So how do the new Heroic Challenges work with the old S1 Skylanders?

For example: I had a 100% Max'd out Dinorang and Stealth Elf from the SSA Heriocs, if I use them in Giants, can I continue to do the new Heroics?

Pretty much same for S2 Remakes. If I max out an S2 Stealth Elf in Giants, can I bring her into my SSA and get her fully upgraded in those heroics as well?

tl;dr - Is it possible to do SSA AND Giants Herioc Challenges on S1 OR S2 Remakes?

I believe so. I did the same with my LC Drobot.

I think you can do that with the S2 Landers. Or you can wait for the S2 ones that are not out yet and do those when they come out.

all the newlanders have new heroics. There are also two new heroics unlockable by Cynder and Zook. Everyone else's heroic is the same as the old game. In order to complete old heroics with new characters, you must have ownership of the series 2 skylander of that heroic.

When all is said and done, the new max for heroics is 50 for old characters and their reposes and 45 for the 16 new characters.

Most of that is true, however Auric does sell the unreposed landers heroic challenges in Giants.

Laurix: I will warn you that the rewards for HC's have been swapped out slightly between S:SA and S:G. A "maxed out" character who has completed the 32 challenges in S:SA will find their stats altered to meet the rewards for the challenges as assigned by S:G.

edit: all of the original characters both S:SA versions and remakes can complete all HC's from both games

Bazinga: Only orange based characters unlock HC's in S:G. Only 40 of the 48 characters have orange based counterparts in at least one form in S:G. In addition Chop Chop's and Zook's challenges were replaced in S:G because the S:SA versions were heavily reliant on villains with no accurate counterpart in the S:G game. Sunburn's HC is automatically unlocked at beginning of game and four challenges are purchasable through Auric (Ghost Roaster's, Camo, Warnado, and Wham Shell). There is no way to activate the five challenges specifically pointed out by riverhippo within S:G.
