After Skylanders Giants was announced in Feb. 2012, how long did it take for Activision to release the details about all the new characters in the game?

If you mean all actual figures, MONTHS.

If you mean names and certain figures, not that long.

We didn't know all the figures until about August. However, if I remember correctly, someone took a very detailed photo of the poster with all the names in it - we didn't get an official announcement for all the figures until September.

But, we knew a lot of the characters before the poster leak or official announcement.

I remember someone taking a pic of the Power A display at E3, which had the setup for Giants, complete with the poster.

Whoever took the picture, didn't think to get a closeup of the character sheet. I hope whoever decides to take a pic of this year's set up, they get a closer pic of the poster. If there's one issue I have with announced Skylander games, is the lack of info for months at a time. After Giants was announced, we didn't get any more info until around E3, and then it wasn't much. Then we didn't get info until a month before launch.

I don't want that to be the case with Swap Force. They need to keep people fed with info to pass time. Reveal some characters every month I say, plus more details about the game itself.

Yup, it was this exactly. That blogger was certainly kicking themselves in the butt after that. It was kind of ingenious as no one apparently went over to the Power A display, and here they had the entire listing of characters on a little sheet, but no one knew about it.

I'd imagine this year though they got wise and there won't be an image like that. We'll probably get a leak at some point from some sort of reservation card with images of all the characters. I kind of question though with the leaks we had in Giants: will we see online retailers accidentally post listings for the characters again? After all, that's how we learned about almost 70% of the characters it seemed. Could they be much more wiser this time around?

I certainly hope we do have a steady stream of info. The Smash Brothers Dojo website for SSBB was ingenious and arguably helped create a lot of hype around the game. It'd be nice to have something like that for Skylanders (probably not every day. Once a week or month?) which will keep our appetites whet and continue to drive interest in the series up until launch.

Thanks for the info everyone. Guess we will have a while to wait for the full list.

Maybe Activision decided "leaks" was the way to let people know about the figures and characters. It makes people feel like they stumbled onto something they shouldn't know about. But if 70% of characters were found out that way I wouldn't be surprised if Activision knew but wanted it that way.

I also loved the Super Smash Bros Brawl site with newly announced characters all the time. That would be cool for Skylanders too.
