Good stuff. I wanted to generate an image with no "color" variants...doesn't seem to allow that. Not sure what you meant by "chase" vs. other checkmark. I think we need to split those variants up so those who care can track it, and those who don't can get it out of the image.

Also, when doing the checklist: would be nice to filter based on series or type of item (skylander, magic item, etc).

Also, when generating jpg--I know u have color text descriptions---I need to know what is in the hole that is not filled in! I'm having a hard time understanding what it is. You do it for colors...I'm suggesting u do it for everything for those that want to know VISUALLY what we're missing.

Very slick utility. This must've been a nice project for you. Would love to know how you built this and how you created the jpg.

I've begun re-designing the site (which you can't see yet) which will allow filtering of everything in addition to other things.

Check lists will have almost the same filter options as the image generating script. Filters will exclude store exclusive, chase (random characters like rock, flocked, etc.) event exclusive, etc.

The blank tiles representing missing characters are on my to-do list (which I will add to my first post on this thread). I'm thinking of adding a black / white (gray shaded) image of the tiles for missing characters, and colored for ones you own. Hopefully I can generate these on the fly with image libraries but if not I'll find my favourite photo editor to do it. The down side is not knowing which series the character is from if the green / orange borders go gray. If it becomes a problem then I'll use text instead... (or may just make it an option).

Yes, something like that. Maybe making the gray tiles darker though to increase the visual separation between what you own and need. Another down side though is tiles that I don't have yet (due to characters not available to get the tiles for). For this reason I might scrap the gray images and just add a few lines of text in the middle of a blank tile:
Character Name
Base color
.. any special information will already show along the top if enabled in the options.

On the web server, each tile is its own image and each image is modified between loading from disk and displaying on the screen with the rest.

SG side kicks were added thinking ebgames was releasing them, molten hot dog is there because it's been proven (ads) that it's coming out, S2 Drobot definitely will exist being on the back of the packages along with the remaining light cores. Scarlet Ninjini.. not sure how she got added.

I want to avoid adding characters until there's definite proof that the character will be released as a toy. The other thing is we don't know how they will be released. What filters should be applied not knowing how they will be released (event exclusive / store exclusive)?

I've made some changes to the site over the past couple of days. I'm looking for some feedback on the changes.

There is now only one check list.
Add and removing items is done with 1 click now.
Check list has some filtering capabilities now.
Site is more secure - sessions can time out if you sit idle for too long.

It is not complete yet. Menu links at the top mostly don't work (logout does).

Let me know if something doesn't work correctly.

Ninjini isn't available here in Canada yet so I can't get her icon from Skylanders Universe. I'll add the icon once I get it.

What if i dont want a account on the site but want to see?

Type the name of the person's account you want to see without a password.

Type "tiker" as an example on the login screen without a password to see my collection.

You can use "tiker-test" as a login and password if you want to see the site with the ability to update the collection entries.

tiker-test is the account I use for testing site changes. The collection data on this account has no value so use it to try it out.

The variants should be under the third column of filters (optional) - show event exclusive, show store exclusive, etc.

If they don't appear or are under the wrong filters let me know. I haven't verified all of the special flags yet.

Legendary Lightcore Chill is already on the site - orange base and select the store exclusive option.

Since Polar Whirlwind images (packaged) are starting to appear and since I've read somewhere she's in a guide book I've added her as well. Currently no special flags have been set since those details don't exist yet from what I've read.

Darklight Crypt is the name of the addon set but the toy itself is labelled as Crypt on the packaging so I put the name down as Crypt on the site as well.

My home internet connection is *extremely* fast and permanent. Faster than most affordable hosting services. The site itself is running on 2 HP DL 380 servers (1 for the db, 1 for the web server). It's cheaper to run it from here than to pay someone else to host it.

I have a retired rack with Cubix servers in them...back in the day when 500mhz was fast.

Yes, I work in the IT industry. I have about 10 HP / Compaq Proliant servers of various models (360s, 380s, etc) and a couple Dell servers. They are older servers but still run well. I've got about 4 or 5 of them on and running right now. I need bigger UPS units and more power from the breaker box to power on more servers. For now, the rest are used for parts (hard disks, power supplies, etc.)

