So I'll start off by saying I've confirmed this with several different sources, I haven't seen this posted any where else, I debated on whether to post because the ad isn't available yet. but GS is expecting them to not last long

Starting 1/16 Gamestop will have Gaints Sidekicks, they will not be for sale individually, but they will be Free when you purchase $30 worth of skylanders mech. So to get all 4 you will have to spend $120. Now 1/16 is also the rumored ship date for the W3 Giants. Stores should be receiving them soon, but can't let them go till 1/16, unlike other GS promos I've been told these will be inventoried, I'll have more info for you later.

Interesting....I thought Frito Lay was doing the Sidekicks promo again?

Hmm..that sounds...well.. even worse than the Frito-Lay promotion. I don't know what to think yet until we see more info if this is legit. I can't see why they wouldn't partner with Frito-Lay again though- that promo had to have worked out well for both companies.

The info is being sent to GS stores now, most of them should be able to pull it up in there system

The only advantage to this is that you can make sure you don't get doubles. I have an Mobile starter pack I just bought with royal double trouble, so I plan to return/rebuy it and possibly the Wii U starter if I have to. It depends on if they are in fact inventoried.

Heh, if that is accurate, it is bad news. Gamestop woefully under-orders promotional items. I've had several "free with pre-order" items not received because they said they ran out. As I understand, some stores have employees that grab them when they come in, especially if they are cool or might have re-sell value. I hope they at least are packaged and have a UPC and are stock tracked, or else some stores won't "receive them at all" (ie, the employees grab them all and head for Ebay). I know there are many good Gamestops and employees out there, but this is far from uncommon.

Agree with pally. Tho there's also the employees who will hand you promo stuff just cause you're a good regular.

I heard this same info about the sidekicks....but I wasn't given an exact date, rather led to believe it would be Friday, when the battle pack is "supposed" to arrive.

honestly thats what I'm hoping for.

I hope if it is Friday that there's a new giant that day too. Otherwise I'm not spending the 30 at once. I guess I could get an s2 but I'd rather save my gift card for eye brawl or thumpy.

If this is the case I'll not be getting them all. I mainly just want the tiny Thumpback and Tree Rex. The other two are meh...

Hmmm... that's a lot of money to spend this far into the game's cycle. There DEFINITELY aren't $120 worth of Skylanders left on my list of wants for Giants. It does make sense if this is simply a strategy to fill in the missing figures of those who miss some through Frito-Lay. I'd really hate to see the GS promotion be the only way to get them though. Please tell me that's not possible. Right?

Yea same here with s2. I have a couple but plenty to fill this as long as it lasts a while. Not gonna drop the cash that quick since my plan is to buy here and there til 3. But if this goes for a while ill get 3 s2 at a time

I'm not believing this until we get some sort of photographic evidence as we've all been misled by employee misinformation and lies in the past.

Has anyone confirmed this with their local Gamestop? This is HUGE news! How did this info come to light?

I'm not taking this to seriously...though the poster did say it should be in Gamestop's system this afternoon. Someone call to confirm it? I just checked my local Gamestop, and luckily they have Battlegrounds in at two locations. I think I'll grab that for a couple extra Royal Double Trouble, two of those is almost 4 Giant Sidekicks....then just sell em or trade em! I'm not liking the idea of dropping $120 to get a complete set (or more if I wanted a set for my kids too) but if played smartly, the Sidekicks would be a minimal cost. I recall spending over $30 on chips, and stamps and money orders more then that.

The local Gamestops that I have gone to don't even have that much Skylander Giants merchandise, since the stores are so small. Definitely, have to buy starter packs.

Called my local Gamestop, and he said "I was just in the system 10 minutes ago and didn't see anything but let me check"

I hear him typing away, first he says he can't find anything then it was "Oh, it is in here....Jan.16-31 while supplies last." I asked then if I spent $120 would I get all 4, or is it random? He claims that as long as supplies last, you could get the entire set. This is quite awesome! I'd HIGHLY recommend being there when the store opens though on Jan.16....they won't last long even though everyone is broke from Christmas around here and stores seem to be entirely sold out of anything Skylanders.

Why not the Chip bags? This sucks for the UK, since a complete set will probably get over $200, and individual characters will sell for $50.

