That is pretty neat. I wonder how they did that.

Very easy. The figure is already translucent. This seller just got the paint off. Seriously, one of my Jade Flashwing's wings has a spot of paint missing on the gold part. Underneath it is a darker seethrough green plastic, which makes her entire wing look seethrough when I put it in the light.
Both Flashwings just had paint applied over a translucent figure.

I thought that is maybe what they did. It looks pretty cool, I think.

I would have been more interested in it if they had done the same to the base.

The base wouldn't have been translucent purple. It would have been as clear as the crystals on her base.

I suggest making the title something like FAKE Purple Translucent Flashwing so people don't think it is a variant

This for sure is one of the best customs I've seen so far, we need more translucent variants like this!

Now there's a fun custom idea that doesn't involve Angry Birds heads or monochromatic paint. Bravo to the seller. Might seem like a simple concept, but that sure didn't stop it from taking five months to happen.

I think it is cool. I hate them angry birds or the ones where they tear apart other figures and put them on ones. AS Tash said I am sure it is alot harder than you think.

I've been trying on and off on my spare one (using pure acetone to rub off the paint), the paint is really hard to remove at the glued parts! And I think the "messy" one I bought actually has dirt flecks embedded inside the plastic, not just surface dirt D:

Okaps, same with mine, still not removed the glue. Thinking best way will be to take it apart, remove the paint as best possible, do a purple clear wash (liek the seller has done) and glue back together. So far for all the effort I have put into it 27 seems lie a good deal!

If someone actually tries this with a Jade Flashwing, the colors from the base and the figure itself may look pretty nice together. To those customizers out there, what's the best way to remove the paint? |

I started doing custom jade today. I soaked mine in a paint remover made by Orange Cleaner. It's not real strong but its working. I'll be using a small piece of sand paper and soft wire brush tomorrow to clean it up. Id suggest getting a potent paint remover to make it as easy as possible.

I really can't tell, but do any of those pics show it on the portal without an LED? I'd just like to see it with the portal's regular glow, instead of the LED illumination.

Your clear custome turned out really cool!! I think I want to pick up an extra Jade to try this!! Is there a limit to how strong of a paint remover to use?? I don't want the paint remover to start deteriorating or eating away the plastic if that's possible!! Thanks!

Here's some on the portal without the leds:
http://i.imgur.com/VovI2tm.jpg http://i.imgur.com/WKbcHjE.jpg http://i.imgur.com/aIDngvD.jpg @Shroomy_Boomy, I actually started out using Orange Cleaner myself but it only got SOME of the paint off and it still took a rough bristled brush to get any off after the first scrubbing. I switched to Oops Cleaner and it worked GREAT! It's the more concentrated stuff in an aerosol can. When you use it you gotta make sure it's not touching any other object that has paint as some of the paint will run right off the figure. It will also eat the bottom of the base if the figure sits under any of it. Other than that it does a really good job. I'm still planning on getting another green led to put in it to light it up a bit more. BTW, the light up effect is all by the portal. There is nothing battery operated or anything with the lights. I'm still gonna do a bit more with it as I'm somewhat of a perfectionist when I start something.
