They haven't released him in a single pack yet, but a lot of people (like me) have extras they don't need if they bought both of the cannon battle packs in order to get the silver and gold cannons. So if you don't mine a loose figure, you could probably find one to trade.

I just find it odd that they would sell a single Chop Chop right next to a peg containing Chop Chop with a Canon. One would almost think that TFB is trying NOT to sell Canon's.
I keep having it in mind, that Shroom/Chop and Hot Dog/Zap will remain exclusive to the Battle Packs. Now I know that this is where someone comes and says, "B-b-b-b-b-but, GameMaster, they list them on websites like Gamestop.com." Well, to that I say, I've seen all stores list items that have never gone into stock and are eventually removed, due to a lack of proper information. Case in point, the "Green" Warnado listing on Gamestop.com. Been there forever, but it's never been anything more than a listing. It's the nature of humanity to make mistakes. I just don't see the logic in selling Chop, Zap, Hot Dog, and Shroom by themselves, while people would have to double-dip, if they want the Canon and Catapult. I forsee Skylanders inside of Battle Packs being just like Skylanders in Adventure Packs... exclusive.

The Green Warnado was available ONCE, but sold between school hours.
It's just a regular GITD Warnado.

Yikes. Matteo, he was just asking. No need to get irate with him. Mods should demonstrate good patience - in my opinion.
Kevin, no one knows for sure. There were listings on various websites of a single pack Chop Chop and Shroomboom, as well as a single pack Hot Dog. However, it's my assumption that maybe - just MAYBE - they were error listings. My theories lead me to believe that the Skylanders in Battle Packs are exclusive to them, like Skylanders are in Adventure Packs. I just don't see much logic in TFB releasing single packs of Hot Dog, Zap, Shroomy, and Chop, seeing as any collector/fan probably has them from Battle Packs, and for one to get ALL items for Giants, it's a must to own a Canon and Catapult. TFB probably doesn't want to diminish sales of their Battle Packs, by making it more convienant to get the figures by themselves. It's probably why we don't see Location Items and Magical Items from the Adventure Packs sold separately, even though most - if not all of - SSA packs are considered "retired." If you want them, you gotta have the Skylanders that come with them, regardless if you have them or not (Series 2).

I wouldn't put it past them to make singles simply because they can get that much more money from the collectors or the kids who passed on the battle packs because of the price. And Molten Hot Dog has to be distributed somehow, so it stands to reason that it would be in a single. And if they'll do a single with him, why not Shroomboom? And at that point, why not Zap & Chop-Chop?
Either way, no one but Activision, Toys For Bob, and the people who make them know for sure. And even then, things change. They could suddenly put out Giants 3-packs without warning just to clear out inventory of Bouncer, Crusher, and Swarm. Anything is possible. I grabbed up S2 Stealth Elf and Terrafin for the kids for Christmas only to find out that a 3-pack was released with them in it. Patience...We will all know eventually.

I could see that being the case, Mori, but then it begs to question why Toys for Bob didn't do the same with the Skylanders in Adventure Packs from the first game, which then also allows said collectors you mention to get those figures in single packs, but also allows late adopters to get those figures should they not want the Magical Items/Location Items, PLUS if they need 2 of the 8 Skylanders that didn't receive Series 2 counterparts.
That's why I think they may not do singles of them. I could be wrong, because most of the times assumptions are wrong. However, sometimes they're right.

Like you said, they did make S2 counterparts of two of the four adventure pack figures, which does open it up for the late-comers, but if your area is like mine, the adventure packs are still hanging around. I see the Dragon's Peak and Empire Of Ice packs quite regularly, Darklight Crypts here and there, and an occasional Pirate Seas. That tells me they still have stock they're trying to move, so why not get those packs out there and get what money they can from them?
Also, selling individual figures from multi-packs could be a new line of thinking. "Hey, we didn't move all these at this price point...why not offer another option and get what money we can?" It's not unlike businesses to change their line of thinking in the middle of everything. Take, for example, the Bioshock Ultimate Rapture Edition. Or the Assassin's Creed Ezio Trilogy. Both are repackages of product that probably aren't moving as well now that they've been around for a while. It's a quick cash-grab for product they already have and may reach a new audience. On a completely opposite side of the coin, they could have thought from the beginning "singles of everyone" and then repealed that thought after the fact seeing that they are moving enough multi-pack product. Personally, I was surprised to see the Stealth Elf/Terrafin/Eruptor pack after Terrafin has been available since the game released. The same with the Drill Sgt./Lightning Rod/Prisim Break pack. Singles would seem to net them more profit in the long run, but if it requires more effort than is worth it to package them, then stick to what's working.

