No. When it comes out there will be several threads saying it's out. There is no need for a new thread asking the same question every 6 hours. Your best bet is to keep checking the forums until more info is released.

I can't say they will come today, but I can at least say it's worth a try I mean they are clearly going to be out very soon, but whether today or not I'm not truly sure. I'm just gonna say at least try and who knows you could get lucky.

Heading to several Gamestops this morning, will post with any good/bad news

I went to my local GS at 10am. Thy employee told me the only shipment coming in today was for the Scorpion Battle pack and nothing else. Maybe others will be lucky at their local GS. I am going to check one other one that's close by.

I think both Thumpback and Eye-Brawl are out - I just bought them in WalMart.

Hot Dog's release date "changing" was all Gamestop's doing. Talking with my local manager today when picking him up, I know they'd had him in stock since January 4th, but as usual had to pretend he didn't exist until given the go-ahead by upper management to put him out.


The only question now is that, once that Wal*Mart (likely) gets fined for releasing content before the store-given release date for Thumpback and Eye Brawl, will OTHER stores be allowed to sell them without penalty?

Until the "all-clear" is announced, don't be too surprised if other stores still need to pretend they don't have the characters yet and they come up as "zero in stock" when they search their inventories.

Even if these don't have a "street date" TRU or Gamestop may have had a few day exclusive on these. Which in the contract that Wal-mart and Acti signed I am sure is some wording what happens if they sold early. Which Wal-Mart is notorious for.

I work at Gamestop. Assistant Manager. We JUST got the scorpion Striker pack in THIS morning. No exaggeration there, and it was the same for SOOO many Gamestops around here. SOME of them have had it in since the 8th.... at THE EARLIEST. I work there, I sign the shipments, I look at the inventory shipping and receiving ALL DAY... and you have NO IDEA what you're talking about, at the VERY LEAST that manager filled you full of ****.

And to clarify: NO retailer gets "fined" for releasing early. They get sued, if they don't settle with the publisher first. Hot Dog's release date, FROM ACTIVISION TO GAMESTOP was January 1st. Gamestop (stupidly) took that date and ran with it. Activision sent a statement to us saying "Well we may not be able to have as many to you as you need by that date" and so we pushed it back to 1/9/13. THEN there was issues making sure EVERY store had the SS battle pack on the same day. So it was pushed from 1/9 to 1/10 and ultimately 1/11 ( thank UPS for the 1/11 date).

I'm not defending Gamestop... they make BS claims all the time... BUT... it just gets old watching people talk out of their ass based on what some random GS employee told them. I try to give people the most legit info I can on here, because I know what it's like to hunt for these things... but I don't expect you guys to take what I'm saying to the bank.

At the end of the day: Activision is jerking us around, NOT any of the retailers. I don't blame ANY Wal-mart, not one little bit, for putting anything out for sale.

Basically: ANY GS employee that told you they have had it since the 4th is FULL OF IT. Period. We "should" have gotten it in around the 4th, but that just didn't happen, thank ACT/BLIZZ for it, in my opinion they constantly create false supply problems, to keep demand exorbitantly high. Guess what? It works, time and again, why bother stopping?

Either that, or maybe the "we have this exclusively for the month of January" materials shipped ahead of the content? If he saw that display box back on the 4th, he may have assumed it contained the actual figures. It's pretty clear a simultanious store release was required for this - probably so Gamestop could track the sales numbers and see if it was worth their investment, so they wouldn't overstock and have another Golden Dragonfire Cannon on their hands.

As for fining VS suing, that's semantics. In many cases, the penalty for early release is known in advance, and the stores do it anyway. I believe Final Fantasy IX, back all those years ago, had a $50K penalty for breaking the street date. It was done in the morning, and by that afternoon everyone else was selling it without fear of retribution, but during those few awkward hours the stores had to claim they didn't have it. (Which makes sense - if it was a fine, they could charge EVERY store for it. It is was a lawsuit, they couldn't really sue EVERY store once they all followed the actions of the first.)


Regardless, the point is whether some stores had Hot Dog on the 4th, the 8th or the 10th, until the store chain gives the "all clear" to sell the item, it doesn't exist. Thumpback and Eye Brawl most likely fall into that category right now. And much as you dislike people blaming Gamestop without evidence, I have issues with people who will post later today saying, "Activision promised that Thumpback would be in all the stores today and I can't find him anywhere! I'm so angry at them!"


Either way, I hope this doesn't make Ninjini the Wham-Shell of this set in terms of rarity.

If you guys go to eBay, it appears several eye brawls and thumpbacks made the shelves but all appear to be on west coast of US. Strange that just one region would have them.

I don't think it is strange. The SSA wave that included Lightning Rod didn't show up in GA until several weeks after it had released in other places. It was irritating to read about people in other states being able to easily pick up those figures, but not being able to find them in ANY store in the metro Atlanta area. Also, from reading other posts, other states on the east coast had similar issues.
