So I went to a Gamestop and they had Bash, who I hadn't seen in forever. However, he had to hold it for a lady who has called about it before. So I was a little disappointed but that was fine. He then said that he couldn't find the number of the lady and it had been a week and a half since she last called so he gave it to me. And then he said he could hold any of them for me when he gets more shipments. I just need to say how much I appreciate these kind of associates, who do more than they do to help people find what they are looking for. I mean at my local gamestop they don't even let you hold them unless its preorder. Has anyone else had a really good experience from an associate?

Yes. I called a gamestop, and the guy said he had Ninjini and spyro.

I got down there.

He held the Ninjini for me (3 other people called for her), and he went into the back and got me a S2 Spyro.

Great Guy.

But then the lady calls back and finds out her skylander was sold to someone else...I bet she has a different recant of Gamestop's service lol.

Actually, I had a pisspoor perception of my local TRU, but one or two people there COMPLETELY turned it around for me...so yeah...it's nice when a couple of folks go UP AND BEYOND customer service.

I've actually called two different Gamestops in the same city (Newark, CA) and one would hold S2 Spyro & Wrecking Ball for me and one wouldn't. I think it depends on who you're speaking with and whether or not their manager has cracked down on that sort of thing.

For me it's been Target, Walmart and Gamestop here will actually hold items for giants where as the last game they wouldn't. As long as you are polite on the phone, usually they don't have a problem with it.

Taking that last ride through the sunset on skylanders. Hopefully a return of more classic spyro gameplay in the horizon.

Technically a lot of stores *aren't* supposed to hold items, at ours we make exceptions on this for about an hour and that's really all we can do. The few times we've held onto an item longer have been the times we haven't seen the customer come back x_X

I used to work at an EB Games so more often then not my old manager will hold items for me to purchase.
Otherwise, I haven't had any great experiences.

She waited over a week, she has not right to be upset. Anytime I ask a store to hold something that I expect that means at best until close that day.

And yeah, our TRU has some great employees. Just this past weekend they had restocked and the manager recognized me and took the time to let me know that they hadn't finished restocking yet and had some Ninjinis and other things not up on the shelf yet. I already had her, but I appreciate the effort.

Sounds like a great store. Crazy that they would even wait close to a week and a half. I figured holding it til the end of the day would be generous.

Usually if I tell the person "I'm coming from ____ and I'm leaving now. I will be there in ____ minutes" I have gotten employees at Gamestop to hold stuff for me.

But, yeah, holding something for a week and a half is insane! It would be even more insane if that woman came in expecting them to still have it on hold.

For inventory purposes don't stores usually have to put things back that haven't been picked up by the end of the day?

Not always. Retail is lazy (I should know, I worked in it for years).
If the store is closed and they know the manager isn't opening tomorrow, more then often they'll skip over the smaller duties so they can go home earlier.

And some places just don't care.
Or if they work on commission they will hold stuff for weeks.

Stock inventory isn't done very frequently. Certainly not nightly. It's a time consuming process, even for stores as small as Game Stops.

my gamestop here in las vegas is very helpful they called me, then held 2 ninjinis, spyro, and wrecking ball for me to pick up. i was there with in minutes. they also called me when they found a glitter sprocket. from my experience and reading others posts about gamestop i would say they have excellent customer service.
