Seems like I've been going to Toys R Us in the states everyday for the last week after they misled us all by advertising new Giants figures -- anyway I found a new version of Eruptor Lightcore -- the figure is the same but the packaging is different - instead of the regular silver band on the bottom it has a sparkly silver - more fancy lightcore band on the bottom. Just curious if anyone has seen these if they are common or not as a collector it's nice having both versions but I wonder if it was a mistake or will be the new standard?

I had run into this also. From what I have heard on here and seen around the packaging that has Eruptor in big letters and no catch phrase is from the first batch of lightcores. With the release of Lightcore Shroomboom and the Prism Break Variant we have seen the new fancy packaging that you are talking about. I was wondering myself if either are going to be collectible or not. I am debating on weather to sell my lightcores that I have in packages with the big font to buy put the funds to a gnarly tree rex and a GITD Fright Rider.

Errors in packaging can make things more valuable. I have a three pack that has sprocket, stump smash and sonic boom, however it has the flashwing three pack label in it.

Yeah, which makes three different ones for the lightcores. I am leaning towards selling the ones that I thought was an error at first and put it towards some of the odd ones that I need.

and how many "normal" shoppers would even have a clue what "lightcore" is ? ... none

so to let the "normal" shoppers understand, marketing suddenly thinks ...

Errors yes. But this doesn't look like errors, it just looks like a change in packaging. If you like having a unique collection, sure, buy it. But I don't see it having any real value.

Changes in packaging can make things more valuable in the long run. Now, this is all opinion. I don't think these will have any extra value in the short term. That is why I am leaning towards putting them up for sale and putting them towards some other ones I want.

Oh yeah! I've seen the sparkly kind before this week in TRU. Ironically, the lightcore Eruptor I bought was the original packaging. lol

Yeah it seems that the new "wave 3" lightcores have the new sparkling packaging. They come in the box with the lightcore Shroomboom and the prism break variant. If they have the other packaging it means it came from one of the first two waves.

More then likely they did it on purpose to make suckers buy more figures.

Maybe, I think that they may have done it to make them stand out more.

i saw a lightcore drobot with a sparkly and lights up sticker. that means it was in a wave 3 box, right?

Yeah, that is the general felling thump.

I think probably the biggest reason is that outside of people who follow or know a lot about the Skylanders series didn't even realize they light up. You'd be surprised what simply adding a "lights up!" sticker could do to a product.

Speaking of which, the LCs don't seem to be selling well (or at least the S1 guys getting the treatement). Hopefully if they do continue the LCs in the future, they do just new characters.

Why do you think they are not selling well? I think some people see a lot on the shelves and assume that they are not selling. It could be just had better stock this time around.

Target now has the triple pack of the first 3 released Lightcores so the singles might not sell as well because of that. I have not seen many of Jet Vac.

thanks guys for all the comments and info -- so far it just seems to be a variant packaging although i've seen Shroomboom Lightcore with the same crystal foil so maybe that's how they'll be doing em from now on!

looks the same to me i have 3 lightcores and they all had the same packaging

A lot of the new packaging has not hit the stores yet. Place you are most likely to see it is in TRU as that is the only place I have seen Lightcore Shroomboom.

Found the different packages for Eruptor and Drobot today.

I saw like 50 of these at best buy yesterday

So... it appears that the "holographic, shiny" labeling will be the norm going forward? It appears that the last LC figure with non-shiny flat silver labeling is ShroomBoom. Newer Shrooms, Employee Exclusive PB, Flocked Polar PB, and even rereleased Jet Vac appear to only have the newest labeling.

From a collecting standpoint, seems like the ones with flat silver AND character slogans will be hardest to find, if they even exist for some? I've not seen it for Jet Vac...

I've seen it for all 4. No Shroom as I haven't seen any LC's of him at all.

Found a LC shroom at bestbuy this weekend, first time ive seen one outside of amazon.

i know my prism break from day 1 has his catch frase under his name. but my 2 newer LC have the large bold name. I want to open my LC but now im not so sure.

I have seen some of the "old large font" with the new sticker on them. My guess is that they are old stock and they threw the stickers on them.

Yeah, but that wouldn't explain the ShroomBooms...

Maybe they had some of the old stuff that hadn't been used yet and to make sure they used it, they did on the shroomys.

I bet the flat silver Shroombooms are gonna be the rarest. Or if somehow, L-LC-Chill gets out with it.

They certainly are not rare here. Every one I have seen at every store has even the flat style.
