if you recall last years official reveal trailer for giants which first appeared in february, my speculation about skylanders 3 is we will hear about it for the first time some time next month and it will be released on the third sunday of october like all previous releases. that day will be the 20th of october.

I expect this year may be different as Gen 6 of Pokémon is set to hit a hard world release in October tis year. This is a lot of the same fan base and many fans will go pokemon over skylanders.

I predict they move their time table to a release the last week of Nov to correspond with Black Friday or move it up to September with a strong focus on desireable figures being released just before Christmas.

I'm going skylanders if they release in October because I refuse to buy a dumb 3DS. Congrats on losing a customer, and I'm sure many more!

You're thinking of the Vita. The 3DS pretty much replaced the DS in the hearts of everyone who likes handheld gaming now. And besides you're missing out big time on some great titles. RE: Revelations, Kid Icarus, Rhythm Thief, Theathrythm, Harvest Moon, and some upcoming titles such as Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, and so much others.

Really, the only reason not to buy a 3DS is because you just prefer the Vita that much, the 3DS pretty much improves on the DS in every regard.

Pokemon has been on the DS for waaaayyy too long. DPP, HGSS, BW1/2...that's quite a lot for one system. Game Freak has had 3DS dev kits for a while; if you didn't see this coming you must be as blind as a bat.

But that's discussion for another thread. In terms of Skylanders 3, we'll almost definitely see it appear at Toy Fair in a few weeks, along with a reveal and a handful of new characters appearing. HOPEFULLY if Power A happens to have a "dummy" retail section that happens to have all of the Skylanders on it but no one paid attention to it that more blogs will be more hawk-eyed this year. I can't see that happening though however.

Release will probably be at the same time again- October. Although ItsJustMe is right that the game will be up with some stiff competition from Pokemon, the same thing already happened with Giants- Pokemon Black and White 2 were release on October 11th in Australia, October 12th in Europe and October 7th in US; Giants launched in 17th in Australia, 19th in Europe and 21st in the US. Arguably, more people will probably go for the new generation of games but I don't see it really effecting sales as much, especially in the long run.

I new they were gonna kill off the DS a long time ago, I gotta give em props for lasting this long. I just got a DSi for Christmas ( my DS lite just died ) and I love it. Can't justify buying a brand new unit which the 3DS is more expensive. Back on track though Skylanders doesn't have much to compete against, sure pokemon is a big franchise but does it take up a whole isle at every retail store you walk into?

I bet at Toy Fair this year, they will reveal beta gameplay, and a FEW figures (S2's of the currently un-reposed). And, of course, some lucky fellas will get their own Toy Fair exclusive variant.

Both Pokemon and Skylanders do that. But kudos to the smart people who will buy both games!

Ok after seeing you say this on several topics i just gotta ask....why are you here if you're not pro more skylanders figures and games? If your a fan you would be excited.

all I can say is they better step up their game as the have competition now. figures and gameplay wise they shud also think outside the box. make those darn cards useful. Activi/TFB look into "Eye of judgement" tech and apply it to your cards. wudnt be nice?

I couldn't agree more. I love my 3DS and have played some great games on it. Sure it does not have as many games as the DS yet, but give it time and more and more will release.

Plus Pokemon X and Y are finally a 3D remake of the games and not just improved top-down graphics.

Back to Skylanders thoug, I think Skylanders will want to push release a little bit away from Pokemon. Those games will sell millions of copies. Releasing further away from Pokemon will probably help.

I'm pretty sure that was at E3 and not toy fair, but I could be wrong.

I'm looking forward to their next innovation. If they get nuts with multiple variants of the same character like they did with Giants I'm going to start vetoing my purchases. Also, MORE ORIGINAL characters...stop re-using them for crying out loud.

It's hard to just say "more original characters". For those of us who are consumer junkies and buy EVERYTHING... yeah, we want new and different characters.

But for the average parent who just wants to buy some of the characters, re-releasing the old characters is preferable. After all, if little Timmy wants to collect them all, with Giants, he already has most the characters. He only has to buy 8 Giants and 8 New Characters. If, instead of re-poses, they went with all-new characters... getting all the characters just got really expensive.

I will say, I'm not a huge fan of releasing both reposes *and* Light Cores of S1 characters (or heck, even the newcomers). I really feel that only one model should be released per game (aside from the various alt-deco figures).
