let me start off with saying I love skylanders and glad I found this forum

with that said, I think giants is all kinds of messed up with it's roster and the choices for characters TFB has choose.
So in short this thread is just going to be a rant on what I like and what don't and would of done different.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* I like that there are 8 elements and did'nt try to add any more but added to them instead with 1 giant and 1 newlander ( kept things neat )

* I hated that they choose to do 4 new lightcore and 4 old lightcore
-they should have taken a full leap to lightcore with all 8 newlanders and left the 4 old ones without lightcore and just as a series 2

* I hate that they droped the 8 characters just to have 2 poses for one character ( lightcore or not 2 poses is not needed unless your jumping into a new series )

* I like the mini's Idea, BUT hated when I saw the next set - we have water, life, tech and earth... that leaves 4 elements to go why add another life and water, why not add the other elementes so you would have a mini for ever element you play with.

*I like (playable) variant's but Hated the way they did them, we have had are time with series one and they have enough characters move on to the newlanders for variants,
- they should of made 1 variant per newlander as they don't have a series 2 ( this does not include gaints or legendary ) and kept them to single packs ( NOT CONSOLE/STARTER BUNDLES - like punch pop fizz and royal double trouble )
- instead they should of made a different tree rex for every console making him the only difference between games ( there is no true tree rex aka OG cause there all true ) 360,ps3,wii,ios .... there would be 4 tree rex's in 4 different colors ( color shows in game ) with no added title ( gnarly )
- ( GIANT Variants ) target got it right with granit crusher, but it stopped there, there are more chains then target ( atleast 7 more ) giant variants should be the only thing aloud to be a store exclusive 7 store 7 giants 7 variants ( not adding tree rex as he would be starter pack related - this would give us 32 new charaters 16 new 16 variant - the other 3 tree rex's )

* I like legendary figures BUT I hate that they add a gaint and newlanders to the mix, they had OG's for all elements except air and then go and add a newlander instead of an OG,
- they should of put an OG air skylander as legendary instead of jet-vac finsihing a set of 8 og legendary figure's and moved on and made a new set for the newlanders, we'll use royal as an example
- they could of picked 8 out of the 16 new characters and made them royal 4 gaints and 4newlanders ( could be sold in packs of two - 4 packs of 1 giant 1 newlander per pack )

thats just a little bit of what I would change what are your thought's

EDIT: this post is just about the character's/figure's/toys ... not the game/game play

Two more thing's

*Why didn't the sidekicks/mini's come with card's and sticker's ( even the items in the series 1 adventure packs came with card's )

* if ativision/TFB want people to collect as many of these this things as possible why not show every character and item on the poster, would make it more enticing for people to want to collect them all instead of not knowing about them unless there die hard fans or run into them in the store on accident.

interesting inputs. but to be honest, as much as I feel disappointed in Activision's wave sets, I don't think your ideas are better. I think the way they did it was the best overall solution to keep fans excited without overwhelming the product. Lots of people aren't happy, but how can Activision make everyone happy? It's virutally impossible, especially with soe many gamers out there using Activision's reputation like its a curse word.

You would like that, wouldn't you? Since you want online play in Skylanders so badly.

I agree with riverhippo... no matter what they do someone is going to be mad. Releasing in waves does keep the excitement up. Everyone see how it gets on here when a new character comes out.

I think that's one thing that's really still hard to swallow for me. I don't necessarily need the Sidekicks to do a whole bunch of damage...but..they end up being more like collectors items than anything. Especially with Giants were there's only 3 new Magic Items, the Sidekicks really should have been overhauled so they could do damage. Perhaps even a sort of mirror system, where the stronger your character is, the more powerful their attack. Something simple, like 10 points of damage would have been just fine.

ckasper got a lot of things I've actually been thinking about, especially concerning variants and stuff. Although, I don't really like the idea of different Rexes for each system. (even if they are just color swaps) A much more simpler thing would be to have a certain selection of characters in each console's starter pack, but the figures would also be out on launch day. So for instance, Rex is in all of them, but then lets say there's Jet Vac and Cynder in the Wii, Trigger Happy and Chill in PS3, etc. Those characters would all be out on launch day so if someone is buying a game for multiple consoles, they don't end up with multiples on...to be frank..pretty mediocre characters.

As much as I want Gnarly though, I can't justify dropping the dosh on it. (and I know that's been pointed out in lots of other threads) The *should* have had Gnarly in a new WiiU/Giants bundle which would have been fantastic, especially since I'm sure a lot of people are/were planning on getting it. I guess Nintendo (or whoever decided they wanted Gnarly in with the Wii Bundle) wanted to squeeze the last few bucks out of the Wii.

It looked like they made the Sidekicks just as gameplay additions. No backstory on their existence or anything.

Yeah, it's pretty much for kids that want a "pet to follow" around type thing.

As far as the variants like Gnarly Tree Rex, I wish at a later date they would release him in single packs. I already have a Wii, I can't justify to my wife spending 150.00 for Gnarly Tree Rex. I know we could have bought and then sold the Wii and what not, but that can be risky and sometimes it is just a flat out pain to do.
