Is it true that the Lightcores do not have Wow Pows? I figured I'd get the lightcore versions instead of the regular series two versions but not if that is the case.
Do the lightcores have anything that the regular series 2 ones would not have? (not counting the lights of course).
Do the lightcores still unlock new challenge levels?
Thanks

From what I gather it's like this.
Series 2: Wow Pow, Heroic Challenge in Giants, different stats than the Series 1. Lightcore: Light up, Heroic Challenge in Giants, different stats than Series 1, ability to do some AoE attack when you start them up in an area. I say Series 2 > Lightcore. Especially seeing as the Lightcore cost more. |

They don't have different stats than the Series 1 figures.

No, they don't have WOW POW, but they are pretty good without it. Me personally I'm getting them all so it doesn't really matter

Also: Lightcores are "brighter" on screen than their S1/S2 counterparts.

As far as i can tell the parts of the figure that light up, also light up in game the same way- its pretty cool with shroomboom as his mushrooms glow, In summary if you want best in-game function, series 2 everytime- if like me you can't wait/find a particular character (drobot) the lightcores are better than series 1 |

Lightcore characters are nothing more than a gimmick to sell figures for a few bucks more just because they "light up." Whoopty do.

If swap force sees the return on fright rider, sprocket, flashwing, and hot dog as lightcores I may be getting the 4 newlanders from giants. If not I will be happy with my basic newlanders.

Actually they do have better stats than s1, but worse than s2

Series 2 > Lightcore > newlanders.
Get any 'new' characters that have lightcore versions, but skip any original SSA characters that are lightcore. |

I'd much rather have newlanders than a gimmicky lightcore of a previous character or a series 2 with a few new moves unlocked.

Agreed.
If the lightcore is a newlander character, then they have the lightcore bonus without losing anything. So if you have a easy choice between a normal newlander and LC newlander, you may as well grab the LC one. |

LightCore skylanders are pretty much a combination of a Magic Item and a series 1 skylander. that's in game.
The Magic Item part is the fact that when it's brought into the game it blasts a blast of light that damages all nearby enemies. Everything else is similer to S1. (Though i have no idea about if there's a difference in stats.) So the fact that the figure glows is not the only reason for them.

yeah s2's only have their Agility better by ten [light cores have 10 Agility] and lightcores have 5 more luck.

They do have the lightcore blast, but its only once per summoning per level, so if you begin a level with your lightcore, its completely wasted- Its for all intents and purposes a non-ability, i've never had it do a single thing for me |

I’ve had a few situations on nightmare where I’m cornered by a small horde of baddies and used a lightcore’s light-bomb to clear an escape route.
They are a worse buy than S2 figures, but if you see a Newlander Lightcore on special there isn’t much of a reason not to buy it. (Actually, I also have the Drobot lightcore figure – the light-bomb is better than the uber-blade, imho). Also, lightcore figures that are reposes of S1 characters do work as S1 characters in SSA, so that’s a thing. I still like to play the odd round of SSA. It has some pretty neat levels. |

All reposes of original characters work in SSA, so that doesn't help in the lightcore vs series 2 debate |

True dat - was only pointing it out because people still see the packaging and assume that Lightcores aren't SSA compatable.
There isn't a whole lot of room for debate in the Lightcore vs S2 debate - the S2 figures are better. Unless you're happy to have a nerfed figure (like I am with Drobot), the S2 figure is the only way to go. |
