INFO: Basically this is a sort of poll like topic where I ask you guys (the users of dS), what are your all time favorite games. There will be many different categories like 'Favorite Wii Game', where you just say what your favorite Wii game is and the same for 'Favorite Shooter' ect. You DON'T have to vote for each category, just vote for as many as you want. I just want to see which games get the most votes for each category, it should certainly be interesting. While I cannot comment on all of them because I haven't really looked into them, I will say that Sonic Unleashed and Skyrim do NOT deserve that spot.

Sonic Unleashed wasn't even a good game, why the hell is it even there? I don't care what anyone's opinions are on it, because if you enjoy the game, that's fine you're more than welcome to enjoy the game, but you have to take an objective viewpoint every now and then otherwise you get bad games on "Best Games of all time" list when they don't even come close to other candidates that DESERVE the spot. Skyrim has a great world but it is a shadow of it's former self, Elder Scrolls has always had very deep RPG elements despite the trope of the series being really crappy combat(seriously, combat in TES has never been good, there have always been problems with it) and mostly uninteresting writing, Skyrim barely has any RPG elements in the game, there are no classes, there are no stats, there's no real character building, your character is pretty much a no body in Skyrim which is a huge immersion breaker, your choices leave very little influence on it's seemingly lifeless world, etc, etc whereas you look at a series like Ultima, which not only has the longest arching story in RPG history but it added lore, a living world, character and concepts like honour and virtue into, what was at the time, a pretty brainless genre. Games like Thief proved that first person games didn't have to be solely about shooting or crawling dungeons, games like Half Life proved that you didn't have to force your audience into a cutscene every single time or just tell the backstory outside of the actual game, you could tell the story around the player, games like Deus Ex showed that mixing genres can work if you can do it properly and that sometimes choices that the player makes can influence the way that characters in the game see you, games like Planescape: Torment showed that gameplay doesn't have to suffer to tell a good, well written story, etc etc.

Interesting read, I do understand what your saying and respect it, but still disagree (mainly towards Skyrim and Half Life). You seem to have a pretty well-established opinion, which I something I like in a person. Care to vote?

Wow, pretty much all of the 'Worst Game of All Time' votes begin with 'S' 0.o

Best Game of all time: In my opinion, Parasite Eve. It's an older game by Squaresoft that fell right between the releases of Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII. It's creepy, gruesome and mind tingling.

Best RPG game: Dragon Age: Origins all the way. I cried so hard. Beautiful game with beautiful soundtrack and story. Could get some touch ups, but good regardless.

Best Action/Stealth game: Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater. I loved the survival part of the game and probably my favourite game in the series. The 'boss fight' against The Sorrow was frustrating when you didn't know what to do.

Best Racing Game: Crash Team Racing. I grew up with that game and I loved the maps, the characters and the soundtrack. And most people around my age can agree it was huge for the original Playstation.

Best Puzzle game: OMG! I will stand by Cleopatra's Fortune 100% on this one! Game was super cute and I was always a huge Tetris fan. But add a chibi Cleo? Way more cute~

Best Shooter game: House of the Dead for sure. I feel like I don't have to explain myself for this one.

Best indie game: This one would be a toss up between Flower and Journey (both by the same company), but in the end I'll hafta say Journey. Gorgeous graphics, soundtrack, lighting and s story that touches your heart if you have the enlightment to understand it.
