Today I called GS and asked if they have Thumpback and Eye-Brawl and he said they're expecting a shipment later in the day and that they will receive 40 Thumpbacks and 40 Eye-Brawls. So I went to GameStop later that day when their shipment arrived, but has not been processed yet due to shortage of staff. I'll have to go back tomorrow to check what they had in their shipment when everything is processed and up on display. So does this employee know what hes saying when he says there will be 40 of each? I find this hard to believe since these giants are still hard to find.

Unlikely, but if this GameStop is in a densely populated area, maybe they have that kind of buying power.

I doubt they even know what they are getting. My gamestops are only able to tell me when they are expecting shipments but not what is in them, I know they are not lying to me because I got 4 phone calls from different stores when they got them in. I think they are just as excited to sell them to me as I am to buy them.

What is the makeup of the boxes? Isn't it 2 Thumpback, 2 Eye Brawl, 1 Hot Head, and 1 Crusher?

That means they would have to get in 20 boxes.

Their shipment comes by UPS, not USPS (They are closed today).
I believe UPS is still open, not positive but pretty sure.

Most GS get their deliveries from UPS or Fed-Ex. They both deliver today.

The number of government holidays are a joke. People should be in school and at work today. MLK Jr was an incredibly important person in the history of this country, but government workers (and bankers and whoever else isn't working today) don't need the day off to reflect on his importance.

There are a set number of government holidays, and strict rules on how they appear. They cannot come two holiday days in a row (or Friday and Monday) or in the same week, the intention was that it would prevent people not having access to services for extended period. They are sometimes called "bankers holidays" since banks are closed, but they are typically only closed because the Fed is closed, so they cannot interact with each other or process transactions. Also, when a holiday appears on the weekend, it will be shifted to Monday or Friday instead of being skipped.

When MLK's Birthday was established, they changed Good Friday so it was not a holiday (which since it is a religious holiday, was for the best given the First Amendment). No days were added or removed. If they changed MLK, it wouldn't be to remove a day, that day would just be moved somewhere else. There are a set number of legal government holidays.

While I agree that MLK himself would probably not have his life celebrated by not going into work or school, given that he fought for the right to go to school and work - it is in recognition of not just him, but the whole movement to rectify denial of civil liberties. And for a country that prides itself on civil liberties, that is a big deal. The day isn't meant to just recognize him, it's just that his birthday is when we chose celebrate it. Just as we chose George Washington's birthday as a time to celebrate all of our Presidents accomplishments as President's Day, not just Washington.

Thanks for the history lesson. All I said was there are too many holidays. People should be working and in school. We don't need an additional "off" day to recognize every single event. Kids already get plenty of breaks from school, and adults have vacation days.

Well, I wasn't trying to zing you with history. There are 10 government holidays, less than 1 per month total - and we don't take that many, it just seems so at times because the way some are clustered around Christmas when people already take off. But, I will say yours is a very American point of view. We consider days off a luxury here, something a business gives because it has to give them to hire people. In other countries, time off is considered a valuable resource for getting the best out of your employees. The concept of "vacation carry over" is frowned upon elsewhere, because they believe if you are not taking the appropriate amount of rest and time to yourself then they are not getting 100% out of your time at work. In other words, you are short-changing them.

My wife used to work for a British company, and in order to carry over days for the year, you had to get management approval with a good reason for not having used them. I work for a very American company, and they think nothing of telling you to alter vacation plans, or setting maximum number of carry over days - after they put you on assignments that don't allow time to take all of it. Use it or lose it, but don't let it interfere with the release schedule.

It is two very different ways of thinking, one thinks time off is an inconvenience, and "resources" should be utilized like burning a candle at both ends, to be replaced when it suits a need. The other values employees as people and assets that grow in value. Happy and rested workers do far better work than stressed out ones do. And it isn't just a management, people also come to that point of view. They come in sick. They call into meetings from vacation. They come in early and stay late. They skip events for their kids. Deny attention to their spouses. It is very self destructive.

To be frank, your original reads more like "MLK Jr. Day is a joke and there's no reason why he should have a commemorative day in his honor". In fact, it's the ONLY "government holiday" singled out by you. But, ok. smilie

Seriously ppl in this country work too damn much. I for one enjoy the day off. I wish there were more. Life too short ppl should be able to work their 40 hrs and be free to spend time with family and friends.

Come off it. He was merely pointing out that there are too many holidays taken by City/Government, (Banks included), and schools. In his original post, the last point that was made, he said that MLK Jr. was a very important person. That should go without saying that his post meant nothing taken away from what MLK Jr. accomplished. AND, why don't you stop and consider WHY the only holiday mentioned was MLK Jr.......could it have been because he posted it ON MLK Jr. Day?? I'm sure if it had been on Presidents Day, or Good Friday, or one of the many other holidays he would have used THAT holiday as the example. Jeez, chill out a bit. You are looking too far into a harmless comment and taking it out of context.
