Skylanders 3 should give all Series 1 and 2 the Wow Pows and stat boosts. Even the lightcores.
And anything new they make are brand new characters and that's it. If you want to bring back old ones, you can always do the legendaries or something but nothing else. |

we got 8 new giants 8 new newlanders , total that is 16... ssa had 32 total... so next skylander game is gonna have the rest of the 8 giants and the rest of the 8 newlanders... then the rest will be s2 of the older skylanders we dont have s2 of today, then they gonna pick 3 new legendaries from the old skylanders and two new one a giant and a newlander...
that is the most logical way of doing it... because the new skylanders3 will be here in oct/nov 2013... s3 will not happen before skylanders4... |

As I understand it, although S2 was a little bit of a cash grab, that aspect of it was also partly incidental. The main intention was to better future-proof the figures for sequels down the line. Time will tell if this is true, but as more games are released, I actually expect the current S2 figures to continue to expand with them, at least as far as they foresaw they might need to in 2012. I don't think Series 3 will contain many re-poses aside from the remaining eight.
I mean, it's not like Activision doesn't understand the fervor for new characters; if they had it their way, TFB would crank out nothing but new toys, I can assure you. Their knowledge of the profit margin of new figure over old re-pose is evident simply in how they've marketed and filled each wave so far; the Newlanders and Giants are always the focal point. However, the first line of toys for S:SA simply wasn't created with future sequels in mind outside of Heroics and levels, which are both about as simple as coding gets--so simple that they may even be incidental. In fact, I imagine it would be more difficult to hard-cap character levels at 10 than just to code levels in base 16/hex or something similar and leave the level cap to the software, meaning the fact that S1 characters can continue to gain levels at all may have just been a happy accident. We'll see. I would tentatively say to expect the bulk of Skylanders 3 to be new figures, though, buffeted by the re-poses we didn't get this time. |

Oh my gosh, yes, enough with the reposes activision. I want some NEW CHARACTERS, some of the wow pows are fun, but I would rather have 24 brand new characters instead of 24 reposes.

S3 is going to happen as Giants had 24 reposes, 8 being left over, they announced Boomer coming back, which if that means that all leftover S1 are coming back, then that's 8,
If they repose all new existing characters, the 8 Giants and 8 new Skylanders. That makes 24 again. They had a plan with the S2 and weren't just being lazy about the non-reposed Skylanders. |

^ That makes perfect sense, Giants 24 S2. Skylanders 3, 8 S2 Giants, 8 S2 Newlanders, 8 Series 2 reposed. That's 24 again. They won't be able to continue the pattern in the 4th game though unless 8 more characters come out for giants between now and October that they can leave out of S2 for the next game.

Series 3 will definitely happen but, thanks the selection of characters they have for the next game, it'll probably be only a select few (possibly, the ones that sold the best).

I have a cool idea for Skylanders 3 - a racing game. It can be a combination of LittleBigPlanet Karting and Sonic All Stars racing. The characters that didn't make it to S2 (Camo, Wham Shell, Boomer etc.) will get a re-posed model, but in a go kart - same for all the new Skylanders for Karting & S2 re-poses of Giants. The new Skylanders toy models will be Skylanders in Go Karts with awesome poses and such. Heroic challenges could be little challenges which require the Skylander to move certain objects in certain areas. Or Kaos' mother could try to take over Skylands. Either way, I'll still hope next month when Toy Fair '13 comes along.

If they do ANYTHING with Skylanders, they should make spinoffs but keep making Skylanders games once a year.
Here are some ideas - Skylanders: Skystones. It can be a physically played game. Starter Packs come with a 3x3 grid and a couple of Skystones. Boosters can contain around 5 Skystones, since they would cost more than cards to make. HOWEVER, there is a kick to this. It can also be played on game systems, using the 3x3 grid. The grid reads the Skystones and spots they are laid on. This could be an online only game, or local MP. Skylanders: Villains. The third game in the series. Kaos' Mom summons a being to Skylands, who ends up turning on all of them, thus banishing them to Earth. This allows some figures to come out, like Kaos, Glumshanks, Kaos' Mom, and other bad guys, but especially one of each element contains a Spell Punk Villain (God I want Spell Punk Skylanders so bad). Then they can do spinoffs that continue to use your characters, like perhaps a kart racing game or even a full fledged RPG (could even be open world). The skies the limit. However, I will stick by my guns and say that if they keep pushing Series 2, 3, 4, 5, 10,000,000, they're going to shoot themselves in the foot, because people are going to feel ripped off, and when people show off collections, they don't want to show off 50 versions of Hex, Spyro, etc. I say finish off Series 2 with the 8 unreleased Skylanders from the first game, and leave it at that. Starting with the third game, make it so Skylanders can change paths like they can in Giants, and that includes figures released in Giants. ALL Skylanders should get new moves in each game, WITHOUT having to buy new characters. This goes a long way, because TFB would be showing customers that they are putting heavy thought into the game, while trying to save people at least some money. I say with game 3, they focus on giving us 40 characters. 16 Villains, 16 Newlanders, LEAVE GIANTS AT 8 (Only 8 Giants defeated the Arkeyans and the Fist of Arkus so it wouldn't make sense to say other Giants were hiding like chumps), and 8 Series 2 figures (Voodood, Dino-Rang, Wham-Shell, Sunburn, Boomer, Ghost Roaster, Warnado and Camo). Better still, this is what they could do with the third game, based on my ideas. 2 NEW Battle Packs. Each Battle Pack includes a Magical Item that unlocks a Battle Arena and can be used as a weapon in Single Player. Each Battle Pack includes a Skylander and a Villain, to go with the theme of "BATTLE PACKS." 2 NEW Adventure Packs. New Adventure Packs feature a Skylander, Location Item, and 2 Magical Items (so the third game could have a total of 6 new Magical Items to play with). Then the rest could be released in assortments. Just my ideas at least. They're going to kill this franchise if they keep it up TOO MUCH with this whole "Series" stuff. I say that, because even toysrus.com has almost all Series 2 in stock at the moment. They're not selling as well as the Newlanders, and I bet Lightcore isn't as well. I want to see this franchise go places, and not end up like the other Activision franchises, which ended in death.

