Since my little on-line Skylander checklist site is becoming more popular I figured I'd make my own thread for it and free up Trexroarr's thread.



In short, login with any username and password that you want. Login and password you enter the first time will be yours forever. If you get a password error that means someone else is already using that name. If you login with your name and no password then you (or others) can view but can't make changes.

Once you're logged in with a password, option 1 and 2 allow you to mark the Skylander toys you have have as owned. Option #3 will generate an image similar to the one linked in my signature below; depending on the options you specify.

A few notes to remember:

• This site is hosted from my home internet connection.
  
• The site may disappear from time to time if my ISP changes my internet address or if things such as power outages occur.
  
• Because this site is hosted from my home connection I will be monitoring bandwidth usage. I will move this site to a proper host if the bandwidth usage gets too high.
  
• I will also make changes and updates to the site when needed. If parts of the site don't work chances are I'm working on it. Try again later.
  
• ... anything else I think of.
  

FAQs:

• Can you add ___ to the list?
  
Characters listed are characters that have been confirmed to already exist. New characters that are datamined, etc. will not be added until they are available and someone has one.

Credits:

• The checklist idea (very plain and text based) was an idea I came up with to make holiday shopping easier from a smart phone.
  
• The image design came from spyroflame0487 and Trexroarr who created their images with Photoshop (or something similar).

Blue Bash does not have an official icon from Skylanders Universe so it's missing.

Since I can't even draw stick people I won't try using Photoshop or anything to create an icon. If there's any artists on the site here who wants to make an icon for Blue Bash (and the other missing characters) grab a copy of a blank tile from the site and put Blue Bash in it. Icon size needs to be 74 x 73 pixels for it to fit properly with the rest.

Awesome site, but kind of a pain to go through each skylanders page
you may think of adding a "back to list" button or something so everyone doesn't have to hit back on their browser twice

Since there are different pages linking to the character I'd have to find some way to determine which link sent you to the character's page.

Clicking back twice or clicking a link to go back is the difference of 1 click. Once you've done your first big update with a new account there isn't much clicking afterwards with small waves of new characters.

I will look into finding a way to put in a link sending you back to where you came from without clicking back twice.

^ You're right, he says snow, snowy, and polar. I didn't notice that before.

They are both flocked, I just think he would use the one that said flocked for the Employee one.

I'll update the names shortly. I don't want to name them after their source (employee). What I had planned on doing is posting images or linking images of the characters on the character pages for you to tell the difference. I have some images but I haven't linked them / posted them yet.

Just so you know you forgot Polar Whirlwind, Molten Hot Dog and Jade Flashwing.

Blue Chrome Chop Chop has been added to the site for those lucky enough to have one can add to their collections. I'll think of a better name for him in a bit.

Made a few changes tonight.

First change allows to filter out by base color. For example:
My Skylanders - Spyro's Adventures characters
My Skylanders - Giants characters

Second update now allows filtering out of chase variants. Any character that is rare and randomly distributed is considered a chase variant on the site such as rock Zook, gold Chop Chop, Ice (clear) Stealth Elf, etc.

Third update is still a work in progress - but the ability to filter out "exclusive" characters.

So far, these include Toy Fair 20xx handouts, TFB Employee exclusive, etc. Question is: Should this flag include store exclusives as well like Royal Double Trouble, glow in the dark Sonic Boom / Fright Rider, Blue Bash and all the way to Legendary everything..? Or perhaps the side kicks since they were exclusive to the USA?

What are your thoughts?

When I logged in first I add approximately half my collection at once, then come out of the site. I logged back in later and added the rest. Only now the site refuses to acknowledge that I have any Skylanders from Anvil Rain to Hex (orange). If I try to add any Skylander from that section, I click on the name, cluck Add and the page no longer changes the status.

I'm using the site on an iPad, if that helps. Just thought I'd mention that bug. It's a little annoying that I can't fully generate my image but I memorise my collection any way

I'm thinking you should leave the store exclusives and in-game variants. Just me personally, but in my collection, I don't bother with chases, but in my brain the store exclusives and in-game variants are still something to strive for.

Are you putting in a space or any non-english characters after your login name?

You have 2 accounts, both named "Buzzthebatgirl " (with the space).

Some pages are stripping out the space at the end of your login name which is where I think the problem is. Before I make changes I want to be sure about your login ID.

Properly I fudged up on my end then. I haven't used any special characters as other sites often can't read/use them. I have an é in my name and you have no idea how many sites can't read it and I get messages with "spkjsorghsj" in it's place :/

My iPad has a habit of guessing my username and all I have to do is tap space to complete the name so maybe that is were the second log in with the space came, I double tapped space without realising it . Both should have the same password then, it just seems weird that the site allowed two accounts with the same name. Feel free to remove or merge both on the database if that makes it easier. Sorry about that!

