My Opinion:
Voodood: Pretty hard to find in both triple (which also contains Boomer) and single.
Dino Rang: This guy used to be SO easy to find, now he's near impossible in both formats.
Wham Shell: Always been impossible to find and will stay that way.
Sunburn: The only one of these 8 that's pretty easy to find.
Boomer: Pretty hard to find both formats. Easier to find in the triple pack (which also contains Voodood)
Ghost Roaster: Average to find but the rarest adventure pack character.
Warnado: Pretty rare in singles and the triple is about average (which also contains Camo)
Camo: Same as above^

The thing about saying what's "rare" is simply noting inventory levels today. Tomorrow Activision can ship 5 million of these things and they'll be as common as dirt. I recall seeing Boomer in 3 packs...he was kinda hard to find for me wished I had picked up more and that's when he was available. It's even hard to find them on eBay now, even at $45+ a figure. I'm pretty much in the belief that Activision hasn't reissued stock for him in over a year. Darklight Crypt/Ghost Roaster is a pita to find. You basically have to go to eBay...never in stores. Going for $50+ now. Dino Rang appears to be in limited re-stock. Grab em if ya need em. Camo/Warnado seems to have resurfaced in re-stocking in 3 packs only. I agree impossible to find as singles. Voodood is not easy, but I have seen him in singles in the last six months. Toys R Us has had him stocked for a while. Wham Shell was always a pain but there's enough stock on eBay you can get them for $15 each, which is pretty nice. I now have 4. What about Zap? He's been HTF for me...I saw him in stores exactly twice and he was the last one there. Snagged him while I could. Quote: Matteomax
Link? Can't find him there. I did find a few on Amazon last week and picked up a couple, but they were being shipped from UK lol.

Remember when we were all scrambling for Sunburn? Remember when in January, Ghost Raster clogged up TRU shelves for about 2 months? (At least fo' me) I guess boomer got the praise he deserves. |

I find that the single packs for Warnado and Camo are far more common than the triple pack. Also, the Entertainer currently has the 3-pack with Dino-Rang in stock, as well as some single Voodoods.
And the Adventure Packs? Pretty easy to find.

All these postings about what is common and what isn't are great but they really don't mean much without saying where you are. There seems to be a big difference depending on your geographic location. I'm near Toronto and I've only ever seen the Camo, Warnado triple pack once at a Costco. Haven't seen Darllight Crypt since last summer at Costco. Saw a couple of Sunburns before Christmas at Best Buy for $15 but nothing since. Should have picked those up. Have seen Voodood occasionally at Best Buy and Futureshop but haven't seen him for a month. Never seen boomer. Haven't seen singles for Camo, Warnado, Dino-Rang since November at Toy R Us. Haven't ever seen Wham Shell except in the storage case at Toys R Us. I only really started looking since Giants came out.

Boomer is arguably the rarest simply because he never got released in a Single in Australia. The Triple he was in was in decent stock throughout, but there were literally no singles of him, making him a pain to get if you didn't want or already had the other two. All Adventure Packs were common and the rest of the characters were pretty well spread.

Meh. 1 month ago, or maybe 2, our K-Marts got a whole lot of Skylanders, including most of the unreposed 8.
I saw 2 DC in my Target some time ago last year in December, but they were in pretty bad condition. There are still some Sunburns at my local Target, Voodood they still have tons of, but no Boomers.

Again, it's hard to put a blanket statement on rarity, because it depends entirely on your location. Unless someone picked them up yesterday, they've still got two of the triple packs with Boomer and Voodood sitting in plain sight at my local Toys 'R Us Express in Massachusetts. In my own travels, I've never seen a Wham-Shell out of the "$30 Display Case With Free Figure" available from TRU slightly after Giants was released. Your mileage may vary. |

Based on the Ebay listings and sales, it's safe to say (in my opinion) that Ghost Roaster and Boomer are the most difficult characters to find from "series 1". The "Crypt" adventure pack (Ghost Roaster) regularly sells for $50 (or more) on Ebay recently. Boomer sales, both new and used/loose range between $30-$50 on Ebay currently. Wham Shell is also moderately difficult to locate, aside from the Toys R Us box/castle special. Warnado and Camo are still relatively easy to find in the triple-pack, I find those pretty often at Toys R Us. You can randomly find single packs of Warnado, Camo, Voodood, and Dino-Rang (among others) at some Walgreen's stores. I find the "Dragon's Peak" (Sunburn) package fairly often at Target, although that's hit-or-miss and they usually aren't on the shelf very long.

I only got into Skylanders after Christmas, and I found three Darklight Crypts in the SF Bay Area last month. One I kept for myself, one went to my brother, and one went to my brother-in-law. I found all of them at different Target stores.
I lucked out on one of them because I was looking for two Dragon Peaks, and they had one out so I asked if they had any more in the back. The girl told me that had two and they would bring them out. They ended up bringing out one Dragon Peak and one Darklight Crypt. Needless to say, I bought both of them. |

Camo, and warnado are still in triple backs at my best buy. 3 darklight crypt packs at a local resale shop, along with 2 boomers. Sunburn is abundent everywhere i go. my wife & I went hunting today for the lost 8 (since we started with Giants and only have orange base characters). In Sweden, i can report that Dark Light Crypt & Wham Shell are the hardest to find. As in, you can't. The other 6 are acquirable. Some easier than others, but are available for basically retail price. Wham Shell & Darklight we ended up ordering from Amazon UK (for about 2x original retail)

Hmm wish i saw this a month ago, I had to spend like $45 to get that dino-rang 3 pack, i got it for him and to get s1 zap. I joined the Hunt after Xmas as my son got skylanders from his aunt, he had been asking for it for months and he got it. We started playing it the day after xmas and i was hooked. Managed to find most of what I have wanted and a set for my son. Still need to get the kid Boomer, managed the find the others not to hard. Voodood: Got from toysrus.com, never seen it anywhere else Dino Rang: Found on ebay for $13, then found one 2/20/12 in a target and it was the only non giant they had. Otherwise never seen it here Wham Shell: Ppl say he's rare I've seen alot of these at different spots. i actually have 2 of them in my trunk still, cause of TRU buy 1 get one 75% off on series 1 stuff. Figured what the heck. Sunburn: Found these while in PA visiting family, see them rarely here in NY in target and walmart. Boomer: Never seen Boomer ever. Ghost Roaster: Saw these around xmas, there wasa toysrus express around here that use to haev tons of them, but that was back in Jan so idk if they are still there. Warnado: Never seen Single, only in 3-pack with Camo. TRU has tons of these at all locations around here. Camo: Same as above^ Targets in the area have adventure packs sometimes but no crypts. No series 1 at all. Walmarts: Same as above^ TRU: have tons of series 1 sonic boom, hex, chopchop and other series 1 that were not turned to series 2. |
