The reason some of you are getting so many MMs is not because of strict mods, it's because YOU are dissobeying the rules. THEY ARE JUST DOING THEIR JOB. The reason you never got as many before the mods is because there are simply more mods than just dark now, so they actually can take the time to enforce the rules dark may not have had the time to do.

I have modded a lot of posts based around clutter also. Specifically in the Giants news sticky thread and probably soon in the Swap Force news thread. I have done this because people go to the thread for information and some threads have a habit of filling up with idle chatter reducing a users access to information. An example of this is when one user posted an old photo of hotdog and another three users immediately quoted the post and added such helpful information like "Yeah Hotdog". Now everyone else looking for new information has to bypass four consecutive identical pictures of Hotdog. I delete posts like this to help the general users that are looking for information in threads that are reserved for information. These posts are generally modded under cleanup and are not disciplinary they are just idle site maintenance. I do try to leave posts up for about 24 hours if the clutter is not to high and I only like to moderate the news sticky's in this manner.

Without naming any specific names, this is the reason why several of the community members in this discussion have gotten a lot of mm.

And there's also the off-topic, random discussions that sometimes appear in topics.

To be honest I don't see a huge problem in ItsJustMe's actions in that thread, if someone comes to that thread they likely want info, not "OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGMG LIEK I LUV MY GF I WISH SHE WAS CYNDER <333333333 LOLOLOLOL"

but i love it all smooth

There isn't anything wrong with agreeing with someone. It's not spam is it?It's not trolling either?
If they want info, the 1st post of those topic has a lot.

Regardless, the scenario ItsJustMe is describing is just any thread being derailed/becoming noticeably offtopic. Nothing new there. Perfectly fine to delete the clutter. The only concern is that the moderator shouldn't be too anal about it.

Granted, derailing seems to be really really frequent on this site compared to other places I've been to.

I think moderated messages are supposed to disappear after some time. I had a fair number of them a few years back that are gone now, and this was before moving servers. <.<;

This seemed relevant to put here, because I didn't want to make a topic about this.

Why? My post had nothing to do with any posts that broke rules. I go and say something about the game (more like compliment it) and it gets removed by a mod for cleanup? I have an idea of who removed it, as they have posted that they remove stuff like this to reduce clutter. But is it really necessary? If it's about Skylanders like it should be, is there really a need to delete it? I was kinda enjoying my MM count at zero, to be honest.

It just doesn't seem like it should be removed like this...

I am always happy to clarify any specific action I may make. A lot of the deleted posts I perform fall into the category of simple flaming/trolling language issues. I also have explained my stance on off topic posts in sticky threads on this very thread. If there are ever any specific concerns feel free to PM me and I would be happy to explain my reasoning.

#68 Posted: 20:00:56 26/02/2013
Why? As this thread has already detailed several times there are no direct links to a moderated message and site punishment. There are cases where a message is being moderated for reasons that connect to a need for account suspension or banning. Honestly, these are extreme cases and not what is being discussed in this thread. In this case the MM's that are primarily being discussed here are off-topic clean-up in threads where other site users would like actual information and not clutter and idle communication. These are specifically sticky news threads.

I have also moderated messages for language/flaming/trolling/advertising etc. and I would hope the need for that form of MM is not confused with this discussion. I have set very clear expectations and criteria for why I have done what I have done and some (mainly Pixilism) have compiled and presented data to make me reconsider if my standards are to strict.

Other than that the discussion here starts to come off as individuals just being upset they were called out for off-topic discussion and distracting discussion in a primary thread. Nothing has been said by many that comes off as constructive criticism (with some exceptions, they know who they are). Honestly, my deleting a thread that just says something to the equivalent of "Oh Yeah" should not effect you to this level as disciplinary action or reason to fear me for this specific perceived violation of the site rules has not come up.

I am honestly just looking to help improve this site, and have no evil sinister gain in deleting anyone's post.

I do appreciate the feedback I would just ask that everyone stay rational and grounded in logic otherwise the constructive nature of what I would intend to do gets lost in anger and rage which may not be actually warranted.

But this is a FORUM.

There should be an option where you delete posts without giving us MM's.

Perhaps "moderated messages" have gained a bad rep over time because they are often associated as indicators of "bad/banworthy behavior". But they're not necessarily that in many other cases. I wouldn't be too bothered by the presence of MMs. I'd only worry if I think the post's deletion was unjustified. Don't be too hard on yourself by seeing MMs as signs of admonishment.

Explain this.itsjustme. This is completely ridiculous. This is a forum where we can express our opinions and ideas. A lot of posts you wrongly deleted, and you are taking away our rights, and even the sheer form of communication in this forum because you delete posts for "cleanup". I also hope this isn't deleted, as I feel we are all entitled to an opinion, and this is mine.

You do realize that moderated messages aren't just supposed to be for the posts that "cross the line," write? Those are just the extreme examples of it. Technically, "don't spam" and "stay on topic" are written in the rules, even if the language is... ambiguously worded as to what falls in the category of off-topic and spam. Perhaps a rule re-write is in order, but that's ultimately not my decision. >.>

Also, geez, so many people go on this site from mobile devices. @.@

Bravo- It comes down to just repeating the same thing over and over again. Off-topic posts are against site rules. I have been deleting off topic posts. You missing a day of school is off topic and tells nothing about the new game. There are other areas to discuss thoughts and opinions and not news stickys. I don't know enough about the youtube post to comment. I am sure if it was deleted there was validity.

Spyrobaro- say what you need to say and I will listen. As long as it doesn't become flaming everything's good. I would ask as a courtesy of respect you do go back and finish reading my post. Its hard to have a debate with someone if their stance is against listening to your side.
