When i place my series 2 hex it doesn't record it in the characters that i've collected nor do i have the heroic challenge unless it on the portal of power so if i want to upgarde tree rex it doesn't show up on the list of heroic challenges so i wouldn't ever beable to have it completely maxed out? Also how do i fix this problem?

Try to take ownership of the figure. That should do the trick. Did you happen to use this figure in another game initially?

Or, even if it's a brand new, store-bought figure, someone else may have bought it, put it on their portal in order to get the heroic and figure count updated, and returned it. Taking ownership of it in your game would over-ride this problem, though.

This is not unusual... I had a few figures, new from the store, still sealed package, but the game didn't take ownership when I used them. And as a confirmation, if you try to Take Ownership of a figure you already own, it says "You already own this Skylander" (or something to that effect), and it didn't, proving that it was already Owned by some other system somewhere.

This could have happened because Skylanders can be played while still in the packaging. Someone at the store may have been playing with that character making the store console the owner. Best thing to do is to change ownership of the Skylander and it will be added to your collection.

I don't mind things like this, but I feel bad for any 7 yr olds out there who probably just think their new figure is broken.

First of all im not 7 second of all i just want all my skylanders to have their stats maxed

Many stores I've been to have a Skylanders display set up, where if you put a character on the portal you get the preview video, the same one you can watch when you find the Soul Gem... I assume THAT software doesn't cause such ownership issues, right?

Usually, the test station is set up to only play for a short while and does not take retail Skylanders into ownership. However, if this does happen taking ownership is very easy.
