- If you get what you paid for them, then effectively the Sidekicks cost you nothing.

- If you lose a bit of money then each sidekick has cost you the difference divided by 4. So let's say you paid $120 and got all 4 and then you sell all the Giants stuff you had to buy for $80 on Ebay. You've then lost $40 but got 4 Sidekicks so $40/4 sidekicks means each sidekick has cost you $10.

Seems fair to me providing you've got the $120 to spend in the first place.

hehe just spoke to employee so happy to hear that the sidekick promo is applicable for both SSA and GIANT. huraaaa. now i get to my sidekicks(either old or new ones) for free YAY! no evil bay for this little buggers.

Sadly not worth it for me.
Have most of the skylanders that aren't legendary already and really don't want to spent $120 on 4 things that just follow you and nothing more.

I wont be spending $120 on them but I will at least try to get one...

Cool. Maybe we can figure out just what's going on. It could be they're getting BOTH, but the old ones are for right now, and the new ones are for this promo. If so, that's very confusing!

You do know logically it would make more sense for them to be SSA Sidekicks then Giants as we only have Tree Rex out of the 4? Just saying it would be funny to have the Sidekick of a character before the Giant.

Well...that was a pain, but yeah I agree. Although I was able to get all the ones I asked for. I wrote the specific names on the notes part of the checks I sent them. Unless I'm mistaken, I think there's some sort of law that makes it so if you cash a check that states in it's notes what it's for, the seller is obligated to honor that, or they could get in trouble, possibly sued. Don't quote me on that though, I could be wrong. Still, they honored them.

lol if its frito lay promo my house will be flooded with chips. anyways theres 5 of us to eat the bag of chips and time isnt a problem. the gamestop promo is really good for late starters like me getting the old sidekicks just for completing my series 1 collection. cant wait till the 16th! happy hunting all!!!

I guess they realized that they don't have enough value to really charge for them (IS that really all they do?) What you are getting for that $30/$120 is $30/$120 worth of merchandise. To me, this sounds like a triple pack for $20 and a single for $10 to get one Sidekick. You'd still have those 4 actual characters, the three-pack and the single, the same 4 characters you would have gotten for the same $30 a week ago.

And this is from someone who never heard of these Sidekicks until now, until reading this forum thread. Never saw any Frito Lay promotion and we don't have Gamestop here (luckily we do have EBGames, hope that person who says they're affiliated is right. It's unfortunate that so far their Skylander selection has sucked, since I got SSA back in April)

What I meant is all I really need now are the 5 Legendary Skylanders (the 3 pack, stealth, and bouncer) which is only in TRU.
And then of course Ninjini, Thumpback, and Eyebrawl.
That case if I get 2 of those giants in Gamestop maybe, this set up is really bad for those that have most of the skylanders already. (I don't have much Series 2 and no lightcores as I'm not buying over something I just bought last year all over agian).
I say they should sell those sidekicks. I would buy one for $10 or $15 each no problem.

Yeah, got me a Gill Runt along with the Golden Dragonfire Cannon and Gill Grunt. Might exchange Gill Grunt for Fright Rider though.

One of the GS in my area seems to think they're getting Giants sidekicks. I'm calling tomorrow to find out, since he wasn't allowed to check today.

I'd call that guy an outright liar due to the fact that all other GameStops have long since had the memo stating that today (1/16) was the day the company-wide Sidekicks promotion began. Even if they didn't have the memo, it's not like they couldn't have looked up which characters they were getting in the system. My local GameStop actually found the names of all four sidekicks in the stock/sku details before anyone on here showed up with pics, etc. Your guy should be able and willing to do the same--the stock database is the same for all GameStop locations, even if they don't have a particular item on-hand.

A heads-up on my experience this evening:

Went into my local GameStop, and asked the guy at the register if they had any Sidekicks. He wasn't sure what I was talking about at first, then opened the drawer behind the counter (where they keep reserves and promo stuff, apparently) and said they had some, but he wasn't sure what they were at first. From the quick glance I got, it looked like he had about three or four sets of the four of them (yes, the originals, Terrabite, Gill Runt, etc.).

Here's where it gets interesting: each one has a price tag on them which reads $9.99, so he was about to just ring them up for me - but the first one he scanned came up as $999.99 instead. A quick call to his manager and he quickly confirmed that yes, the only way to get them was to spend $29.99 per Sidekick. Apparently, there were a few GameStops out on the west coast that got them early - in advance of the promotion details going public - and weren't sure what to do with them, so started selling them at that price (same as the other figures), and got into serious trouble with Activision over it.

Hope this clears up any confusion anyone has.

Yeah called again, and he was wrong. Yesterday he saw this opaque bag of them and couldn't see what they were. He told me his manager wouldn't allow him to open them and check till today. So he assumed they were the new ones. I mentioned the names and he just didn't know them. Figured he was likely wrong, but just in case I thought I'd check again. I doubt he seriously even checked the database, though some of the stores don't get info till later than others. Don't ask me why, but it seems that way.

Seems more reasonable to do it that way than for every $30 you spend. Why didn't they just do it that way?

it is the old ones. I got one of them today when I bought thumpback and eye brawl. Then I told the GS employee that I have all four already. She said, how do you have all 4 already? I told her there was frito-lay promotion last year. She was a nice employee, but had no clue. My GS only got in 2 of each Giants and said they were not expecting anymore.

The SKUs are the same for all the Skylanders they get so they won't even know what they get till it comes in. Oh Acti, why you hate us so?

I got a Terrabite yesterday, and the employee honored my purchase receipt from five days before (I got a Scorpion Striker and Stump Smash) ,
