So, the message is kinda discerning "We don't know when OR IF we will get this item back into stock." I have two but wanted to get a couple more and kinda irritated they are sold out. Anyone got the skinny?

This happened right after it came out, chances are it MAY come back, or those were the last ones.

If this is true then they will more than likely be back. I purchased mine around the end of January and I know he came out earlier than that.

Its hit or miss really when it comes to exclusives you know. I got mine on Thanksgiving day- and they had plenty of them back then. I always try to recommend getting "Exclusives" when your able and try not to wait till later to get all of what you want- Its possible it could be re-stocked since they did pull that "Its out of stock and we're not sure when it'll be restocked" line after it sold out the first time right when S: Giants came out. So its possible- its been restocked like 2 or 3 times since that.

Yeah, I realized that and executed perfectly on MHD and Jade but kinda forgot about the GITD and Gold variants. Really not into them, but being a completionist and all... <shrug>

When Flameslinger went up in stock for the final time, it stayed in stock until recently.

I doubt they will be back honestly. They sold a bunch up front, everyone remembers the frenzy when it first popped up. Since then it came back in stock and stayed in stock for months. I ordered two a little while back, one for my son and one for a prize at his birthday party. I have a feeling that they have finally sold completely through their stock. Once people figured out this wasn't going to be rare or hard to get (like GitD Sonic Boom), people lost interest. If this is what happened and it took until now to finally sell out of them, then the chances of them ordering more to sit on the shelf is slim to none, and Slim just left town.

When it comes to store exclusives, the best advice is to get what you want within a reasonable time frame. That doesn't necessarily mean go buy out the shelves on the first shipment, but waiting several months is always going to be dicey. I was finding Granite Crusher regularly for at least a couple months, and Jade is still easy to come by last I checked.

I actually ordered one two weeks ago. Wasn't aware of the variant at all, and it popped up as a "recommended" purchase when I was looking through skylanders.
I didn't realize they have been out of stock on this item for much of 2013.

So I noticed on 3/29, the s2 flameslinger was $7.99 on amazon, so I ordered it, but they sent Golden Flameslinger instead. Ughhh. It came in the mail yesterday. Now s2 flameslinger is over $20. Also, I can't exchange it because only 3rd party vendors stock s2 flameslinger, not amazon.

^ Don't worry, Flameslinger will be restocked with Wave 5.
