I know their 'looks' appear the same (as original charachter) while playing in the game but didn't know if these variants show up as "Special" in your collection in the game? Also is there any way to verify if you’re buying one from somebody it is the 'real deal' and not a fake? I was thinking about buying from somebody on Craigslist and not sure it's legit before buying.. Thanks for your help..

All of the sparkle variants should show up as special; from what I've seen only the rock variants from Wave 1 we plauged by the special/not special gamble.

You could ask the seller to provide pics of it showing up as special in game I suppose, but unlike the original series figures, these new variants seem to be a lot harder to fake.

All of mine show up as "Special" in game as well (both rock figures and both sparkles)... I got one off Craig's list for just over retail... that's a great place to look (esp cause some people don't know what they're selling and just wanna make a quick $5, it's a win-win)!! smilie

I nearly nabbed a Rock Zook from eBay. With 2 minutes remaining, it was $33. I put a max bid of $60, and in the last 2 seconds someone beat me. If that person didn't bid, I could've had a Rock Zook for $34. Oh yeah. Shipping was free.

I've been looking consistently for rock and sparkle variants and cannot find them. I'm convinced that employees must take these the majority of the time. (No offense to any retail workers--I know that not ALL are taking advantage of the system)
If anyone is willing to sell or trade at fair prices--not eBay prices--please contact me. smilie
Thanks

^On eBay, a seller is selling them for under normal selling prices, but he claims that they're preorders.

I'm also noticing prices going up for both. Just a month ago $70, now over $100 and I still don't have one. I guess I'll have to wait for prices to go down or not get one.

I know the seller you're talking about!! I've been trying to get Glitter Hot Head at a decent price for a while now, and messaged him about his Glitter Hot Head pre-orders... he said he just sells them to the next person in line and there are about 10 people in line for one now... if they ask for a refund while waiting, he will refund them but otherwise he just sells the stock as it arrives to the first person in line... which means basically that he won't be able to fill the 10 orders he already has, so I didn't bother with purchasing one!

So, he's basically using everyone like a savings bank and loan. NICE. Facepalm doesn't even start to explain my thoughts.

@Ghost Roaster
Thanks for info about pricing--what do you think about the post about ebay seller--selling at lesser rates w/preorder?
--but I've never done a preorder on eBay--have you ever done that or would you recommend?
But really--I appreciate people posting helpful info
Also--what do you think are "fair" prices for both seller/buyer for the glitter and the granite ones?
My son wants Hot Head sparkle so badly. But yikes prices have sure gone up and up--lol

Stay away from those auctions. Waste of your money and time...either pay $225 or more for these things, or expect to wait a long time. Your son will probably be moving on before you get one.

My suggestion---tell your son that these chase variants are out of your price range and are too restricted in availability. If he doesn't have White Flocked Eruptor or White Flocked Stump Smash I'd suggest that if he has to have a variant choose one of those--those are better cost wise and are more widely available.

Although I'm collecting the chase variants...I draw the line with my son with in game variants (Gnarly, Scarlet, Jade, Molten) and readily available Glow in the dark skylanders (which in the states is GITD Sonic Boom). And honestly, if he doesn't have all of the core skylanders--I'd be pushing him there first.
