It's not deliberately split into separate parts. What happens is that Giants, regular singles, and LightCores are shipped to fill separate orders. If they still have a bunch of W3 LightCores in the warehouse, those are what will be shipping. When past stock is depleted, new stock goes out. It just so happens that they ran through supply of Giants and singles faster than they ran out of LightCores. The things are made and in boxes, I can assure you. It's just a matter of when demand necessitates supply at this point.

They have been doing that for awhile now. They released Prism Break, Lightning Rod, and Eruptor. Before they released the Eye Brawl and Thumpy.

I think it has to do with stock as well. Lightcores were the first out the gate for Wave 3, followed by singles, then a few weeks later, giants. This time it was giants, then singles and now we are waiting for lightcores. Probably has to do with what they run out of first.

No eBay in-hand auctions for them yet either. Doesn't look imminent yet. It's been a very long time since they sent out a new Lightcore assortment, almost 3 whole months. And from all indications, this isn't even the last assortment. Wonder what the delay is on this.

You're welcome:
http://www.toysrus.com/product...ductId=16403226 - lightcore popfizz http://www.toysrus.com/product...ductId=19099576 - lightcore legendary chill right now TRU is doing a buy 1 get 1 50% and it applies to both of these. Right now LC Pop fizz is limit of 1 but you can get both and the discount. Popfizz LC is on pre order so should see a release very soon.

I watched the website and so was the Lightcore Legendary Chill had the exact same release date, then it said the 17th. Then I got my first order of two in the mail today. I would give the LC Pop fizz one to three more weeks for his release. The fact they put up the picture and have it part of the sale indicates they will be getting it soon. I'm only going to say that much for now.

The pictures have been up on Gamestop since February, the exact same stock photos. BTW, any user can upload an image - that's why it says "Share your own images" underneath it. 12/31 is a placeholder date, it means "this year sometime", it isn't code for something specific. It also means they do not know when. And anything of a certain type gets placed under the sale, they don't flag each specific item. You posted "You're welcome" for providing links that have been seen and discussed many, many times as if you found something new and interesting. And your "one to three weeks" is based on what? Wild guess?

Maybe they are starting to ship or they meant Legendary Lightcore Chill. And what's even stranger is apparently TRU is starting to get the Wave 5 Giant cases (nothing new, just a different selection marked W5), the CAG guy posted an image. But no Lighhcore yet.

Anyone else getting the vibe that the Lightcores haven't turned out as well as TFB planned? They put out five figures prior to Christmas, and since 12/20/12 they haven't shipped a new assortment. We've seen numerous other figures come out - but no new Lightcores (Legendary Chill exception). I'm thinking they are shipping out new Waves as stock runs out, and wondering if they simply haven't sold enough of them to run out of their previous wave stock.
I see a lot of them on shelves, and as a parent I get that seeing two figures, one at $9.99/$10.99 and the other at $11.99/12.99 you obviously would want to go for the cheaper one. In the beginning they just had the shiny label, now they have the Lightcore label both on the bubble and on newer ones, on the package too. It seems like they are trying to stress why they are more expensive and market them better. It might be due to an exclusive window for TRU given they have the Legendary and don't want to have to compete with regular Lightcore Chill (whom we suspect is in the Wave 4 assortment). Unfortunately, we pretty much expect there to be two more Waves of Lightcores (one with Pop Fizz/Chill and one with Hex), but all we have is a placeholder pre-order for Pop Fizz on TRU and a vague Facebook post on Chill. It's been three weeks since W4 singles hit and four since W4 Giants hit (and W5 boxes are showing up at TRU now, although nothing new in them - just a new assortment). And due to lack of eBay in hand auctions, it doesn't appear they coming in the next few days. So I wonder what is up. Did they have manufacturing issues (as evidenced by Pop Fizz model change)? Are they not selling, therefore are overstocked with W3 still? Does TRU have W4 on lockdown since it has Chill in it? Have they held back W4 to adjust the assortment and have all three missing ones? Rhetorical questions, of course. |

#29 Posted: 23:10:48 18/03/2013
It's been 2 weeks since wave 4 singles launched and still no sign of wave 4 Lightcores. I keep having it in mind that the reason we're not seeing them, is because there are way too many of the current Lightcore figures, that they are shelf warming. This means some areas may never see Pop, Chill, and Hex if they base what they send on current stock sellthrough.

There's no doubt in my mind that the LCs have flopped hardcore. And it serves them right for putting out LCs for figures with a repose yet without the wowpow (or, in the case of Chill, Jet Vac, Shroom Boom, and Pop Fizz, with a Series 1 pose). They really didn't think it through and I hope that they reserve the LCs for Swap Force only for new characters. |
defpally Emerald Sparx Gems: 4158 |
#32 Posted: 00:12:30 19/03/2013
It's actually coming up on 3 weeks since the singles launched. And yeah, Lightcores warm the shelves. Back in January it was just the original 3 - but now even Shroomboom and Jet Vac warm them. The sad thing is if the remaining 3 are split between two waves, it's going to be a while before we see whatever is left (Hex). I would imagine that Wave 4 would have two each of the new ones, therefore every box would mean 8 more warmers to crowd the shelves. Best case, four of each. I hope the delay is to reconfigure the Wave boxes, because if it isn't and it is because stores aren't ordering restock - then well ...

