I am officially confused... So

1. It's not the giants. It's the spyro's adventure?
   
2. They're not supposed to be for individually sell, and you have to spend $30 to just get one of the sidekicks?
   
3. & the promotion starts on the 16th of Jan?
   

YAY good news for Late starters like me. i get to get them for free instead of buying em off evil bay or amazon. nice to know what to expect this 16th. i guess ill have no competetion as most of the guys here in my area are all done with this promo.

Yup, they're the ones from SSA. As for whether or not they're supposed to sell them seperately, this could end up being something on a store by store basis. I'd assume if they have individual stickers on them, they can sell them for that price. It's best to ask in any store you go in.
And yeah, promo goes from 16th to the 31st.

btw does anyone know if they will honor purchase from the past 30 days end date of promo???? how bout return/buy back just in case they wont honor the purchase??? cause i just recently bought the SS and couple days ago the iOS starter pack....

Nope, if the computer says you can sell them that's not their fault. Generally things with an actual street date will come up with a "cannot sell before ____" or something similar. Nobody will be fired for selling them.

Conceivably, if they had been informed by their manager not to sell them, and did so anyway, it could still end up that way. That was not what happened in my case, though. They honestly knew nothing about any upcoming promotion, checked their computer, and also made several calls to try to see if anyone would tell them not to sell them. Other than the word of a random customer (me), they could find no indication that they might *not* be supposed to sell them today.

They honestly didn't look hard enough then. It was in the emails that were sent about the promotion. They email specifically stated that the figures were supposed to be held until the 16th. I'll have to find out just how many of these puppies my store is getting in.

They have inventory counts. Category and Perpetual.

Price stickers make it so that store is responsible for everything they received, and it gives corporate a value to charge that store in "shrink" when they have some come up missing unexplained, It's really.. REALLY old corporate business practice.......

Can confirm that these are the old ones aswell, bought two sets last night at $10 each. Also was told at another location that they got told in a Conference call to not sell them, and that they would honor return/rebuy of Skylanders from 30 days prior of promo

I was at Game Stop today and yet they did not have them in but he pulled it up on the computer and it had all 4 of their names.

Some GameStops are selling them and some are holding them for the promotion. I called 11 stores in my area and lucky me the one only 15 minutes away sold them to me outright. I wouldn't be geting them otherwise, cause I have all the released figures already, and I am not going to buy them at gamestop just to return them to walmart.

already got my return/buy plan for the sidekicks promo all ready. they just dont want to do the transactions for now as they were told to be released on the 16th. im late starter so to me this is freebies for buying some s1 figures and starters.

I got trigger snappy and gill runt through frito, and went today with my reciept from the scorpion striker and 2 figures that I bought this weekend for a bday present to my sons friend and we got 1 free for the purchases from last week and bought the other for 10$ with no problems. The manager was actually holding them for me because I told him about the sidekick deal last week and he hadn't heard about it so he pulled himself a set and a set for me incase I needed them all. So, it looks like you can get your previous purhases to count, but it might be up to the manager ateach store, because my reciept actually shows it as a return and repurchase of everything for the free one to count.

at least you have good managers in your gamestop. mines said as long as the product still unopen and you have your receipt you can do return/buy for the side kicks as long it covers the date. good to you got em and gz to you for completing!.

A little follow up on my comments from Friday, earlier in the thread.

I just got back from a lunch hour run by a nearby GS. The same one I got the SS pack and the sidekicks from last Friday. (Thumpback and Eye Brawl. Yeah!)

I spoke with one of the same employees who sold me the sidekicks on Friday. He said a couple of interesting things.

1) They got the email from corporate a couple of hours after they had sold the sidekicks to me. The email that has been talked about in other threads that lays out the details of the upcoming promotion, and says not to sell the sidekicks individually yet. So I got really lucky to be there in the small window in which they had the figures, but had not yet received the notice not to sell them.

2) The other "employee" in the store last Friday, the one who made several phone calls to try to get information on whether or not the sidekicks could be sold individually, before eventually declaring that, since the computer did not mention a date limit, they were fine to sell... That was not just any employee, but a District Manager. So the regular store employee was not in the slightest bit of trouble over selling them to me, since his DM had actually been the one to make the decision. In hindsight, an incorrect decision, but still...

I went today to pick up the Scorpion Striker (I missed the preorder), and asked about the "buy $30 get a sidekick" promo, willing to purhase anything else to put me over $30. When he rang up the sidekick while the purchase was still under $30, he said that the sidekick rang up at $1,000! When he scanned a second Scorpion Striker, to put me over $30, it did the same thing!! Apparently GS has made a change to their system to prevent these from being sold individually, and to enure that the promo starts on 1/16/13. Either that, or the guy at my local store is an idiot.

My gamestop told me about the 1000 dollar price tag as well...

I hope that's not the case at my GS. I called them yesterday and they told me they should be in today and they would hold 4 for me. I called today to make sure and they have them held. I'll be bummed if I drive there after work to find out that I can't get them today.

Oh, well, if THAT is the only problem. Money is no object! HAR HAR HAR.

I guess I'll go in anyway, because I'll have to make sure they are willing to hold them until tomorrow when I get off work.

Sometimes I really hate living in the Pacific Northwest where store shipments always seem to arrive dead last. If my GS had gotten theirs a day or two earlier like the rest of the country, I wouldn't have had this concern.

The price was changed this morning to stop stores from selling them for $10. Sucks for me because GameStop had lousy stock and we already have everything they are selling...

Crazy thought for someone with too much money.

Buy one for $999 and get 33 Sidekicks free (one with every $30 purchased...).

Then resell them all on eBay.

You wouldn't even break even doing that.

No... and it'd make more sense to buy $1000 worth of regular Skylanders stuff. But it'd be fun to be likely the only person to buy a Sidekick at the $999 price.