They're all in the basement so they help heat the house well in the winter time. My wife hates them though because of the noise.

I have to confess I am running a DL380 as a personal server too but I keep it at work and just SSH to it.

My wife knew what she was getting into when she met me. I had fiber lines running across my basement from one switch to another and enough switch ports to connect close to 2000 devices.

My ISP knows what I'm running. Last time they asked how many devices I had connected to the internet I told them close to 60 computers, consoles, etc. That put them in shock. Then when I had ISP issues a couple years back, the field guys almost panicked when they saw the equipment I had. Since it took my ISP close to 9 months to fix the problem I ended up with extra services (speed) for cheaper costs. I think I'm getting 80% off my internet bill right now for a service costing around $200 (guessing since my internet speeds aren't actually offered as a package).

My lab at work has about 25 HP Proliant servers. Only 3 are in use, rest are just sitting around. I could take them home as well but I don't think my wife would like that much.

I'm gonna guess your first post, with the To Do list and FAQs and such, is updated with changes... I have a request that's not there... (Haven't read this thread except for the first post, too long, too many)

Right now, I can share my collection image as a URL, and the options go with it - such as the option to Hide Blank Tiles - because the options are passed in the URL. The thing is, some people who might wish to buy me Skylanders as gifts would not find the collection image useful, they wouldn't recognize the characters. Specifically, my brother, especially as his twin sons also play Skylanders, he lucked out and managed to get me someone I didn't have (Lightcore JetVac, which would have been a bit disappointing if I had gotteen the Starter Pack rather than the Portal Owner's Pack) for Christmas, but this would remove the need for luck.

So, I would like to also share the text-only version of the list like that, the page where we manage our collection, but right now (or last I tried, maybe last week) if I do, they still have to select options, like Green Base, Orange Base, etc. etc. Options they may not fully understand. I'd love to pre-select them and for them to be in the URL, like with the collection image.

I'll see what I can do about adding an address line to the check list view. I'll probably set something up that shows a URL with filter information for the current view. You select the filters you want friends and relatives to see, then copy / paste the address shown for them to use and have the same filters selected.

For everyone:
I have a bit of a problem. The images for the site come from Skylanders Universe. As we all (should) know, Activision is shutting down the site. Once the site is gone I will not be able to get images for new characters, new and some current characters, etc.

I'm not an artist so I certainly don't have the skills to create the images myself.

So, if anyone here is an artist who can create the small tile images for each character or knows of a site which has images for each character (toy) and allows the images to be used by other sites let me know.

Otherwise, the generated image will look pretty blank in the future with new characters.

You might have to have a guy with a capture card volunteer to take the images of the characters off of the console game :/

this may or maynot help it doesnt have the orange around the ring im sure someone can create it if these images help

I figure the best way is to capture it off of the console, which includes the colour ring, but I don't think it includes the mini element symbol. But the element symbol would be easy enough to copy from other pics.

Not sure how crazyace got pics without the rings but with the element symbols... The thing is, the element symbol is a LOT easy to copy over than the rings, because the ring surrounds the pic.

i purchased the characters off the universe.skylanders.com website it was 10,000 for 30 minutes. i pressed the print screen button on my keyboard and pasted it to paint then opened adobe photoshop and copied the pictures to another clean page.

thats the best i can do. i tried if it doesnt work. at least you have something to work with let me know if this will work

There's a limited number of recognizable in-game characters, meaning there's a limited number of pics needed... 98 I think. You should let crazyace know who you're missing.

Thought that just popped through my mind. What about a link to a checklist with specific parameters?

e.g. I want to carry a link to my "missing" skylanders on my phone opposed to loading it up, adjusting filters, etc.

So Ackis makes a second vote for that idea, LOL!

As far as the signature image - probably not unless I find new icons to use. Doesn't work well with blank squares for new characters.

For the data, checklists, etc., yes, I do plan on continuing with updates. I have a few little projects on the go and I've been working on some of the other projects lately but will come back to improving the Skylanders checklist site.
