all aboard the money train. CHOO, CHOO !!

In the last of the CoroCoro leaks, all detailed on the site, there are details for Pokémon Rumble U. This game will utilise the Wii U's NFC feature and allow you to use small figures to enter new Pokémon into the game. The game, along with 7 figures, will be out on April 24th 2013 in Japan.

I don't even have a WiiU (yet) but I want those figures, especially if they're going to be done in the "toy" style

I wasn't going to get this game since the others in the Rumble series got tedious and boring to me but the figures have totally gotten me interested.

Welp, I'm not buying it. There's no way I'll be able to afford/want all of those toys and I would hate it if they just cut out a lot of the characters(it has made me lose interest in Gates To Infinity).

For all we know, this could be Japan exclusive, too. Skylanders never came to Japan, Infinity doesn't seem to, and they've gotten a few Pokémon games as exclusives before.

Hopefully they won't make Shinies variants.. smilie

I like the idea... a lot....
but I don't like the pikachu figure they're showing as much..
i'd rather have a full character figure instead of just the top part...

Ah, was just reading this and thinking Dark spyro was gonna blow up over it.

The figures are neat and I'm glad we're FINALLY getting something NFC related for the Wii U. I assume it'll have to scan the character in and then you can play a la the 3DS versions of Skylanders, since you'll obviously be using the gamepad.

Granted this game *should* come over here, I'd guess that the figures are probably made by TOMY, meaning they'll just release them at retailers over here. (TOMY now has the rights to the franchise in the US so) They could potentially do them at a particular store, like TRU although given that they haven't done any events at TRU in a while, Pokemon will probably go to Gamestop.

Those figures look pretty tiny though, no bigger than the gashapon ones. I'd imagine our first wave of figures will be Pikachu, Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott and Victini.

It's a shame, really, that Pokemon spinoffs sucks. I've played Rumble. Sucked. Mystery Dungeon. Definitely sucked. The only one that's ever been decent, are the Pokemon Stadium styled games.

I'll be impressed when they make an actual Pokemon game where you can use these figures.

Don't be dissing Mystery Dungeon. Those games never fail to make me tear up. The gameplay is never great but the stories are wonderful.

As for this game, I don't care if they start doing the Skylander thing just so long as the main games don't pick it up.

Umm, if they make full sized characters and the game is actually fun like skylanders, then I'm all for a pokemon game. If its going to have large heads on small bodies and suck game wise they can kep it in japan.

The figures are $2 each and only 7 (maybe more in the future?). The game is downloadable for $20. Definitely seems like Nintendo is just testing the waters here to gauge interest.

Cheap, small figures and a low-price game. Looks like they're not making the same mistake of Disney Infinity and incomprehensibly charging more than Skylanders, so there's some promise here. We could start and play this game without investing much of anything. Cool.

Considering Giants are $15, Lightcore are $12 and Swapforce will likely fall between $12 and $15, Infinity figures aren't "more" on average.
Tashiji Yellow Sparx Gems: 1453
#22 Posted: 17:48:42 13/03/2013
Infinity offers no equivalent to Giants, LightCores, or Swap Force. They only offer the basic toys, which is all we can logically compare, and those cost more than Skylanders singles and triples. If ever they decide to actually innovate and release specialty figures, expect those to cost more than the standard ones.

#23 Posted: 18:02:10 13/03/2013
Toys are toys and they all work the same, except for Swap Force of course. And do you really want to talk innovation? Just look at the games + features and tell me who is doing more in the same space.

Neither. Toy Box Mode has been around for years with the Toy Story 3 game. It's nothing new.

You know what, that reminds of this terrible Pokemon toy I had when I was younger. It was an LCD game were you put Pokemon figures on a electronic pokedex ( I think it's called virtual trainer) and your suppose to battle with them on the LCD screen. I could never figure out how to get it working. I had a pichu, pikachu, charizard, and dragonite.

Gah, this really isn't worth my time trying to defend this game on this forum, but Toy Box mode in Infinity does not = Toy Box mode in Toy Story 3. Four player online co-op, creation of all new game modes/levels that are shareable online, created levels will be curated and made available for download. It's like a mix of Little Big Planet and Toy Box from TS3.

There is much more to this game than Toy Box mode as well, so please read up on it.

I don't think anyone really understood how they worked! haha

I'm interested into what the bases look like. It'd be neat if they have a Pokeball logo or something on them. I'm sure we'll be getting some pics of them once CoroCoro "officially" releases on Friday. Or at least better scans.

Somehow I managed to easily play V-Trainer back when they had figures of Pokemon like Houndoom and Espeon.

But on-topic, being a Pokemon toy collector since the beginning, I'm excited for this game and moreso for the toys themselves. The only thing I'm hoping is that they release a whole variety of them and give us ones like Silcoon and Magby (just to name a few) so it's not all starters and Pikachu.

For me, I love ANY pokemon game. The spinoffs are just as good as the regular. Maybe because you're way older than me, but I personally love pokemon as much as skylanders. I also plan on getting the game if it comes to America.

The reason I don't want rumble for the wii u is because it only adds 3 POKEMON! SHOULD HAVE WAITED FOR GEN 6 GAMEFREAK!!!! But this looks like another skylanders ripoff, I hope they don't make every Pokemon into a figure, I would rather stick to beating up the Pokemon in game and getting them for free, I don't think adding Keldeo, Meloetta, and Genesect will make buy the game, but knowing myself, I will prob kowtow and start buying them anyway, I said I myself when giants came out, NO SERIES 2, but of course I'm one of those ppl that never listens to their conscience, and usually I turn out okay, I'm happy I got almost all the giants figures tho, but 649 Pokemon figures?! (I doubt they would do that) hell no, I don't even like all the Pokemon, every time I see a Jynx I yell "A WILD NICKI MINAJ HAS APPEARED!" But I'm kidding cuz I luv nicki <3

I definitely hope we get them over here. I cant justify the costs of Disney Infinity, but Pokemon I can always do.

There's apparently a case they're selling for them as well. This is #1 what Skylanders needs to make. It runs for 780 Yen, which is about $8.20. I don't want a baggie to put them in. I don't want to have to go and buy a box thing from a hardware store. I don't want a case that holds only some of them, but cost $30. I just want something cheap, with the Skylanders logo on it that can hold these things we've already spent a ton of money on.
