...Fluorescent Purple.

My daughter and I were discussing this and we decided this is the logical progression for the color scheme.

Green is Blue + Yellow
Orange is Yellow + Red
Purple is Red + Blue

After that combining primary colors yields less desirable results such as Pink, Brown and Gray.

Although we went further and predicted that after Purple they'll possibly do Gray and Pink before moving down the primary spectrum.

Someone pointed out that they should go with color schemes matching the elements. Life was first, then Tech. Hopefully we'll get a blue base or something next, although some of the pics we've seen from models and stuff in TFB's office look like they're highlighter yellow in color.

nah they won't do pink and grey.

I agree that purple is the logical next step. then TFB will probably handle the primary colors.

I think you guys might be right. After Purple, they'll probably do primary colors. It's anyone's guess which one they'll start with but I imagine that a nice Crystal Blue will look neat glowing at the bottom of the figures.

Red will probably be last.

Maybe we have to look at patterns in elements. But from the few ways I could think of sorting elements, I can't see any way to predict the next base besides color schemes.

You're right, I just realized that all bases are semi-transparent. Facepalm.

Well possiby a blue base for water with the pattern I "found".

As was already figured out they are transparent now. And if you want to go through the hassle you can make all of the RFID chips visible on the ones you own now.

Each base has a thin white plastic cover on the inside of the base. There are a few tabs that hold the base plate onto the figure. If you carefully remove the base plate, and remove the white plastic, when you replace the base plate the chip is visible.

This is a subject I have been thinking about myself.
To me, it's all thinking about what colours can factories make plastic in these days that achieves the desired "flourescent" effect when lit up by the portal:
So far, TFB have chosen Lime Green and Orange because they are obvious "neon" colours when it comes to plastic. In a similar vein, they could get Magenta-Pink to work as well. Perhaps they could even try an Acid Yellow colour like the colour of a yellow highlighter pen, though that one might look too similar to the Lime Green when lit up.
I was thinking they could try a deep Indigo-Blue at some point, and perhaps the Cherry Red sharktank suggested as well.

I feel like the topic creator's right. Purple would make the most sense, in my opinion.

i feel that blue is next, basic neon colours as someone said, possibly blue and hopefully blue! and the base colour seems to match the Skylanders:_______ sequels (Giants is orange with orange base, could be a pattern?

It is almost certain, in my opinion, that blue or purple will come next, though most likely purple.

If you look at the color scheme using the primary colors of light (instead of paint) the first base a neon/yellow-ish green, which would be twice as much green as red or GGR. Yellow is made from an equal amount of red and green. Then, the orange base ends up being the opposite of that, RRG. Red and yellow, or red, red and green. The next base will probably have blue in it

So, I would speculate, that while purple is a logical choice, but doesn't tend to be a favorite of young boys (making up at least half of the game's "targeted" audience) teal will probably be the next base color. Which could either be BBG or BGG both making a shade of teal.

The next base culer wud be yellow ochre. Confirmed.

Did anyone stop to think that there may not be a pattern and it could all be about aesthetics? Or even cost? Maybe they got a good deal on fluorescent plastic?

The only problem with a blue base is that it wouldn't work for characters of the water element, but besides that it would look pretty cool. A purple base however would be more likely and would be as equally awesome as a blue base.

Agreed. In my head, blue seems a great colour for the bases of Skylanders.

Just read a comment on Youtube. Nearly certain its bogus but it(trys to) go and explain"Skylanders Cosmos, Solar and Chaos elements added etc." Now I am sure that is fake. New elements would be cool but...oh well.

On-topic- The green bases lit up better on the portal, in my opinion. I thought the orange ones just were a bit duller.

Same here ^ It looks like they light up... Which adds to the magic, But the orange ones don't light up as much

My guess would be blue or purple... they 2 current bases are already both secondary colors... so who knows!!

The colour of the bases they have used already are a the cheapest colours to use, these two, plus the yellow colour I described are used in a lot of Design Technology classes because of their cheapness, aswell as being the most vibrant of those colours. Purples and violets have to be quite gentle in comparison, and red and blue are too dark. It's really quite hard to explain and I guess I'm not doing a very good job of it...

I read the Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan. Very good books, and they deal with Egyptian mythology if you are into that.

You mean that neon green colour Lego uses alot?
Isn't that barely any less green than the colour they've already used for the current Lime Green bases that the SA figures have?
