Okay I've been hearing this name for a while now.
What exactly does this striker thing do? Does it "only" unlock a battle arena? Or does it do something else?

It comes with a zap and hot dog, and it can help you fight in game

Okay, well I do need Hot Dog.
Never liked Zap so I'm 99% sure I won't like series 2 but...

How does it help you fight?

It launches projectiles at enemies.

was just at my local gamestop, they told me its still due on the 9th but they can put it out whenever they get it in.

My gs said the 9th still too.

Mine said Tuesday, which happens to be the 8th.

Eh, we will all (those that pre-ordered, and then some - I imagine they will have tons of stock for an exclusive) have Hot Dog by next weekend. Maybe as early as Tuesday, maybe as late as Friday. No fuss, no mess, no getting up at 4am and freezing your butt off at TRU. Although that is kinda fun at times.

That Scorpion Striker looks awfully flat and cardboard to me, but yeah dude, put that on your portal.

I have a feeling this one will be a little harder to come by then what the first battle pack was. No one else is going to have any kind of this battle pack until 2/1. Generally the people who bought the first battle pack from Gamestop were collectors. Take a look at Granite Crusher, I know Target is more than just a gaming store, they have become pretty hard to find.

Everyone who knows that Hot Dog is coming out this week is going to have to go to gamestop and wait.

I think they will have plenty. My thing as far as what day is because of the possible giant/s being released at the same time. If thump or eye is out the same day, that's gonna be the hard thing to get. I plan on bein at my gs when they open the day they're supposed to have the pack just incase.

They may come out with the release of the battle pack, however I think a more likely scenario would be when GS exclusive runs out on 2/1 that we may see them at that time.

Gamestop is paying for this exclusive. You don't pay big money for a month long exclusive unless you get a reasonable level of certainty that the company will be able to get you enough to sell during that month. It does them no good to simply go, "yeah, we are the only place to get it - you want it, sorry don't have it".

Granite Crusher wasn't hard to find, neither were the Legendaries or the Walmart GITD starter or Sonic Booms. I can still find red drill seargent at Walmart and saw a blue bash a couple months back at TRU. Dragon's Peak was a TRU exclusive for a month and they had a whole cage full of them when it came out.

Down the road it may become more scarce, but don't bet on it. The main problem is that there is one figure in it that most people want. Same with Dragonfire Cannon. People wanted Shroomboom, but not enough to pay $25 for him. I know a lot of people that waited until the lightcore came out before they bought him. They couldn't even justify the sale prices for two figures they didn't want.

That was the most logical and realistic observation ever defpally. Kudos to you for that amazing deduction and very well thought out observation.

They're friends doh, not rivals.
Also, they were misinformed and there parents told them they got it. So they texted me "we got the Scorpion packs".
But then their parents came home and told them they only preordered.

*sigh*....

Welp, there goes some of mah hoeps.

I just saw that the Scorpion Striker is not available on the GameStop site any more. So I wonder what the supply is going to be like in the stores. I am glad I preordered mine.

I pre-ordered from Gamestop.com but was at one of the local gamestops looking for an old PS2 game earlier today, so I asked him about the Scorpion Striker... he said they stopped taking pre-orders at the store, but he has gotten no information about when it will actually be available or released!! My pre-order online still says expected shipping on the 9th, so at least it's only a couple days away!!

I called my local GameStop this morning to ask whether the Scorpion Striker was coming out on the 9th or the 11th and he said he was going to find out about it today @ 3:30. I guess there was going to be a meeting. Going to call back in a little bit and ask again.

Tell us what you find out, Prime.

EDIT: Actually, the page is still there. They stopped taking preorders, and uploaded a store tracker for it. It must be coming soon-ish, as you are able to see if your nearby stores have them.

EDIT 2: AND they changed the date on the website to the 10th.

this could be related to the following below:

1. Another release date delay
2. The webmaster is updating the online stock/check store availibility tool
3. Too many preorders and no stock to meet the demand

I am hoping its number 2!

Gamespot/EBgames Canada website is bad, it only shows a limited amount of figures displayed online but when you visit in store they have well over double the amount then listed online. I can only assume the Scorpion Stricker battle pack is released in Canada on the 9th or 11th here in Canada as well, but by the way the GS/EBG employees are acting they have no clue about it and nothing is in the computer systems regarding the battle pack or new giants

I am starting to think this battle pack is maybe an exclusive for GAMESTOP US for Jan 2013 similar to that of the sidekicks. Can anyone confirm this? I know it sounds silly but all the signs are pointing towards that

We can always count on Skylanders having the messiest 30-day exclusive releases ever.

The battle packs were a lame idea. I'd rather just more adventure packs tbh. Yeah, people can moan about "it's on-disc DLC" but that's essentially what ALL Skylander figures are: on-disc DLC.

^ This. The game is already shorter than S:SA, why not release NEW levels, maybe include another exclusive figure?

TH reason I asked is because they get shipments during the day when they are open via UPS. He asked me if I had pre-ordered one and I told him that I did, but I was wondering if they would have any extras and he couldn't give me a yes to that question. I also asked if he knew of any new figures coming out at the same time as the Scorpion Striker and he didn't know. Sounds like they can barely handle the release of the Scorpion Striker.

That most likely means it is now shipping to stores and preparing online orders now and they have turned off pre-orders. It will probably be back up for sale on the 9th. At Gamestop they do not let you pre-order after it has come out or started shipping, and they can't let you buy it straight up because of the Street Date.

Sadly, due to the way the Wii store works they can't really do this - and Wii is the primary platform. As it is, content had to be finished at the time of release and they cannot do it as DLC/patching. This is another thing I would like to see in part 3 - ditch the Wii (or consider it a branch platform), and they could add new levels (even if you had to buy a figure to unlock it) and patch bugs. That way they they could keep adding content that they don't have time to finish before the game comes out and not have to hold back stuff for Spring to keep interest up. This is all possible on WiiU, Xbox and the PS3 - it's the Wii that is holding it back now.

They won't call you until it is physically in the store due to possible shipping problems. I would imagine if it is going to be available for opening on the 9th they will come in tomorrow.
