In my history of going to stores for Skylanders, I've found one Gold Chop Chop. I'm not mad, though. I understand they're rare. I usually got the money that buying these on ebay doesn't mean breaking a sweat. I'm just being smarter with these variants and waiting for them to drop a bit.

Towards the end of this month, I will be going back on the hunt. But, yeah, some people have it a bit easier overseas.
