Ok, so yesterday I finished Nightmare mode. But I've got to say it was pretty boring. i mean for the beginning levels I really didn't see much of a difference, same bad guys just with the ability to do more damage. However, around Drill X I began to notice a bit of a change as the boss battle was a bit better. Then I noticed some slight changes in bad guy numbers and what not. (though actually i think it started in Khoas' Kastle). But over all it was pretty boring. I really didn't loose any skylanders for a good majority of the game and even the ones I did loose was like 1 and that was normally due to a small mistake I had made. The Gyro Chopter level I began loosing more but once again due to small mistakes on my part. The arkean place I only lost some because they trapped me (as in I was at a wall i Couldn't move to get out) but more a smal mistake on my part. The last thing was I actually managed to beat Khaos with only Stealth Elf. So that was a little disappointing.

So all and all I didn't find Nightmare mode challenging at all. It felt more like a normal or perhaps even not a hard but differently a degree higher than hard. And honestly, I only say it could be a hard mode due to the increased damage. Otherwise, It wouldn't even be that.

In conclusion, Nightmare Mode was a let down.

Actually, I think games these days don't require as much as skill as the earlier games--but exposure definitely helps.

What level were your guys? Part of what makes Nightmare harder is reduced XP and money, so you have to make do with very basic attacks and low health for quite some time. If you’re already packing lvl8+ guys with all the upgrades (and/or playing with a small army), then of course Nightmare will be quite a lot easier. I’m 30+ now and I’ve been playing games all my life – and for me playing on nightmare with just eight level 1 characters was a fun and interesting challenge (not at all ‘nightmarish’, but satisfyingly challenging nevertheless).

For what it’s worth, anyone who has done and tried everything else should try selecting only one Skylander of each element and resetting them before trying nightmare again. Limiting the number of figures, and making sure they aren’t overpowered, will give you a significantly different experience.
By level 4 I was burning through characters at an alarming speed – one good smack and they’d be down. It helps that I’d saved nightmare for a stage where I had 8 characters I’d never played before, so the new playthrough included learning the new move-sets and so forth.

I think that some folk were hoping for an uber-hard New Game Plus mode that would challenge someone with most the figures and everyone maxed out on skills/heroic challenges/levels. Instead it’s just a ‘normally’ balanced skill level that really should have been open to use from the start.

You know I never thought about doing it this way... True I pretty much played through the majority of the game with only 9 skylanders (1 for each element and a giant.) But they were max out. From what I read it seemed that having a max level skylander would be a bad thing. But it's possible I read it wrong. *shrugs* So I was expecting it to be more challenging and for me to have burn (as some say) through my skylanders from what I read. That's mainly why I was disappointed.

I made this thread because honestly I thought that people (from what I read) were over exhaturating it. That or perhaps I was just good enough.

Just going through Nightmare mode was pretty simple. I enjoyed it a lot more and experienced a lot more of a challenge when I fully completed it to 100%

I ditched my Slam Bam. I mentioned elsewhere I only keep four of each element, and Slam Bam didn’t make the cut.
