I agree with the poster above. After Giants I'll be moving on to Disney as well. I gurantee you they don't do anything the way TFB and Activision has. Also the figured will be way more collectible. Nice try activision but doing crap like this is what hurts your brand. If only they actually listened to the fans they would see the people payingfor their products are not happy.

I'll probably stick to Skylanders and skip Disney, unless they have a direction they aren't talking about. It is just too Sandboxy to me - those kind of games are fun to mess around with for a while, but I like focused direction vs. do whatever. Disney also appears to be even more pricey, and are going nutso with the add ons - EVERYTHING is a figure to buy.

I'm one that wasn't a fan of some of TFB/Activision's moves, but I find there is room between "all in" or "give it up". You are never going to find the perfect game that is handled perfectly buy the publisher. When they do things you aren't fond of, you complain, and hopefully they listen. When they do things you like, you enjoy it and offer praise, which you also hope they hear. I definitely didn't mean that I would quit the game over this event, me and my sons like the game too much. But, there are limits, obviously, and if they go too far too often, then sure you need to look to greener pastures. Fans of a hobby have room to offer complaints, not everything has to be "I'M QUITTING IF YOU DON'T DO WHAT I WANT". Much like the boy that cried wolf, if you go that path, then eventually it loses impact.

Swap Force looks interesting, I'm anxious to hear more. And I hope that we will get Ninjini nationwide (and internationally too) in the near future.

Not sure why everyone does not see why this is such a potential scalping event. Child gets Ninjini at event. Brings Ninjini home and loads heroic challenge on portal with out opening package. Parent tells child that they can sell Ninjini to be able to buy more skylanders figures and also have money for skylanders swap-force. Then child gets Ninjini when she is actually released. In these times every dollar counts so it is totally understandable.

I can tell you that employees at various TRU I visited today (taking advantage of buy 1 get 75% off on the S1 single packs), they are upset that they did not get anything new to put on shelves. All stores have removed their second section (it is now for summer stuff such as play yard swings) as well. They all did mention that they expect something in the Thursday morning shipment but have no clue. They are hoping for something given the Gamestop exclusive has ended as well as today's event. Take with grain of salt.

Sure, but I just think it's funny how some people were whining and wailing how no kids were going to get any, and how it was "Scalper Appreciation Day", and all this other ridiculous drama, and then at the front of the line - kids. We have parents posting about they got them for their kids on twitter, and all kinds of stuff like that. It's pretty amusing to see all that anger come to nothing.

I think the video of the kids at the front of the line says it all. They were absolutely THRILLED to be at this event. *THAT* is what this was about. Not "scalpers" or grumpy old men who play with toys.

Giants has to have been a kick in the pants for most scaplers. Outside of a few rares (Granite Crusher), there isn't any reason to give money to these jokers on Ebay at the cost of waiting for a few days/weeks. Seeing the reseller prices on Ebay and Amazon for Thumpback and Eye Brawl plummet since they've come out has been heartening for sure.

Ninjini won't be any different. Once she hits the store in force, we won't care about this event at all. Instead, we'll be crying over not being able to find Scarlet Ninjini or something.

But, I totally agree with Unclebob on this part - this IS about the kids, and I am very glad that some got to enjoy this. If all 300 went to kids, then one would have to be incredibly self centered to criticize it. But, even looking at that picture, there are many adults in that line as well - and a couple that are fairly obviously looking to score a profit. I just wish they had found a way to make sure it went to the kids only.

And as of now, there are six active auctions, not counting a couple I saw earlier that probably sold, and when you add in the Amazon one, well it appears to be rising quickly. To quote one that is up for $350: "ONE OF ONLY 300 RELEASED EARLY", and another one: "Will not be officially released until April( as stated from Activision rep) but you can get it now". That's what we meant by catering to the scalpers. And this isn't even a special rare variant - people are going to fleece hundreds of dollars out of a normal, regular figure simply because of the conditions in how it was released.

Sure we can blame it on the buyers, but the scalpers that profit from the fans, are also to blame - and the more profit there is to be obtained from scalping this game, the worse it will be for all of us. I want to be able to take my son to a store to find a new figure instead of going an hour before the store opens so I don't have to worry about some guy rolling out of there with all the new ones in his arms and dollar signs in his eyes. And I want the same for you, for UncleBob, for Gamemaster, for everyone here.

