Hey all, been a longtime lurker and finally joined the site! Just wanted to let people know if you're looking for Gnarly Tree Rex you can get the Wii Starter Kit with him on Amazon for only $39.99. It's hard to explain as it doesn't arrive in the box you'd see in stores, but mine was all new with everything included, packed in a half cardboard box. Totally worth it if you're looking for him, seeing as Gnarly by himself sells for around $30. Hope this is helpful to someone!

What a great find!
Well done, DoctorNick. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ...&seller=&sr=8-1 I look at Skylanders often on Amazon and somehow this particular item never popped up in my search results before. If I was looking for Gnarly Tree Rex, I would hop on this deal instantly.

Thanks! Credit should actually go to my girlfriend, she was helping me "hunt" online for variants and asked if that was a good deal. We have x360 and Wii so now we can both play at the same time! Now I'm just hoping one of us stumbles across something similar for Punch Pop Fizz. |

Oh wow! Getting Gnarly without having to buy a console.... I prefer variants, but I already have a regular Tree Rex (plus an extra I have to decide how to get rid of)... Don't think I like Tree Rex enough to get a second one I actually use... LOL!
I do have a Wii though....

Gnarly is my favorite variant out right now.
As far as Punch Pop Fizz you can look for the 3DS to be on sale somewhere and part it out like I did. Sold the rest of it so it ended up costing me about 5 bucks for Punch as I got it on sale. |

The retailers only accept 1 of the coupons too, I checked. The starter set is a good find and something worth contemplating to get gnarly but the fact of owning yet another giants game *groan*

Taking that last ride through the sunset on skylanders. Hopefully a return of more classic spyro gameplay in the horizon. |

Considering Gnarly goes for $30---getting the game, portal and characters can pretty much make Gnarly free if you piece meal sell off the rest. I wish I had the patience to do this.

RIP GhostRoaster. He's reanimated as TakeYourLemons but occasionally is resurrected from the beyond when needed. |

Yeah same here, they rest of the starter kit is just hanging out in my closet along with the Battlegrounds pack which came with Royal Double Trouble. I guess at least I have multiple copies in case the game breaks? |

Here is what I did. If you are interested in Gnarly, that means you probably got the 3DS Starter for Punch Pop Fizz. Swap the Gnarly for the extra Tree Rex from the 3DS and sell that separate on Craigslist or EBay. You could probably get $30 to $35 and you get rid of a duplicate Tree Rex. The packaging can actually fit into your old Skylanders Giants for Wii box (it's the same size) if you want.
Then, break out the Wii and I swapped out the blue Wiimote Plus for an old Wiimote (without the Motion Plus) and the white nunchuk for the blue one. My kids like the blue one better anyways, and many of the WiiU games that use the remotes prefer or require the Motion Plus (mainly Nintendoland). I upgraded a remote and nunchuk, and those run $60 combined at retail. Very few Wii games need the Motion Plus anyways. You might even be able to sell it without controller at all if you want an extra, some people just want to replace the console if theirs is broken. Then you can sell the Wii for $50-60 quickly or $70-75 if you are patient on your choice of selling sites. I ended up donating it to my church. Wii's don't sell like they used to, but it still sells decently. |