Matteo, I've had the same idea. Release the 8 unreposed Series 1 in a package together. The first ever 8-Pack. This allows everyone to get all 48 unique Skylanders by time the remaining characters release. Also, they need to sell the Location Items and their respective Magical Items in a a new type of Adventure Pack. This brings me to what Mori said. I know that the Adventure Packs still come out, but what if people don't want 2 Slam Bams and Terrafins, but only want the Location Item and Magical Items? They got to own 2 figures when they only want 1? The thing is, some people out there don't want to double-dip. They don't want five million Hex Skylanders, each new one with one new move. How do you make a collection of characters look good, 80% of each new game's figures will be reposes of old characters? I buy them, but I am the absolute Skylanders nut. If they had a Skylanders Nut House, I'd be the first patient admitted. However, there are those who are "smart." They won't happily give their money to characters they already own, no matter how good the new moves are. So, how do those people get the Location Items and Magical Items without sitting on a Skylander they may already own (Series 2 Slam Bam and Terrafin for newcomers who didn't buy into the first game)? That's why I think they should have released the Location Items and Magical Items separately with Giants, in cool little packaging. That way, people could have their Series 2 Slam Bam and Terrafin, without having a character that won't do a thing for them, because they have a better version.

I hear what you're saying, GM, but think about it from Activision's stand-point; they've basically said "spend your money how we tell you to".
They're going to provide a product people want at just the right cost and price point with just enough options for those who want to purchase the bare minimum. I know there are those out there (you included) that will buy multiples of each figure for collectible purposes. Hell, one of my good friends currently has 15 Chills in his possession until he figures out which ones he wants to keep in his collection and which are going to be returned. (An intervention has already been mentioned.) The point is, people will buy them and they will make a profit the best way they can. I was against purchasing reposes at first, but alas, my kids want them all. To be honest, I was against the game (S:SA) from the beginning. But then we got it on sale for 1/2 price in Jan./Feb. of 2012. At that point I said we would get 1 of each element and be done. Nope...the wife and kids wanted their own figures to play with. 6 months later, we have nearly every figure plus some extra stuff. And that right there is where they're hoping to hook everyone. Get a taste for it and then go for a little more each time. If you look at it, the marketing is absolutely brilliant. Most games are $60 upon release and then drop in price later in their shelf life with the resale market making them more accessible to people like me that have no money. (Motorstorm for $2? Hell yeah! ) But with Skylanders, you've got a game that cannot be resold without a portal and at LEAST one character, otherwise, the secondary buyer is going to have to purchase other new items. Unlike most games on the market, the "DLC" (extra characters, levels, sidekicks) are already programmed into the disc. If you look at a new copy of S:SA, you'd spend roughly $70 (that's $US for those reading outside the States) for the game, portal, and 3 figures. Then you need to purchase the 4 level packs at $20 each to have all the levels. But now you still only have 6 of the 8 elements accounted for, so another $20 for two figures to unlock every single path and collect all the special items in the game. Already, you're up to $170 to get all the content (not including characters) that are already programmed onto the game disc. The reason I bring that up is because so many people cry foul when a developer has Day-1 DLC that costs an additional $10 and is only a few KB of data to unlock where-as post-release content is usually multiple MBs of data. No one is complaining about this with Skylanders because Activision has done such an amazing job of marketing the game and figures. Making them desirable to children and collectors. So, no matter what we WANT as consumers or would like to see happen in the future, they've already conditioned us to spend our money how THEY want us to spend it. Look at how many Battlegrounds game packs sold just because they put Royal Double Trouble in the box. Or Gnarly Tree Rex's with the Wii bundle. And the lowest-end 360 bundle (4GB of memory? REALLY?) for a green Gill Grunt. We may not like their practices, but they've got us by the short hairs and they're going to keep leading us around until they run the series into the ground like they did with Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk. But between you and me, I hope they give us at least 2 more solid titles so my kids and I can continue to use all these figures for a while. If I ever get a 3DS and 3DS copies of each game, then maybe I'll feel like it's a valid investment since the titles are so very different from the console versions.

Well, as long as they stay 1 per year, they should be fine. As long as they don't milk Series *insert number here*, they should be fine. As long as they can make a longer game than Giants was, they should be fine. As long as characters stay at 9.99 and 24.99 they should definitely be fine, because that will steal a "bit" of thunder from Disney Infinity.
I do wish, though, that TFB would do for Skylanders, what Disney has planned for Infinity every year. They're going to patch previous games each year, to make future games' characters playable in past games. I would love to go through Spyro's Adventure with Pop Fizz, Flashwing, Chill, Hot Dog, Sprocket, Fright Rider, Jet-Vac, and Shroomboom. I know the whole marketing behind it, and that's why I think they will keep the 4 Skylanders in the Battle Packs exclusive. They can get an additional 5 dollars for those who want the Skylanders alone.

I'd like it if they milked it with a new game expansion in the early Summer every year. New game and figures in the Fall. But in the Summer we get a new game that uses all the figures from the previous Fall. Don't add new figures, no Starter Pack or Portal Owners. Just a new game/expansion. Give us more to do while we finish up our collection for the year, they don't even have to add new features, just a level pack sort of thing in a side story.

I'm currently playing Giants with my daughter when we're able to. We've averaged about a chapter a week. At this rate, they'll have announced Skylanders 3 and wave 5 should be out before we get to the end of Giants...so I think we've got plenty to keep us busy for a while.

I actually thought that they could release three three packs that have the non-reposed figures in them. Between the 8 non-reposes and Dark Spyro, they could do it.
