I think it this is good. I mean, as Himewad said, why not throw in these little variations of these and see if people notice.

Please tell me we aren't doing this again. Blue lip Chill again is definitely accurate. I know that it is nice to feel like you stumbled something special or have all variations, but that's just silly. Different manufacturing runs have small variations, sometimes due to different raw material suppliers, changes int he process or simply just made in different factories.

You say that, but I think the variations are intentional. That way, some people will buy a green one, then see a blue one and buy it because its different. The ones I have seen locally are neither blue nor green - they are clear. Three "variants" with a single fig, not counting the lightcore or the employee one.

mine is crystal clear, too.

The ones my son and I are clear as well, so should we say there's a clear variant too? LOL

I have a theory..... some of these crystals maybe left over from the LC Prism Breaks. That is why we see different colors of them. They may have done this to make it easier to tell them apart.

So, just curious, what color laser does the blue one shoot in the game? If I had to guess, it would be green, but just thought I'd double check.

I have green (bought when he first came out), he shoots green.

We either have scalpers on here or they've been browsing this forum. Since this topic was started, I've seen numerous "rare blue prism break variants" on eBay for $80 and up. Which is funny, as I've yet to see the green version anywhere.

I noticed a Target near me had the green one, though they were not extremely dark, and a very very very light blue to clear one. I have one coming in the mail so I don't want to buy another until I find out the color of the one I'm getting but I plan on trying to collect both or all three depending on what I find. I'm guessing if you go out and try to collect all the manufacturing subtleties you could go broke a hundred times over, but some of them are kinda neat like the Prism Break crystal color. I can't say I really cared about Chill's lipstick color, I got what I got and didn't bother looking for others.

I emailed a few people on ebay with s2 prism break. The picture they were using was of the blue one. So i asked them if they actually had the blue. One person replied saying they had blue and green and didnt even realize the differences. so I decided to get one so i dont waste my time and gas running around here. And because they didnt know there were different colors therir price was reasonable

From what I've seen from SSA and SG, an Activision factory will release a batch of figures for a particular wave and use the same factory stamp for that particular release, i.e. W4127A. If the same factory releases the same figure thereafter, they use increasing numerical values for the factory stamps.

In your case, you have a PB (W4129A) released at a later date from the same factory. Ive seen up to 10 different factory stamps for any given figure before. Moreso for SSA, when I believe they didn't have as many factories producing the figures as they do now.

Hope that clarifies a little...

Since someone asked about in-game colors, I just upgraded mine last night and can answer that. He starts out with blue crystals and beams. They change to green after his basic (pre-path) beam power upgrade. They then change to yellow after the beam power upgrade on his Prismancer path. Since the S2 figure has the Crystaleer path armor upgrade, green would be the "correct" color. Yellow would be consistent with other S2 figures that feature upgrades from both paths. Blue is just odd.

I checked all my PBs out of curiosity last night. My S1 and S2 are both blue while the LC is green.

#87 Posted: 21:01:31 19/02/2013
Like Matteomax pointed out, the greenies seem to have more "moss" on their bodies, and it looks like their eyes are much more solid red than the blue's orangey yellow colored ones. That should help anyone looking.

I am the original Photographer for this photo. I first posted it on the Skylanders FB page. It was then Shared on another Skylander's FB page and has since ended up here. I just joined this site because I wanted to clarify a few things that are being said here in this thread.

First of all, when I took this photo I used a special Ektochrome setting on my digital camera. I used this setting because it made the color contrast between the two figures show up clearer. I also took the photo in my house where the lighting would also reflect the best difference in colors. In actuality the figures do not look this bright to the naked eye. It can be very difficult to tell them apart in store lighting. They do actually appear quite clear until you hold them in the right lighting. I had originally posted a different photo on FB and of course somebody challenged me because they couldn't tell the difference, so I ended up taking this photo which enhanced the colors.

With that being said, here's my take on the Blue vs Green. The Blue version came out first and is NOT necessarily rare, the Green one is just starting to come out now in the US as stores are reordering stock. I know for fact that I purchased the Blue version first on Dec 23, 2012 at Toys R Us. This was the first release date of the Wave 3 figures in the United States. The UK did not get Wave 3 until sometime later. The Blue Version is actually quite common because many people simply are not buying reposed characters and most stores have yet to reorder more of Wave 3. Last Thursday I went to Gamestop who had just gotten a new shipment of Skylanders which included the single pack Green Version. They also had the 3-Pack with a Blue Prism Break. That's when I first noticed the difference. I left the store and went home to pick up my loose S2 Prism Break because I had no idea which one I actually had. I went back to Gamestop and brought it into the store to compare on which one to buy. The reason the UK appears to be getting Green Versions probably has something to do with the fact that you got a later production run. So in actuality the Green Version appears to currently be the rarer in the US, while the Blue Version is perhaps rarer in the UK. Don't be fooled by listings on ebay who are now calling it the "Rare Blue Crystal" version.

I agree 110%
Your story is identical to mine. I found the green one today at GameStop. They had a Blue 3pack and 2 of each singles (Blue and Green). I bought the green today because personally I like the green one better (The green gem is a little bit darker than the blue and the extra moss gives it more character. When I brought it home I showed my 7 yr. old and as I was showing him the different color, he pointed out the (As he says: extra green stuff) moss. He likes the green one better than the blue also. The great thing is I didn't have to go to Ebay to get it.

If you have the Blue and want the Green, be patient they are arriving in the stores soon (If not already).
