Variants not worth there weight! [CLOSED]

No matter what they will never be worth the money people are asking! You can't compare collecting these to real toys like transformers, matchbox and hot wheels cars, these are worth there weight in gold. My wife collects the MH dolls and one particular doll she has I could get more for it than any skylander variant out there! Just because someone has a variant and attachs a number to it doesn't mean it's worth that much.

Really.... Another topic about this? Here give me a moment and I'll post links to the other two topics about this that have popped up in the last twelve hours.

Here is one.... //forum.darkspyro.net/spyro/viewposts.php?topic=75756

And the other....//forum.darkspyro.net/spyro/viewposts.php?topic=75745

Thats great that you think that. You know to me your wifes MH doll is worth about as much as the dirt in my yard. You know why? Because, I do not collect those. Skylanders are worth more to me because they interest me. I don't know why people seem to join this site and then come on here and start these silly arguments. Enough with the trolling. If you don't like skylanders or post these types of things just to get a rise out of people please stop. Move on to your MH doll website and go talk to people about that stuff. You are doing nothing but bringing the usefulness of this site down. We have lost many many good members because of people who sit here and troll. If you have a valid question or point please ask, this crap about stuff not being worth what it is going for on Ebay needs to stop. As it was stated in the two threads above that I posted links to, it is worth what each person is willing to pay for it.

Carry on!

as with any collectable it is "worth" whatever someone is willing to pay for it. I am not willing to pay $1000 for arookie Wayne Gretzky hockey card but that doesn't mean it isn't "worth" that to someone else.

You people who think some collectable is too expensive need to take an econ 101 course and learn about supply and demand and how that affects prices

I don't understand the part about the MH Doll....
but the rarest MH Dolls do NOT go for as much as the rarest Skylander variants....
I know my MH Dolls smilie

The biggest issue is long term, some collectables hold onto there value and even grow bigger. Such as comics, sports cards and certian toys.
However some do not, beanie babys, old furbies, and lots of others. I think it is far to early in the skylanders life cycle to see if they are worth that much, to a true collector sure, but on a traditional collection value who knows if they will grow in value or decrease in value and become cheap in years to come.

who gives a crap. if you are looking for a long term investment buy property.

anyone who looks at toys as a real long term investment is being stupid. especially with so many people now being this stupid there are going to be lots of unopened toys in the future.

buy toys because you would like to enjoy them now ... you could be dead tomorrow.

Anyways back on topic..... I don't look at these as an investment, I look at as something to collect and enjoy.

I am an adult. Also, I was just using it as an example of how to me the MH dolls are worth about the same as the dirt in my front yard. Don't blame me for using your example as an example. You brought it in to the argument so it is fair game.

if you haven't noticed before now, there is not many 'real' kids around here. there are ebay scalpers looking for profits or parents that hangout here only to get info about where to buy cheap. or the usually 40 something cellar dwellers that live at home and have a hording problem... all they have in common is that they act like kids.

it is the truth......

Kappa, That is down right wrong. I am not a scalper. I come here for info on where to get characters and to help other people out. I am getting really tired of the constant crap that you and others are starting on here. It needs to stop. Mods really need to step in on this kind of behavior. If I get a posted deleted for me telling someone to let me know if they see a certain figure, then your post and all of this other name calling crap needs to be deleted.

Most of the people who post here regularly are not scalpers it is the people that don't post on here and just lurk in the background who are the scalpers.

P.S. I live at home.... It's my house that I have a mortgage on that, I work to make payments on. So yes I do live at home. Where do you live? In a cardboard box? I'm pretty sure you live at home too.

I for one am glad to hear someone like you is on the boards.

Great job doing summer jobs to buy some stuff you like. I wish more kids would do that instead of just asking parents to stuff......and wish more parents would require their kids to earn their toys.

when i first started collecting comic books, I thought nothing of taking them out of the sealed bag with trading card so I could actually read the story (X-Force #1 was one of my first). It wasn't until much later that I realized you weren't "supposed" to do that.

I still open my sealed comic books and I play with my Skylanders. and I'm an adult.

My 1970s baseball cards and that Wayne Gretzy rookie card I pulled out of a pack in 1979 are in sealed binders however...

At least two or three people on here have said "there" instead of "their." If you're going to argue with someone via text, at least know enough grammar to know which one to use. Otherwise, the mistake takes away from your point and makes you look stupid and/or careless, rendering your argument moot.

First, Your first post was a statement not a question.

Second, you do realize that Skylanders is a kids game? They also don't put an age limit on who can use the internet right? So you will run into kids.

In order for a "simple question" to get "twisted", one actually needs to exist in the first place.

See bolded comment:

So, when an item starts at $1 no reserve and hits those high numbers, how is the seller in charge of the final price? And if buyers are willing to pay the final price, it DOES mean it's worth that much. Remember, what is the value of something? Answer: What someone is willing to pay for it.

If you're not old enough, you'll learn about it in Economics 101. If you are, you feel asleep in class.

Most of the BINs I'm seeing is more or less in line with the ending prices.

It also depends on how you list it on eBay. The Ninjini I sold for $511 was incorrectly listed, the seller had no idea it was a prototype.
