So this occurred to me today and I don’t know why no other Spyro fan (as far as I know and myself included) has ever realized this. o.O

Ripto is from Dragon Shores. No mystery to it. He’s a Gnorc who is wearing the gem used to make him around his neck and he hates dragons because a) he was made for that and b) they kicked him out of Dragon Shores (where he was presumably cheating and being a poor guest). The portal he comes out of goes to Dragon Shores at the end of the game even! Crush and Gulp are either really dull dragons or one of the many species seen in the Forgotten Realms (possibly rejected relatives or experiments of the Sorceress’).

I just blew my own mind.

That would make sense since in 'Enter the Dragonfly', Ripto says that he got Gulp from Molten Crater: a level in the Forgotten Realms.

That's the villain off of Tools of Destruction right? If so, he does remind me of him; probably because he's small like Ripto though.

-Has two giant guards and uses a giant machine to fight Spyro (Robo-Gulp)
-Appears to be killed on screen in debut game, only to appear alive at a later point
-Boss music has an opera singer

Tachyon
-Extremely short
-Shorter temper
-Higher pitched voice
-Obscene hatred of Lombaxes
-Rules an entire galaxy with an iron fist
-Commands an army of simple-minded creatures (the Drophyds)
-Has a giant walking throne he uses to fight Ratchet & Clank
-Appears to be killed on screen in debut game, only to appear alive at a later point
-Boss music has a choir

I could keep going... I think.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't designed to be a Gnorc in Spyro 2. He doesn't fit the naming convention at all, which is something even the friendly Gnorcs did despite evidently going against Gnasty. Likely he was just a generic dinosaur design, which was taken later by another company and made into the Riptoc species (which doesn't make much sense either, but I'll explain myself there if someone asks, not before).

Hmm, yes, I think I'm grasping onto what you're saying...

That...makes perfect sense, actually. Thankfully I haven't given Ripto's origin too much thought so my brain hasn't exploded.

I always thought that Ripto was an intelligent dwarf Lava Lizard(the one on the game cover) from Skelos Badlands. Similar head shape, red/orange skin color and both have a single horn on the top of the head.

Ripto could have been one of the Sorceress's Rhynocs and she could have done a spell on it, mucked it up, then he, idk ran away?
