So, I was thinking. (And I will admit it, that is never a good thing) And thought of a weird idea. Adopt-A-Sparx! Green and up Sparxes each get assigned a user that has joined this week, and helps them out for about the time it takes to get a green Sparx level, then just let's them do thee own thing! I think it would be a welcoming way to get new users situated in the DarkSpyro environment.
So what do you think?

And a system would have to be created to minimize the possibilities of disarray.

And this could be located in a sticky topic, where the people can have discussions, along with them PMing their teachers.

Hmm. Well, it certainly is an interesting idea. But not everyone may be entirely helpful to the new users. And whether they are or not, the two users may not even get along for whatever reason, which could potentially hinder the whole process. So, yeah, some sort of organization or system would be needed to prevent those kind of problems.

Yeah. But I was possibly thinking that in the topic, users who are interested in teaching can leave an application, and the Sparxes PM who they would like to have, but users would have to edit posts to display them as taken, to avoid confusion.

Maybe, just maybe Dark could implement an icon, like the Sparx gem meter to show if you are a teacher? But that is probably way too hard. Or maybe, teachers can put that they ate a teacher in their signature. Or even have a different color name on the online listings.

I'm not sure Dark would implement such things just for this. But perhaps teachers could also say so on their guestbooks? Though that may be less noticeable...

I forgot to add that it is completely optional, like a tutorial, and they can stop whenever they like.

I think this is as neat idea if it was done well. A topic where people who've been here a while sign up to be LinkSparx and for newbies to sign up a choose people from the list to pm and ask questions. Not to teach them but to answer any questions and have a friend so that they arent patronised or given pointless information. When i first started i was so angry when i had people posting on my GuestBook welcome this is how you do this, oh look at me showing off... but me being me i just went along with it... *Siiiiiigh*

Keep in mind that younger uses that have never joined a forum before this join the site and are completely clueless, which normally leads to them getting hassled anyway because they may have double posted or something.
I know that I had trouble understanding rules and etc when I first joined.

That sounds nice, if only it was a voluntary program, and not something that a newbie has to undergo. It's good that you're trying to make a good first impression upon new users and helping the forums out, but at the same time, it should be entirely optional.
