I don't get how in the world some people are saying nightmare mode is too easy.

I don't think it's that easy; it's just a matter of having so many figures to throw at it that surviving the war of attrition isn't much.
I remember the final boss requiring five guys for me; one of which was practically one-shotted. |

Hell, I find Ambushes in hard to be hard. haven't even started Nightmare yet but I expect it to be a challenge (since one of our goals is not to die)

I wouldn't say it's too easy. For example in crysis 3 in super soldier difficulty you can use cloak and one shot kill almost everyone. THAT is easy. In this it is you that get one shot killed quite easily.
Another example. During the second arena (The one that is in Kaos castle) fight in story mode I got killed so I switched to another level 15 skylander. Before I could even move I was dead again. So I would say it's not too easy. |

the fact that if you have a bunch of skylanders you have near infinite lives, i dont remember ever needing to restart a level in nightmare because i ran out of skylanders, for an 'ultimate difficulty' that you can only unlock by completing the game, its not that difficult, i think nightmare should be the 'hard' difficulty, and nightmare should be pushed to another level.
perhaps if they had nightmare stay at the same difficulty but make it so if any of your characters die then you have to restart the level, that would be good fun, and force some kind of strategy to be used. but i understand the game is aimed at kids, and i cant have everything, im overall happy with the inclusion of the nightmare mode. |

It is easy for an adult because it is merely a matter of basic strategy and having decent characters. The only time it was 'hard' was when I got a bit careless because the damage done by enemies is pretty high. I have done the last level with a single character and I can easily do it with only 3.
And even some children find it pretty easy - the son of a friend of mine, who is nine, found the final level disappointing, even in nightmare mode (his words). Of course, he may be fairly advanced - he started on hard mode right off and the most trouble he has is with the heroic challenges, usually because he runs out of time. But the rest of the game he is pretty good at. Nightmare mode ought to have been really hard, the ultimate challenge because that was how it was presented. Why else would you have to beat the entire game first? |

Nightmare mode is hard when you are leveling characters, but isn't hard if you have them at 15. If you die once though, the enemies circle around you and kill you as soon as you spawn in.

It's more a case of avoidance, and where enemies such as the Shield Juggernaughts, Goliath Drow, Jawbreakers and whatnot can, and will either one shot you or REALLY hurt.
As for the ambushes, oh ho ho, the first one with the two dark stealth elfs forced me through three different skylanders.

Does suck alot when you die and thew crowd around you. Then it's basically insta death on lower level characters. I would love a super hard difficulty with intelligent AI and bossed up characters... but this isn't Diablo 3. lol. SO i'm pretty happy that they put in nightmare mode at all.

Or they enjoy the game and collecting the figures. Nightmare mode is easy. If you're 5 then it might be a challenge. |

Me. They NEED to make it harder. I play a keep away strategy, so i can just outrun and kill the enemies easily.

I found Nightmare MOSTLY easy, just that the big groups and Ambushes were hard (evil Sunburn was TERRIBLE! And evil Eruptors were a pain). And I'm an adult, who uses strategy, so this isn't an age thing.
I found the Magic Items useful in tight spots, especially when they gang up on someone just tagging in.

Well, it's only hard if you do a one-toy solo. Even then, it isn't too hard. Easy and Normal need no strategy, and Hard and Nightmare only require some. As long as you have a good story mode strategy it isn't tricky at all unless the Skylander you use is particularly weak or just not very mobile.
But hey... The game doesn't really need to be hard. I like having games I can just relax on instead of them all being Nintendo Hard. I don't get why so many people these days are upset when a game isn't really that challenging- some games are designed to just relax with. Different strokes... Quote: EmperorKaos
I'm 13 and I'll be 14 in May FYI Either I'm really good at the game (which I doubt) or Nightmare wasn't as hard as the name would imply |

I personally found it pretty easy and only had to use about 5 skylanders throughout the story (who weren't even fully leveled) but it probably depends on who you use and how good you are with the skylanders. If you use ones that your good with and can control and play with easily then its a doddle really.

I used sonic boom and cynder a lot. But if/when I lost those two the problems started. The second arena in the castle was the worst for me. Lost nearly 10 skylanders in there. Usually I used just the sonic boom and cynder and if I made few mistakes I had to use 2-3 more but that was it.

Usually I use Cynder's Shadow Dash or Wow-Pow when I'm in a giant group, and I use Ghost Roaster's Ectoplasm or whatever it's called. Shroomboom, I just set up a Mushroom Ring and shoot some mushrooms at them.

I just bought it for PS3 for myself to play through, and I'm playing first time through on Hard mode and I find it moderately challenging. I can see Nightmare mode without upgraded characters to be pretty interesting---looking forward to it.

The only enemy that give me trouble is the Arkeyan Duelist, and even then, only when there are more than one. Otherwise, you just have to avoid all attacks.
