That's right. Sont just announced that the PS4 is coming out. It will be in stores around Christmas time of this year!!! I am not kidding!!! It's fricken true!!! They say the controllers will have a touch pad built in. Or, so I've heard from Sony. But it is true. It's coming. My guess is the price will be over $1000, my guess.

HIR has already requested for it to be moved, so Dark or maybe Waka will move it. Though like zook it up said, if a topic for this already exists, there's no point in putting another one there, either way it's in the wrong section so something will be done.

The placeholder price is $899 here so I'm a bit worried that it will be something like that, though if there isn't any backwards compatibility then I'm going for the Wii U instead.

It was just my guess. Each PS went up about $400 each new one. And since this will have touch features, it'll cost a lot more. I can tell you it's not going to cost less. I'm pretty sure it'll cost the same as my Sony Vaio.

No they didn't. PS1 was $299 at launch, PS2 was $299 at launch, and PS3 was $499 and $599. Where do you get your info?

Also, PS4 is rumored to have a launch price of ~$400.

There is something called a preorder price promise which many shops do. If the price goes down, you pay lower price, if price goes up, again, lower price.

It's a trend for stores to have a placeholder price which is a high estimate, so that the store doesn't lose any money when the price is finally announced. If they said £100 for something which ends up retailing for £300, then everyone who preordered at £100 only pays... £100. However, if they say £300 and the price is £100 instead, then everyone who preordered pays £100.

So by giving a placeholder price which is high, means that, due to this promise, then if the price goes down (which it is most likely to do so), they don't lose out.

It's simple business stuff.