I don't know. Whether they were LCs for reposes or not didn't really matter as much as that a number of people just couldn't tell what an LC even was. Early on they didn't have the sticker telling them that hey, these LCs light up! How they didn't make the connection I'll never know....or maybe it's just obvious to fans only. LCs might not have a wowpow, but don't they have that special LC flash? Basically, I see LCs as more of a collector item. You don't need them to finish the game, anymore than you need both flashwing and jade flashwing. But they're pretty neat to collect. Maybe they just needed to make a more limited amount of them.

Just because I don't post on your forums doesn't mean I don't go hunting for figures. The fact I already did this last year to the same effect like many you somewhat get a feeling for the pattern in how Activision is doing it. It's less of a wild guess but going on what has already happened in the past in how they have released things. If you have gone to many stores almost religiously every two days during this measure for what would be the second year in a row you would have a good knowledge of how this all works. When TRU starts getting the info up, just like all the previous LCs and figures, they were never that far off from a release. It's possible I could be wrong, but how the timing is, I would expect closer to before easter or right after that Pop Fizz LC will be released, most likely via that app or email. On another note, I just recently started posting here, but I have haunted these forums quite a bit so I don't see many of the threads and I thought I was helping anyone that did not see those links, which is possible like the others have posted on scarlet. I don't see gamestop getting them first, target is quite behind in how they handled their exclusives and walmart will get gross amounts of each wave, but because TRU is what it is and thats what these are, would TRU be wrong at this point in posting it up on their website? They are most likely in the final stages to get you hyped for after easter and the Legendary LC Chill to say oh look there's LC pop fizz

Shelf warming (comment below) AND technical issues have been my theory. Keep in mind that we've received a ton of in game variants the last few weeks and Ninjini was delivered much earlier than anticipated. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get any new skylanders for another month. Quote: GameMaster78
You both are right. There's no coincidence that stock is selling for 5.99 and 6.99--they have to clean out stock. Perhaps consumers are telling Activision that as gamers why do we need a S1, S2 and Lightcore figures of the same character? Quote: tigerdr
Actually, I think Wal-Mart ordered WAY TOO MANY GITD Sonic Booms, and now have scaled back too far in the other direction with Molten Hot Dog. Based on how I've seen Target handle Granite and Jade...not sure I'd let them get more exclusives if they won't order enough to keep in stock.

A great deal of the posters here hunt every bit as much as you say you have done. Your theories are wild guesses, and if you have done some looking around you would realize just how foolish it sounds to jump in and claim greater insight based on hunting. And yes, I know you are new - but no matter how long you have been posting, posting a link along with a sarcastic "You're Welcome" as if you just solved the world's ills is rude. Particularly when it is old news and isn't even valid. BTW: Gamestop got the Wave 4 singles first, why be so certain they won't get these first? Walmart got Wave 3 Giants first, why not these? |

Well, didn't they ship boxes with both LCs and regular singles inside mixed together? I can't recall exactly. If there are singles of the regulars from previous waves, they may not send in more LCs even if they've run out of them until both are low or gone.

Nope, Lightcores and Singles are in separate cases. If they are packed together then it is the individual store that repackaged them for shipping.
And a Target I went into today had a fresh boxes of Wave 3 Lightcores up on the shelf ... untouched. I really think they are still trying to exhaust stock here, which doesn't look good for an incoming release. |
TheLurk Blue Sparx Gems: 533 |
#43 Posted: 21:17:49 20/03/2013
Hmm...I saw some LC eruptors mostly when I visited Target. But yeah, the guy there told me that in order to avoid some scalpers coming in and buying all the stock for a new item, he would place some up, but hold back some so that when the parents came in with their kids they'd actually have some to sell. Awfully nice of him I'd say. But it didn't seem they even had wave 4 stock except Jade in various places.
I didn't know they repackaged them sometimes...maybe that's why when Shroomy came out at Gamestop they had him with some regulars? Or at least I thought that's what the pic showed right? It's been awhile since I saw it. They seemed pretty happy I bought the starter and Fright Rider (had to buy a new one due to someone loving my original so much lol). My bf's nephew never got the game and I thought since it's a good price it's not really spoiling him to get it right? I mean, we have to be careful not to spend too much on kids or they'll expect it even when the pocketbook gets thin.

So, Triple Packs 8 and 9 are - Spyro, Bash, Hot Dog, and Shroomboom, Hex, Slam Bam. Guessing Slam Bam is back in wave 5, but that's a big duh since he's been gone for so long.