I am a grumpy middle aged man who plays with his kids toys, and thanks to a network of friends was able to take one figure out of scalpers hands. Think its sad to see people getting ripped off on ebay, but hopefully there are not to many ninjinis being pimped out by less moral people. Thats capitalism though.

The people spending gobs of money on regular figures are either horribly impatient, or have money to burn. But as long as there are people like that, there will be scalpers. It is what it is.

Hey everyone just settledown. I found out my daughter had a seizure and is being rushed to the hospital. She's only 11 and episodes that last over 5 minutes usually result in death. Her's lasted about 10 so I'm lucky to still have her. Sometimes things are more important. We will all get ninjini for 15 bucks eventually. Just be glad you have healthy children and let the heartless money hungry scalpers and companies worry about what is most important to them. Money. I'm going to be away from this Site for however long it takes my child to recover and find out what is going on in an 11 year old brain to cause this. Please send your thoughts and prayers my way as I am entering uncharted waters. Suddenly skylanders do not seem that important anymore. I wish you all the best in hunting for your skylanders and I'm glad u didn't make the trip bc I don't know what would've happened if I was all the way in new york and this had happened. I hope the scalpers feel good about themselves for taking advantage of parents who want nothing more than to put a smile on their children's faces. My child is not selfish and can wait till the actual release the only thing I wish is that she is around another day let alone months. You all have been really helpful and I appreciate everything but now it is time for me to go. Good luck to you all.

Yeah, you are right. Don't have to like though do we?

It's not really true capitalism though, it is market manipulation. Scalpers contribute or take advantage of the rarity that drives up their profits. When this happens on Wall St. or at the gas station, they get slapped with fines. There are anti-scalping laws in many states because of this, but they only apply to necessary commodities - obviously not the case with an action figure. But the philosophy behind it is the same, it harms the market.

Amen to that DrillSarge, Internet discussion is just nothing in the grand scheme of things. Thoughts and prayers are being sent your way. May your little one be up and enjoying Skylanders with you very soon!

I warned you about attributing your motivations to other people, it's making you look bad yet again, just like the last two times you tried this kind of thing on me. I see that you are angry about that, but it's just going to end the same way, and you will have no one to blame but yourself.

Just like with all the histrionics about how terrible this event was going to be, all this anger is just a waste. If you can't see how getting that bent out of shape over this one event where a few toys are being given away is amusing, I don't know what to tell you. Like they say - first world problems, and if you see it as an attack, that says more about you than me. I guess I'm all of the above, lawl. All I know is that I'd happily pay a little extra to avoid scanning forums on a regular basis for release news in hopes that I can catch the latest figures as they secretly filter into stores at completely random intervals and then immediately sell out. If "giving in to scalpers" will save me potentially months of hassle over these plastic toys, then in truth, they're really providing me with a valuable service, albeit for a price. I'm just about to say it's worth it and buy one, if I can catch a seller with their proverbial pants down selling it for between $50 and $100. Unlikely, but it would really save me a great deal of trouble to have all eight Giants today and be saved countless store hopping in the future. Heck, I'd have paid anyone $100 on the spot to avoid last year's Camo/Warnado debacle if I had known no stores in my area would be receiving them for three weeks and I'd be wasting gas and time aimlessly on a wild goose chase for nearly a month, so I can't see why I can't do it for this. If any remaining character is likely to reach that level of craziness, it's Ninjini.

I'll defer to the evidence, both threads are still available if you page back far enough. It wasn't me that questioned if it was you that wrote the article, your memory is failing. It was me that said you were ducking the question when Gamemaster had to ask you three times before you actually gave a simple yes or no answer instead of rambling on how he didn't ask nice enough or didn't believe you. I left the conversation after you answered the question.

And you didn't disagree with points, you just swapped "right" with "left" and "conservative" with "liberal" to try and turn it around and it didn't make any sense that way. It went one more post from me about it after you stormed off, and that's because I was in the middle of typing when you left.

And no, I usually don't just give up, especially when someone is provably making stuff up.

LOL! This event truly was a scalper's haven. They had the gall to call this a Skylanders fan appreciation event, but I am seeing people who walked away with 4, sell them for 300+ on Ebay.

If they truly wanted to show us fans appreciation, they would have allowed us all to get them, not some scalpers, plus a few kids, in one city.

I seriously think they should have called it, "Skylanders resellers appreciation event. Get your free Ninjini to gouge peoples' eyes out, because you know they will buy them."

GM, I think you should prove how mad you are at Activision by burning your Employee Stump Smash and making a video of it.