I guess it could work like this, if you like it of course.

Option 1) Only show the base characters 32 for S:SA, 48 for S:G, ect.
Option 2) Only show the base characters plus the ones that show up different colored in game (Legendary, RDT, Punch Pop Fizz, ect.)
Option 3) Show all Skylanders

should make an iphone/android app of this.

I've removed the account with the space at the end and updated all entries added with that name to the account without the space at the end. You should be able to update properly again.

Originally I wasn't going to make device specific apps which is why I made the website very simple, low graphics, etc.

I am considering the idea of making an android application which will read the account data (like a data sync) before heading out to stores, having the ability to make changes and synchronizes those changes back to the site. The idea is mostly driven by the fact that not everyone will have internet access on the road.

If I do it, it'll be for the Android only. I don't have any iOS devices or any Apple desktops to develop on and test. It'll also depend on how much time I've got to work on it.

If you need an iOS tester, just give me a shout. I have an iPad Mini running iOS 6.01 and an iPod Touch Gen 3 running iOS 5.something or other (can't remember right now) and I would be more than happy to run tests for you.

An app would be useful but you would run into Legality Issues with Activision and whatnots. There was a brilliant app for iOS made by Cherry Hill Tech but it got pulled from the App Store just before Cloud Patrol went live. I guess Acti doesn't like other people profiting from the Skylanders brand :/

From what I've read, an Apple computer is required to run the iOS development software and I don't have any recent Apple computers. The one I have is about 12 years old I think.. (a G3 if I remember correctly).

Also, the amount of testing during development would be so high I'm sure you'd give up after awhile. I've never developed anything for the iOS so I'd have to test things just to see how they look on the screen.

If I can find a developer kit for the PC and possibly a virtual iOS device then I'll consider making something for the iOS as well.

It would, but what would make Glow in the dark Cynder any different than Tree Rex or Spyro in the first game as far as starter kit exclusive go? Then how about characters like Ghost Roaster who is in a set only... I have to re-think the set exclusive bit.

There's not much point in sorting Event Exclusives as a set, you'd end up with packaging differences like:

And don't forget Dark Spyro was available as a stand alone single in Singapore and other countries like the UK. It was supposed to be a single for I think Target in the US but it was pulled for some unknown reason just before Giants launched.

However if possible to code, a manual sort (sort by element type, base colour, etc) would be quite handy.

I'm not going to add the ability to filter by set exclusive for now. I'll stick with 2 filters.

I should be able to add some sorting options. I'll look into it.

Sorry about the other thread, when I searched for checklist it showed up, whereas this one didn't.

I was thinking along the lines of going by series or even all of them and just having a way to say "yes, yes, no, yes, no, etc" without having to dwell into each figures page.

I've added a quick page (currently listed as under construction...) that will list the missing characters with check boxes and a submit button at the bottom. Check off the characters you have and hit submit.

Once I make a few more changes and updates to this new page it will replace the missing skylanders page since it shows the same list but with check boxes. I'll work on it more tomorrow.


I will add as well the ability to add all of the non-special, green base toys through a single (or close to a single) click. I'll do the same for the orange based toys once they've all been made available and will expand to add the new (blue base) characters in a year or so when they're all available.

Now for some comments/observations:

Does it make sense to have Dark Spyro with Spyro under the S or by itself under D (same applies to legendaries)?
The green/orange base was a bit hard to differentiate on the bulk import (just because of the lines). I personally would prefer something like Lightning Rod and Lightning Rod (S2) in the name. That's my own personal preference also partially because I can't remember if green/orange is S1/S2.

No problem. There's more work to do for it but I haven't had a chance to work on it yet with Valentine's Day and everything...

I'm purposely not using S2 markings since there is a confusion over what S2 is. Does S2 mean the 2nd series of that specific character or a character that was made for the 2nd game in the series of games? The other reason is because younger kids (like one of mine) who has an account does not always know what characters are made for the first game, second game, etc. They can recognize the base colors.

I do still plan on adding the ability to add all base characters for each set which should eliminate a lot of the check box clicking with the current page. I added the current page first because that's what was requested.

As for the sorting of normal characters versus named variants (such as Hot Dog and Molten Hot Dog); it was done this way to group the characters together. If I have three Spyros together I want to be able to mark off all three without having to scroll all the way up to the "d" section to find Dark Spryo. Dark Spyro is still Spyro so they should be together. I did have them apart in the past but then people were saying "Legendary .... " is missing not seeing a block of Legendary characters in the middle of the list. I am going to be making some big design changes to the site and plan on adding some sorting options for the generated image and the check lists. This will take some time to finish though.

The existing Swap Force characters are only on the site for testing. I will add the rest as time goes on but right now, no one has them.

Same goes for Jade Flashwing, etc. No one has them yet. They will be added when they become available.
