People need to calm down about this stuff. They're all gonna be out sooner or later, the only things you need to ask around like crazy for are the variants, even then not very many people want them.

Yeah, I am doubt we see anything new on Jan. 1st. Maybe sometime in late Jan. or Early Feb.

Here is the thing for anybody that is calling/going to there local Gamestops to find out when this pack is coming out - the employee has to be smart enough to actually look it up in the computer instead of just assuming that the date hasn't changed. I know this because that is what my local store employee did at first but then when he looked it up....woah, guess what it was changed!

-When they have a date of say 1/1/2013, that simply means THEY DON'T KNOW the EXACT date it's coming out, SO... they date it for the first of next year. Up until about 5-6 weeks ago Grand Theft Auto 5 was dated 1/1/2014......
-When they have a rough idea of when it's coming out they will adjust that date, but usually to a 1/2 or 1/4 of the year, i.e.- 3/2013 or 5/2013 or 6/2013 or 11/2013, etc etc.
-When an OFFICIAL announcement is made FROM THE GAME'S PUBLISHER, Gamestop will update the IN-STORE systems to reflect as such, any GS employee giving you dates before that either has NO IDEA or is telling you based on what they read on the internet or heard from other people.
-A Gamestop employee (even store managers) have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA which wave or characters they are getting in UNTIL THE SHIPMENT ARRIVES.
-Their software SUCKS, and it is subject to change, literally, at any minute, with an update from corporate.
-If something shows or is available on their wensite, and EVEN SAYS it is available in-store: That is usually NOT the case, you're much better off calling unless you live rather close, else it's a wasted trip.
-They are HUGE into getting you to preorder EVERYTHING (preorder = most likely you'll buy from them since you put $ down), so they will give you dates, all sorts of dates, to get you to do it.... employees get big pats on the back and sometimes rewards (gift cards etc) for having a LOT of preorders, so getting you convinced a battle pack is absolutely out on the 1st and so you better preorder to guarantee yours... yeah, they will ALL do that to you)

For me it's easy, I live a mile away from the mall. I went in to buy other things yesterday and that is when I asked. The employee looked it up right in front of me and found out it had been changed to the 9th (at least for now anyway, you say they can change any minute). All I know is that mine has been preordered for awhile so I will get a call when it comes out. However, I seriously doubt it will be the first as some are trying to still insist.

The original "placeholder" was on advertising and being said on in store tv infomercial things. They said jan 1st. Why would we think that was a place holder in that circumstance?

See my above post: They are going to give you dates, to get you to preorder, to get you to come to the store. Etc etc. It's a sales tactic, end of story, nothing new to see here. I work there, I know how corporate runs, I also know most of the higher ups, any of them above regional manager, will sell their children to get you in the store spending your money.


If they say "ONLY BUY FROM GAMESTOP!" you'll never shop anywhere else by your own reasoning, congratulations.

If they say "I don't know." when you ask about a product they sell.... you're just as likely to buy it ANYWHERE, but... if they give you a date? 90% chance you go back there and buy it.... it's simple human psychology, and it works time and again. It's already working on you right now:

Being a 3-year veteran of Gamestop, and 16-year veteran of retail in general, 1/1 is usually a placeholder for something coming out at the beginning of a new year. 12/31 is usually a placeholder for the end of the year. At Gamestop, these placeholders are used so they can start taking pre-orders and get your money as soon as possible. Those of us who have worked retail will naturally assume it's a placeholder.