Only 15 days? Ridiculous. There's gotta be another promotion coming. Or hopefully they give the stores so many that they have extra when it's over and my local one will toss em to me for free as they often do.

spyroflame0487, I don't think buying it at one location and taking it back to another will work. Don't the stores put it on the receipt, even if its free? I know Futureshop here in Canada, puts steelbooks on the receipt as like $0.01 and it states you have to return the bonus item with the refund. Otherwise, everyone would buy stuff and get the free bonuses...then return things. Might be worth a try though! IF they had some new Wave, it would make it a lot easier to reach $30 obviously.

It's a good thing I am friends with the manager at my GameStop. He will be in tomorrow. I'll give him a call then. I pray he can hook me up. He put aside a Hot Head for me a while back and is doing the same with Thumpback and Eye-Brawl, so fingers crossed.

Lame this late in the game to expect us to buy so much more, especially when we can't pre-order wave 4 from GameStop.

Think this causes the store employees to 'hold onto' and 'scalp' esp if only needing 1 more?

This is where Walmart's Return Policy comes in handy as they'll take anything back for store credit.

To me the best option is to buy a $120 gift card, grab all four sidekicks, and spend the gift card as needed on skylanders

Based on the info in this thread, you need to spend $30 on actual Skylanders merchandise, so your option wouldn't work.

IMMA BUY $300 BUCKS O' SKYLANDERS, TAKE HOME 2 SETS OF DA SIDEKICKS and then return the merch I don't need.

On the receipts, it will show promo items you got. They will see that and ask for the promo items back or no refund.

All one needs to spend, is 119.96 according to their memo. I am already planning out what I will buy and give to others, so I can get the two sets I need.

Firstly...I think you could probably take some of it back to other stores that have a credit type system (without receipt). I know that the actual starter kit at Wal-mart can't be returned, because it exceeds $50. I was doing what Gamemaster78 is doing, planning out what to buy to get at least two sets. It's a huge PI**OFF that the starter kits are $74.99 each, when thats on the high side for stores lately. I've already got the pS3, 360, 3DS, and WiiU versions anyway. I think I may just buy literally any figures they've got, and give them as gifts or finish my two kids collections of reposes. The Battlegrounds is an excellent idea, it's almost two ($49.99) sidekicks on its own plus you'd get Royal Double Trouble!! Not many locations still have that though...I'm hoping they have these figures on store opening on the 16th and would stand outside waiting. If they don't, then its a matter of staking out the store until the delivery gets there...which is literally whenever Mr FedEX arrives.

This promotion blows ass!....I have already bought all the figures released already!.....how am I gonna buy another $120 worth of skylanders stuff to get all 4 sidekicks in 15 days!!....this is stoopid!

I personally like this better than the chips thing....and ultimately buying $120 worth of stuff and getting a set free beats paying $120 for the Sidekicks alone (like many people had to do when the offer expired).

FOR SURE! If Wave 4 of any sort were released, this would be MUCH easier! Buy two giants, get a sidekick!

There's more to this. Friend of mine read the memo to me, and it only includes games and figures. It doesn't include accessories at all.

EDIT: I already planned out what I am getting -

- PS3 Starter Pack for Giants (gave one to a friend of mine's son, since they couldn't afford Christmas)
- Battlegrounds Starter (my kids don't have a Royal DT yet. Thank God I held off buying one)
- Fright Rider (youngest daughter can play with that one)
- Extra GDFC Battle Pack (kids don't have the canon)
- Extra SS Battle Pack (youngest daughter can play with the Hot Dog and Zap)
- SSA Starter Pack for 3DS (unsure what I will do with it, but it's another reason to own a sealed Dark Spyro, which is still exclusive to this pack in the US).

That totals 245 before tax, but you only have to spend 119.96 before tax to get a complete set, according to the memo.

Sounds like the Walmart return is the best idea. Buy it at gamestop and return for Walmart store credit. You can then buy gas and groceries or other necessities as needed at walmart.

I agree with spoons this blows, no way am i getting any of these. These are not worth 30 dollars a piece. Anyone know how to contact activision to complain, or see if they are gonna have other ways to get them. Hell i would pay 10 a piece for these in stores, but this is just stupid.

I doubt they will release wave 4 with this. This just seems like a way for them to move stock before the new wave. It says its valid for 15 days from the 16th, meaning 1/31, which is when we expected the new battle pack exclusivity to end and when wave 4 would come out.

You're not paying $30 a piece, you're buying $30 worth of skylanders and getting it free.

Makes you wonder how they intend to release the final 4 ingame variants.

What will **** me off about that, is if any of them turn out to be convention exclusives. It will make me go from 3 of every character per game, to 1 per character in each game, while totally bypassing any future Series 1,000,000 figures, just out of spite.
