Well, as someone else mentioned there are Forum Nazis about, I figured I'd mention something nicely before they might have been more aggressive about it.

Not MUCH wrong with it really, but there's a natural ebb and flow on forums - any forums - and after a while most conversations dry out and die a natural death, and reviving a dead topic can be like trying to bring back the dead. It can feel tacky. That's all. That, and all it would take is one person going through and replying to every dead topic to make the forum suddenly feel flooded with updated threads to read.

As for the ACTUAL thread topic... I think people like Dragons because they don't look humanoid, they're about the only non-humanoid characters (I can't think of anyone else who doesn't have the two-arms-two-legs form except for the dragons, though I'm not actually checking my collection). Note that I said "humanoid", not human. Pretty much all the characters are clearly not human, look at Trigger Happy's skin tone and ears? And Lightning Rod seems to basically be Thor or Zeus or some other lightning god.

Eruptor is humanoid, so he counts. So's Wham-Shell, so's Zook. So's Prism Break (barring the crystals-as-hands thing). Can't think of the other Earth guys off the top of my head. LOL! Isn't Wham-Shell the Water Element?

Personally, I just kind of like some of the concepts of the dragons. Each has a unique gameplay, so how is the fact that there are so many of them any different than the fact that there are a lot of elves?

Actually no, Spyro and Cynder shouldn't have been included. Despite the fact that I love SkyCynder, I just feel as if it's kind of... cheap. I don't know.

I like SpyroxCynder, it's really the fanbase to worry about.

It's certainly better than BashxTrashwing that's for sure.

I like the characters, it just seemed kind of... like, the creators were positive that it was a lame idea and that's not really how I would want to endorse a product. "Hey kids, our game is so bad that we're just going to throw in a couple of old characters in an attempt to grab your attention." But yeah, the fanbase is very... angry about their inclusion.

But, eh. I kind of like both characters, but I don't like how they decided to "link" them together.

I'm also a huge sucker for dragons. As a matter of fact, they're my 2nd favorite animal behind frogs. Out of all the dragon Skylanders, I can easily relate myself to because I had a huge interest in technical things when I was really young like he did, according to his back story.

Yeah, the dragons = profit thing makes the most sense. xD

And weird observation, but has anybody noticed that all of the in-game flightless S1 dragons have red eyes?

I've always loved dragons.

I own all the dragon Skylanders (except Flashwing, I haven't had a chance to get her yet. I'd have to go to town with a friend and buy her. Last time I saw her I was with my mum and she won't let us get anymore Skylanders).

I miss when more dragons looked like this
and were treasure hoarding, village ransacking jerks who would breath fire onto doomsday.

As much as I love Spyro(though the love has been waning greatly), is it just me or did he start fad like the Sonic recolours after LoS? All of the dragons feel only slightly redesigned to me, and I can't look for old-styled mythical dragons without seeing characters of the kind. One can argue that Skylanders' dragons are more original(and I agree on that with a few of them), but what, in my opinion, is much more original is seeing a gopher, a chimera, a cockatrice, a gargoyle, or something else being turned into a Skylander instead, and I wish we could have those instead of more and more dragons and elves filling up the oh-so-limited roster. Heck, Cyclops Slime is more interesting than Zap to me. At least it's something different.

Now don't get me wrong- I actually like a few of the Dragonlanders- but every single one of them are overrated(even Sunburn and Zap), and I'm tired of seeing them EVERYWHERE. (It's cruel, because I barely see dragons in any other media I'm interested in.)

Of course, the humanoids are basically the same, and my favourite Skylander is humanoid, so feel free to take what I say with a punch of salt.

Oh, answer: because people like those characters. It's no big deal.

i didnt mean it as a bad thing! ^i prefer non humanoid, just too weird if u ask me! i like dragons because, the fly, and they are just all around cool in my opinion

Well, since coming across this topic I've realized that non-humanoid, non-dragon characters are very few... Last time I couldn't think of any, since then I thought of Warnado, a turtle. In such a fantasy universe they can come up with anything and everything, and they limit themselves to humanoids and dragons? Okay, Skylanders is basically spun off from the Spyro game line, but still. That just meant they had to include Spyro. GamingMaster_76 above has some excellent points, all these dragon's are way more cutesy than I'm used to dragons being, they used to be WICKED and COOL and FEARSOME. And where ARE the chimeras, cockatrices, gargoyles? Hot Dog (hey, there's another creature at least) would have been SO cool as a Cerberos! Or how abut Falkor from The Neverending Story? Still cute, but more fearsome-looking. Instead Hot Dog is just as cute as the dragons.

Okay, this is a game aimed at kids, but still, there's a middle ground. This seems to be more aimed at stereotypical boys (look at how few clearly female characters there are - Flashwing and Cynder aren't "clearly", FYI), and boys love fearsome-looking creatures.

I would mind the "cute" far less if there was more variety.

I must say but I love over powered Skylanders!
