Silver / Gold Skylanders, way to verify? [CLOSED]

Hey all,

I acquired a silver dino-rang (as well as a metallic cynder, flocked stump smash as well as other rare-ish figures) and was just looking for a way to verify that they are not fake / custom. They are both out of package, however they definitely look legitimate. The silver paint is solid all the way around with no indication of hand painting, etc... Do they variants have serial numbers that can be cross-referenced for authenticity sake?

Thanks!

the short answer is no ... and the "special" flag has only been added to the giant variant figure coding so you cannot check original ssa variants that way either.

I know the GITD figures have a unique number on the bottom (not at my figures or I'd check it), that is the same for Wrecking Ball/Zap/Warnado. I haven't opened up any of my gold or silver figures, but perhaps compare the number on the bottom to the regular version of the figure? Do they differ? It could be they realized after gold and silver people were faking the figures, and decided to add another precaution to the GITD figures.

I did check the serials vs the normal figures and they are different. I just want to see if there is a way to verify, especially if I end up finding more that I'm interested in purchasing.

Thanks.

The best way to determine the SILVER variants are to look at the factory stamps.
- If Unopened, then look on the back (lower) of the packaging.
- If Opened, then look on the bottom of the figures base.
(For example, a normal SSA Dino-Rang has a factory stamp of W2121 (or some 4 digit number combination similar to this), while a Silver Dino-Rang variant should have a factory stamp starting with the letter E and some 4 digit number combination.) Point being the factory stamps should be different with the Silver variants.

The Gold variants are harder to determine using this method because the factory stamps are similar on both the factory and Gold variant figures.
As a secondary verification, ask the seller if he/she can verify that the Gold variant has 2100 gold coins/ L5 character strength pre-loaded when placed upon the portal. Activision started pre-loading this perk first, with Gold variants. Obviously, this is NOT difinitive confirmation, but makes a strong case that it is indeed authentic.

Good luck!

Good to know that there is at least a CHANCE at validating... mainly because I just purchased this lot of beauties:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Collec...=p2047675.l2557

I know a bunch of them are loose, but at that price I just couldn't pass up the lot. I expressed concern to the seller and inquired about how they were obtained and why they were unboxed. The explanation seemed completely legitimate (even why they created a new account) so I think I just got a pretty great deal. It helps that some of them are still boxed (will check glue, etc..)

What do you guys think?

All things considered, it appears you got a good deal! The Silver Eruptor "looks" to be legit. If you need help with validating the factory stamp i.d.'s let me know, I also have these figures in my collection.

Got the lot of figures in today. I'm 99% sure they are all legit. The only thing that worries me is that the gold figures (all 3 of them) don't have any kind of serial number. Here are my findings:

Silver: E3119
Gold: NONE
GITD: W1126
Glitter: E3129
Stone: W3127
Sidekicks: E1127A

Each one in those categories have the same Serial, and the one Silver double I had has the same serial as the others which adds to the validity I think.

DluA, It seems like the GITD Warnado is smooth / shiny while the other GITD figures seem matte / dull color. Is that consistent with what you have?

Let me know if you want pictures of these guys and or pictures of my collection right now, it has to be over 100.

I compared my gold flameslinger to the regular one and the base of the gold one (under the green plastic) is definitely gold. On the regular flameslinger, you can see some of the red plastic through the base. So unless they were able to take the green plastic off, paint the bottom and then perfectly put it back I believe the gold ones are real. Just wondering why mine don't have serial numbers?

My GITD's are still in their respective packages, but, they all seem to have the same sheen and consistency of paint. The GITD's should have a factory stamp of W112(x).

As far as your Gold's go... There should be factory stamps that were stamped on the green base along the lines of W012(x). To my knowledge, I don't think it's that easy to get rid of!? Perhaps your figure did not get stamped at the factory (as we've seen all kinds of factory errors in both Skylander releases), or perhaps the green base was replaced for some reason.
Were the figures at L5/2100 gold coins?

Was $30 for a Gold Drilly a good deal?

Sorry for off-topicness.

I don't necessarily "look" for opened ones. I was just cruising ebay and imo, this deal was too good to pass up. Less than $20 per item is awesome. BTW, I tried the figures on the portal and the Gold + GITD ones showed up as L5 w/ 2100 coins, however the Silver ones as well as my previously owned metallic cynder do not. Is this consistent?

On that note, it's still interesting that the gold figures don't have any serial numbers.

As I previously mentioned, the L5/2100 gold coin perk started first with the gold variants. The silver and Toy Fair variants came before the Gold variants. The fact that the ones you bought still are pre-loaded with this perk is a strong enough case imo to prove they're real.