Agreed Bakonbitz. These games feel like a great traditional 3d platforming game minus the jumping that we haven't had in years and I'd hate for it to become another cliche unoriginal game like the redundant stuff we get nowadays. But really, they should include jumping in the next game at least. Now gamemaster I see what you mean as in s2 wise since most people really don't want to buy the same guy twice however, don't worry so much on the newlanders they probably aren't selling because most people already have them. Besides I haven't seen Pop Fizz or Fright Rider really in stores just Flashwing and Sprocket along with a whole bunch of s2 figures.

Thinking outside the box is definitely what is needed alright. The potential here is really tremendous as you pointed out and there are so many directions that can be taken with the Skylanders "toys inside of games" concept that should all be explored. If they do a racing game the "carts" should be empty and have a cockpit that will hold a skylander. That way you can have different cars with different abilities driven by your skylander of choice. An open RPG would also be very rocking.

It does already have some RPG elements with upgrades and leveling up. That would be an interesting concept to explore skyp1e. I'd still suggest leaving racing out of it, the only thing remotely good with that idea is we get the closest step to articulated skylander figures, but even then it's not all that. All that will do is increase their already pricey tag and make them more annoying to collect.

As an electronics engineer, I'm highly skeptical of the idea that S2 figures are somehow more future proof than S1 figures. There's nothing really complicated to them. They store data and transmit it wirelessly. That's it. It's up to the game software to decide what to do with that data. The only way any figure could not be future proof is if they just didn't include enough storage space in the figure to add any more data, which really isn't a good design. Or if they designed the figures to send a specific set of data rather than what data the portal requests, which would be downright poor design.
Obviously, the S1 figures did have additional data storage space available. That's why the new heroic challenges, higher levels, personal quests, etc. can be stored to them. Adding a Wow Pow to an S1 figure requires only one extra bit. There is no way an even barely competent engineer couldn't scrounge up one bit. And as for path switching, there is absolutely no way that's a limitation of the figure hardware. It's just a matter of overwriting the old data that says a given figure is on one path and replacing it with a new set of data that says it's on the other path. At worst, if the S1 figures were truly designed poorly, you'd have to buy the upgrades again each time you switch paths. Bottom line, I fully believe S2 figures really do only exist as a way of getting people to buy figures they already have. I expect we'll see S2 figures for every character currently playable that doesn't have one. Well, possibly not the Giants if they decide to drop the concept going forward. I'd also expect to see S3 figures with new capabilities that S2 figures can't access. My personal guess would be that they'll get to access all abilities from both paths simultaneously. That would fit with the physical S2 figures featuring partial upgrades down both paths. I'm guessing S3 figures will appear fully upgraded down both paths. It's also the next logical step in terms of in-game functionality - only one path, then one path but able to freely swap, then both paths. I'm also guessing that S3 figures will be much fewer in number - perhaps only one per element per game beginning with Skylanders 3. My hope would be that the S3 figures are the ultimate version of any given character. Until they get to V2 (Version 2) figures with entirely new movesets... |

Make Skylander spinoffs. Maybe for the certian skylanders looking for their own journey or adventure?
Maybe an adventure for both Hex and Cynder as they both have their backstories kind of tied in, with Spyro tagging along for Cynder. Maybe another game where Stealth Elf finds out her origin and you can have other skylanders play in the game kind of like back up? But yeah I don't want Series 3 4 5 6 97 figures. IF they make a Series 3 I think I'll be done with the franchise. |

What I really want for skylanders 3 is online capability, the leftover 8 to come back, and for it to be an open world game, I hate that the dread yacht was so much smaller than the ruins, I liked the ruins more, plus you could use your allies as target practice, especially quiggley >

I don't think that Series 3 will ever happen though. I think that every single Skylander will get a Series 2 though. No Series 3 Spyro, but instead, Series 2 Jet-Vac, Pop Fizz, Warnado, Voodood, etc. Not all at once. I think there will only be one of each element from old Skylanders games without a Series 2.

I actually proposed this idea to Mike Stout (one of the developers of Skylanders) when a YouTube user named "Crashpro3" did a Ratchet and Clank marathon last year, I told him it would be a good idea to release single games for some of the Skylanders, like Hex could have her own game with a spin-off and release them on the PSN, Wii store, and XBox store. All he said was that he will pass onto the idea to Activision. |
