I got a $30 gift card for Amazon. I'm pondering how to spend it. If I spend it on Skylanders, that's where the problem arises. I can get SG Triple Pack 6, which comes with the S2s of Eruptor, Stealth Elf, and Terrafin, all among my favorite characters (I own their S1s), and all with pretty good wowpows (Terrafin's sounds way overpowered). That's not bad, if I want more power. I've beaten SG and SSA, but am considering getting a 3DS and SSA to go with it. It costs $24 officially, or $20 New from some other sources.

On the other hand, I can buy the Dragonfire Battle Pack. It comes with S2 Chop Chop (I don't have any Undead, this would be my first and would allow me to get everything in SSA and SG), Shroomboom, and the silver cannon. On Amazon, it's only $18 officially, with it being only $13 New from some sources.

On the other hand still, I could get the Golden Dragonfire Battle Pack. And if I keep it boxed, it could be worth something a few years from now, being an exclusive and whatnot. However, it's $37 officially, but some other sources have it for $21 New. Note that I want the Chop Chop, so I'm just going to buy the golden cannon individually.

So what are your valuable thoughts (since you put in your two cents, but your thoughts only cost a penny. Which means the government is putting a 50% tax on your thoughts, so they must be valuable!) on this?

Get the Golden dragonfire,as it has a more limited suppply...you can still play with chop-chop and shroom boom.use the 2 portal trick or just put one side on the portal

I know that, I fully intend to keep it boxed (in fact, I may have to. Parents don't like skulls, so that will hide the pedestal to a degree). Is there any difference between them? Also, if I don't get the golden cannon, but the silve, I save $7, and have enough to get single packs for 2 Series 2 (maybe).

They each count as a separate item in your inventory, and one looks a little different. No other difference. You can always get them on eBay for $10 and save some dough--of course it's about your Amazon GC.

Ok. Well, hopefully, in a year or two, the Golden cannon will be worth more on Ebay. Of course, if it doesn't do anything different, and I probably won't sell, maybe I should get the silver one. I dunno. I would like to get one of the variants of some sort (I once got a somewhat rare figure, but, forgot that one shouldn't unpack it out of its box).

My advice is to get what is going to be much harder to find later, i;e Golden Dragon Fire Battle pack, you can always find the silver one later as it is more common. Chop Chop S2 will hopefully be in a single pack, I have yet to see him, and when he does show up. there will be a sale eventually. SSA also sounds like a good deal, but ask yourself how often and how long are you going to play it after you finished the game. What I am trying to say is what will you get the most value for your money. It is an individual thing in my opinion, for some it would be to collect, for others it would be to game, myself is both collect and game. But if I had to choose I would collect before game. Thank you. I'm also considering getting a 3DS, and using the gift card to help pay for it. I'll be able to get one more character if I buy Silver, or not buy any other characters at all and have an extra $16 on hand. As it will be awhile till I order anyway, hopefully some triple packs will lower in price. I suppose I'm not much of a collector, I've taken most my landers out of their boxes and thrown the boxes away (boxes take up so much space traveling, and I only get Skylanders on vacation). And I like the figures. But I suppose the Golden Dragonfire could be worth something, and in a year or two (if I'm still into Skylanders), could be traded maybe with someone for several other characters.

I've noticed that. I'm factoring that in to my decision. If I do get some S2 outside of the pack I buy, any recommendations? Which one has the most amazing wowpow? From what I hear, it'd be Terrafin, or Wrecking Ball, or Eruptor.

^ Bash, Hex, Spyro, and Stump Smash have great Wow-Pows.

I'd get the Golden Dragonfire Cannon pack- since its in limited supply and all, but its clearly your decision. lol.

If there is no expiration date, wait for Swap Force. Otherwise wait to get one of the Lightcore Wave 5 that should be out soon.

While there's no expiration date as far as I can think of, I will have only a limited time to get it, when a relative goes to America. Unless I want to pay hefty shipping fees.

As for Swap Force, it's released very close to a sibling's birthday, so I'm not worrying too much about that.

I could be mistaken, but I think most of the Skylanders that can be bought directly from Amazon (not a 3rd party) are eligible for the "free super saver shipping" if one spends more than $25 in one order.

Indeed. So that would help. But even with those prices, I can still only get one character aside from the Golden cannon with $30. With the silver cannon, I can buy 2 other characters.

Frankly, the "golden cannon" is a collector's item only. If you're into the really serious collecting, go for it. If not, the regular silver cannon is just as good.
For what it's worth, the "cannon" pack that includes Chop Chop and Shroomboom (I think that's what you're referring to? Apologies if I am mistaken) is by far one of the easiest "3-packs" to find an a retail store. They had at least 10 of them at BJ's today, at least 10 at Sams Club, at least 6 at Target, several at GameStop, and I think I saw a handful of them clogging up the shelves even at Books-A-Million.

If I was in your shoes, with a $30 Amazon Gift Card that I wanted to spend on Skylanders, and I didn't own any Undead characters yet, and I wanted lots of characters (I don't know exactly which characters you own and don't own now), I would probably do the following ...

Fright Rider or Hex $8.00
Flameslinger $8.00
Lightning Rod $8.00
Drill Sergeant or Sprocket or Sonic Boom $5.99

That's 4 characters for $29.99, not bad!

yeah, I'm trying to get all in game merchandise recognized on my save file...I think I'm up to about 115...to that end that's one of the reasons why I'm chasing all of the items...to this day I still don't have that cannon pack...not a one...not even one with the golden cannon. I bought one and my son opened that one...that is it. I will get one or two from Gamestop (doubt they will discount it)...but the regular version will have to get down to about $9.95 for me to entertain it. If you really need a gold cannon you can buy them for $9 raw out of the package.

While we're complaining I really really really hate having to get the Mobile Pack to get Royal DT...problem is---his eBay price matches the package price so I guess I'll have to. Really--one reposed DT is $40 huh?

Back on topic, your previous thread about suggestions are all spot on. Stock up on what's cheap, I say.

Really, i'm mostly doing for chop chop, for an extra $3 I get the cannon and shroomboom! Or I get the golden cannon and pay $20 (again both of these prices are off other sources that link through Amazon) for two characters that aren't bad and get a gold cannon to go with them.
I suppose I'll likely get the silver, and buy two extra characters.

Again, I ask, who has the awesomest wowpow? The most gamechanging one? One that makes it worth paying for the same character twice? Eruptor or Terrafin sound like the most likely candidates, Legendary LC Chill, if she were cheaper, would also do nicely. If she comes to American Amazon by the time I order, I could possibly get the silver cannon and Scarlet.

In fact, as I will likely wait before using the gift card, that means that Triple Pack 6 (and maybe even 7) will possibly go down in price. If it gets cheap enough, or there's a sale, I could get it and the silver cannon, getting 4 of some of the best S2, plus Shroomboom (who isn't too shabby from what I hear), plus the cannon which will add a new PvP arena and will be somewhat helpful. And as I get an Undead, I can finally get all the collectables in SSA, SG, and potentially SSA3DS.

EDIT:
I'm heavily considering buying the SSA3DS game. I have S1 Ignitor and SE, but they're good characters and I can use different paths. I hear it's a great game, better than the consoles some say, and Dark Spyro looks pretty sweet, plus selling him could pay for the whole thing. It's pretty cheap at places as well.
