause i have never seen a bash or slam bam other then at BJ's wholesale that had old stock. I been hunting since 12/26/12 and I have NEVER seen bash or slambam at any regular store ever until yesturday.

Wave 5 giants assortment is out, and has been since mid-March. The CAG guy posted an image of the boxes on 3/15. It just had 1 of 6 different giants in it. Nothing new.

Wave 5 singles? Not likely. A single Slam Bam has many more likely explanations. Like a return or an online order that wasn't picked up or something. Now if there were many then maybe, but I find it unlikely they would ship a new assortment without Drobot. The giants Wave 5 assortment is understandable, because nothing new was left and they probably went through 4 fairly quickly since it had 5/6 highly desired (at the time) figures. And we know one would have popped up on EBay if it hit anywhere.

Keep in mind though, that waves do not align between types. Wave 3 for lightcores and singles hit a month before giants. Wave 4 giants hit first and a couple weeks later the singles and we are still waiting on the lightcores in the US.

No idea what their plan is though. I figured it was stock glut, but they still seem to be selling well in my local stores at least. TRU is barren of ALL lightcores and their stock seems to rotate frequently, and other stores have very few. They are obviously trying to drag it out some to keep excitement up. I hope they aren't trying to bridge the gap from Disney Infinity, because then it might be July or August before we can complete the collection, and that would suck mightily. Obviously something is coming out mid-May, at least according to lesty (who has been spot on with info).

The thing is we are spoiled by game releases. Practically every game carries a release date months in advance, with pre-orders in tow. Toys, being more complex to make than pressing game discs and more bulky shipments, tend to vary much more greatly in releases. Back when I was younger, you were lucky to get a month for when a game was coming out. I remember being shocked that Sega announced the release date for Sonic 2 a few months in advance and kept to it. Today that is the norm. When I was very young, I had 11 of the original 12 Star Wars figures, and Jawa was simply unavailable for months. Then one day I came home from school and my Mom had bought it for me out the the blue, we had no idea it came out. I tend to temper that yes, Skylanders is a game, but I cannot apply game release logic to it.

I have been trying to tell people here for months that Skylanders are toys and get released as toys and toys don't follow a release schedule the way games or movies or books do.

To go back on Defpally comment. Wave 5 of Giants has been out since mid-feb in the US. I want to say something like the 20th is when it came out at TRU.

I could be mistaken, but I believe that was the Wave 4 Giants box (the type that had two Ninjini inside) that hit stores in February. Those were gone pretty quickly, and all the Ninjinis to hit shelves since then (beginning in March, like Defpally said?) have been in "Wave 5 Giants" boxes (which only contain one Ninjini each).

Okay. Yeah you are right. I saw a W5 box today at TRU that only have one Ninjini. My bad yo!
